There are no pubs that are not restaurants and if you are looking for a simple dive bar, good luck. So after asking what had to be 20+ industry people at various "BARS" (restaurants) the concensus seems to be my only option for night life was SEACRETS. Being from the west coast this place is a trip, the venue itself is pretty cool, it's set up like a little village that supposedly is in Jamaica to me it felt more like Tijuana but it's still neet, think disney does a themed bar. After parking (they have a nice big lot) you have to walk up this sand path where some Jersey looking meathead checks your ID with some attatude (east coast) then you have to proceed through metal detectors which is a bit of a turn off (once again east coast) but Apon entering the actual venue it opens up into this covered sandy outdoor stage area, with a few different bars all around you all in the preformentioned theam. It's actually pretty cool looking. When I got there around 8pm on a friday, a cover band was playing Bonjove and other similar 80s hair band covers, the band was rather good with the exception of the music selection, but that is probably a personal taste issue. after them a reggae band started, also doing covers, also very good. From there you can walk around the property finding little bars here and there and a in-bay drinking area with tables and chairs in the water, during a hot humid day in Md that could actually be fun. There is another stage area that opens up latter called the "nightclub" it is layed out rather well, with a bar in the center and on the right and left of the dance floor area, the sound system and stage lighting / projection was good and upto date. Again a cover band, who was playing what ever top 40 hits are popular on this coast currently, and again the band was very very good. Drinks are what to be excepted at this type of venue, and they do have some decent local beers, price wise it's average, 5 to 6 for a pint. The crowd was a range from older couples to more of "Jersey Shore" type, but that could just be my west coast bias on the east coast scene. All around its worth checking out if you happen to be...
Read moreTLDR: 2.5/10, Excellent ambience, mediocre-poor food, W.O.A.T (Worst of all time) level service, and poor health & safety.
Pros: The atmosphere/ambience here is impressive, enhanced further by live music during our visit. There is cornhole with above average quality boards and bags.
Cons: Under 21 policy. 1a. Staff did not properly communicate the policy regarding individuals below 21 years old. The policy is that these young individuals must not be in the "bar area" which extends to the entire premises excluding the table at which you will be seated and the entrance. My party was forced to relocate. This policy was not communicated effectively,
Cups 2a. TINY cups. These cups are akin to those found at water cooler dispenser. 2b. Excessive ice. This exasperated the diminutive, mini cups. 2c. These first two amplify my anger regarding the paid refills (fine) that are charged without telling you (not fine). Furthermore, the expensive cost of the sodas ($3.29 - $3.99) make it so that if you want the average sized amount of soda you would be paying $13.16 - $19.95 for a normal portion of soda. 2d. I addressed the undisclosed refill charges with the manager, but was still required to pay them—despite the lack of prior notice.
Managerial dispute and "bribery" 3a. The manager was incredibly apathetic, not understanding at all. This would be a 2 star, but the manager attempted to "bribe" my party to not leave a review if they refunded our drinks.
Wildlife; Health & Safety 3a. Our adjacent table had to evacuate because of a large lizard. 3b. Our table spotted an average sized mouse scurrying across the dining area to the large grass in the middle of the eating area.
Food review 4a. The quesadilla I got was mediocre. It had a disproportionate ratio of vegetables to meat, resulting in a less satisfying, veggie-dominated quesadilla. 4b. The food is expensive relative to it's quality.
Useful Notes: Under 21 must be seated by 8pm and out by 10pm. The men's bathroom is cramped and contains only 1 stall. They have some neat seating in the water, if you want to wear swimming wear.
