We usually stay at Comfort Inn but decided to "up our game" on this trip. The problem started when we arrived. They were resealing the asphalt parking lot so a lot of it was blocked off and what few places were left was taken by cars and trucks parking sideways across multiple parking spaces and still others were blocked by orange cones. The second night, the desk attendant told my daughter to park far away in a dark parking lot. Didn't care about the cars parked sideways. Didn't show any compassion to the situation at all. I moved a cone and took a spot.
The room was decent. The window gave us a great view of the roof of part of the lower building and side of another part of the building. The beds, in my opinion, were not as comfortable as the other hotels I mentioned. The A/C worked great. The room was cool when we entered and it got cooler very fast. The thermostat had some blown LCD's but you can tell the temperature well enough.
The ice machine is right beside the elevator.
One curious thing was that the trash bags were just laid across one lip if the trashcans (bathroom and bedroom cans). I mean, even Motel 6 puts the open bags in the cans so they can be used and trash taken out easily, but these trashcans had the new, unopened bags just draped over one rim. Do they expect me to pay more for a room and also open the bags myself? That isn't going to happen.
The bathroom had a hanging "barn door" which was cool. The handle to the tub felt loose. I thought it could fall off but it didn't. The water pressure was great. Good hot water. But there was a small sulphur smell to the water. This could be a Florida thing because the water at my in-laws smells and tastes the same so can't hold that against Hilton.
My daughter purchased breakfast with the room. NO FREE BREAKFAST? Even Quality Inn has free breakfast. But at least the breakfast here is real eggs which was nice. You can order specially cooked eggs (omelets, over easy, etc.). Browned potatoes, bacon, sausages, bagels, muffins, juices (apple, orange, pink grapefruit). I didn't look at what else was offered. And even though the meal was part of the room deal, when we asked for the omelets, we were brought a bill. It had "complementary" written across it. But 2 omelets was $28? I know it was for the omelets because the second morning we just had the buffet. But apparently the bill was brought for a tip.
I think I'll stick with my favorite hotels from now on. With the parking problem and the lack of concern from the desk clerk and the weird thing with the trash bags, it soured me on "fancier" hotels. I'm sorry if the management doesn't like this review, but this was our stay. Don't like not getting rave reviews, fix the...
Read moreThe hotel itself was nice. The staff comes off as friendly, but they were not at all receptive to what I was asking. We were supposed to have every other day room cleanings, but we didn't get any. ||Day 1 - Sheets were dirty on our bed. We were informed that there was no one to change them, so they gave us a set. ||Day 2 - Ran out of toilet paper, informed the desk, asked about room service, was given toilet paper, figured they'd come the next day.||Day 3 - Marked us down as "privacy" even tho we didn't have the sign on the door out. We had run out of towls, they gave us some, and I told them we needed room service.||Day 4 - Came back after the day with no service done, trash still piling up. Had to get more towels myself.||Checkout day there was only 1 person on duty, and no management. The person at the desk told us if breakfast hadn't been done, she could give us free breakfast. However, she wouldn't comp the one from the previous day. ||I talked to the Operations Manager who was very defensive. He said he couldn't believe we wouldn't have talked to him while we were there. He was never around, we tried. We talked to the people at the front desk. After 1 minute he informed me he was going to "disconnect the call". I said "You're going to hang up me?" He said yes. We talked for a couple more minutes, I said I wanted to talk to his boss. He said he'd tel him and hung up on me. It's been days, no call.||I will never stay at another Hilton as a result. Avoid this place....
Read moreI stay in a lot of hotels while traveling and this is one of the best ones I've stayed in, by far, for a midrange budget. The lobby is giant, sparkly clean & has lots of comfortable sofas. The ceilings are very high and the decorations were classy and tasteful. The employee at the front desk was more than accommodating, giving us information about every amenity, and he struck up lots of friendly conversation about where we were traveling from, etc.
There was a large snack room in the lobby and I noticed while we were walking to our room that there was a zen garden, which I thought was awesome & I wish I got to check it out but we didn't have enough time.
The rooms here were very nice. We stayed in a room with two double beds, and there was a long marble table that stretched on the other side of the room that had a large flat screen TV and a fridge underneath and the design of it was beautiful! The whole room had contemporary, clean design but everything was extremely comfortable at the same time. I found the design style very relaxing.
There was also a little nook near the bathroom with a huge mirror, lots of dark finish wood shelves, storage space for clothes and little mirror lights and I found this area very nice as well.
There wasn't free breakfast if I remember correctly, but for a small fee there was a big breakfast. There was coffee in the room which was quite good. Overall, we had an awesome stay and this is a great hotel in the Tampa area that we would absolutely love to...
