I read some of the reviews and I can't say that they are wrong. I can see how on one hand you love this place and on the other it's a complete mess. We came here for lunch for the first time and it was definitely a rough start. We arrived to find a note on the hostess stand that said breakfast ended and lunch would be served. This was at 11:45am. We sat there waiting for an actual person to seat us then interrupted a person walking by who looked like they worked their and asked if there was a hostess. He said we can sit wherever we want, no problem. Not a great start.
We sat outside at a "clean" table and a woman helped move another smaller table away from our table. She mentioned that breakfast had just ended and food would take 15 minutes or more but we could order drinks. Again very confusing, but we were okay with that.
The waitress we got was very friendly. She took our drink order and came back promptly to explain some menu items. I even asked her what her recommendation was. She started off by saying everything was good but then said the burgers were really good. We ordered an appetizer of fries along with a mix of burgers and chicken dishes.
Within minutes the appetizer of fries came out and the other reviews are not exaggerating they are huge. Lots and lots of shoestring fries. They were very tasty. Were were 2/3 through the fries and the main meals came out. Everything looked as it should. I again couldn't believe the amount of fries on the orders that subbed fries. The chips appeared to be home made but are massed produced. They are tasty but presented in such a way to assume being homemade.
Everyone was happy with their meals. No one really finished their meals but not enough left to warrant taking home.
I will say for a Tuesday at noon the place was pretty devoid of people outside. There were more people inside but not much more than outside the way it looked.
The meal was definitely more expensive than we were expecting since dinners had been about $20 or $30 more than what we paid for lunch. I will say the burgers were fantastic and I would definitely recommend as you can taste the quality. I don't think the place stood out too much to make us say we are coming back especially if we had to wait for food I would just go to...
Read moreI can’t comment on the food because we never ate. We were so excited to try this restaurant today. Got there around 11 am and hostess told us there was a 45 minute wait and we would miss breakfast. Ok, no problem, it was busy and busy means good right? Also, I did search their website for breakfast hours and couldn’t find anything. We bought almost $200 worth of merchandise and continued to wait. Got a message about 45 minutes later asking if we minded sitting outside. Sure, no problem. Go upstairs and there’s a family that checked in before us still waiting but no one else and the restaurant was almost empty. Over an hour after checking in I get a message saying that the kitchen is still switching over to lunch and we needed to wait. Other family asks to get seated so they can at least order drinks and I did the same. This is now over an hour and 15 minutes of waiting. Waitress comes over and I wanted to clarify how long our food would take and she said the order wouldn’t start to be cooked for at least another 15 minutes. So with a 6 hour drive ahead of us we unfortunately had to leave in disappointment. The only reason I agreed to wait was so my son wouldn’t be disappointed, but I regret my decision. I’ve never had to sit in an empty restaurant for over an hour because the kitchen was switching over. I hope someone from the restaurant reads this because I would suggest if you can’t serve patrons between 11 and 1 because your kitchen can’t keep up and switch from breakfast to dinner (pancakes and eggs to salad/burgers/sandwiches) then you should close and advertise you’re closed during that time. I now have all this merchandise that I don’t even know if I’m going to wear because of this experience and I definitely won’t be returning. If you want to try this restaurant, food I saw on diner’s plates looked good, or maybe I was just hungry, I would go when...
Read moreA definite favorite spot in OC for consistent great food and service. Being that things can get quite busy, my family and I would try to get there before 6:00 and had little/no wait and were lucky to have great servers and a really solid variety of options for the grown ups and kids dining. We checked it out when we weren’t sure where to go after one or two so-so experiences at really highly rated spots. We gave it a go and ended up getting dinner there twice out of our five days in OC. A few favorite items…for the kids…chicken fingers and their shoe string fries were a big hit. The batter on the chicken is almost like a beer batter and cooked to perfection. The shoestring fries are perfect and plentiful! Not oily or soggy. Yum! The burgers were also a hit! Our 11 year old went with the basic burger both nights (yes the 1/2 lb burger!!) and loved the burgers both nights. Cooked perfectly with well seasoned meat, awesome rolls and not too messy! We also had the crab cake sandwich (delicious—-the crab was plentiful and it was the right mix of crab cake to roll size). We also got the shrimp tacos (delish), the salad (Italian cold cuts, can’t remember the name)——a perfect change from fried everything after a week of fried items on the plate at most meals) and the fish tacos——the absolute best!! Made with mahi mahi that is lightly seasoned with a nice mix of slaw (and jalapeño peppers for a light kick) and yummy crema to add. One of my favorite meals while we were loving our time in OC! We are a family with a little guy with special needs and it was a perfect spot for us to have space to be a smidge spread apart from others and for him to get his food relatively quickly (they read and understood the assignment—hahaha). We...
