Great food, but recent pricing decision is definitely a negative, and I’ll keep that in mind when ordering in the future (still giving 4 stars because I enjoy the food and the owner is nice). I love the pizza here, and the meatballs are fantastic (but very expensive for only two), and the owner is very nice (I’ve lived right next to this place for years now). My pizza’s crust tonight was a little burnt on one side, but the pizza itself wasn’t burnt. I totally understand raising food costs and the need to raise pricing in some cases, but Brick City is charging higher prices when you order online/ahead, rather than just stopping in or calling. If I was getting delivery, I could somewhat understand, since that’s how Uber Eats works (though annoying), but I drove over and picked up the food myself. What really turned me off is being given a receipt with my order…showing lower prices and a lower order total than what I paid. I then looked at their menu on their website, which also shows the lower prices. I called, and was told the online order prices were increased “due to increasing food costs” but the price at the restaurant has not increased/is the menu prices shown on the website/receipt. That’s not right. $1 more per item just because I ordered online instead of calling and making someone sit on the phone with my while I place my order. 🤷♂️
Edit: I appreciate the owner responding and addressing the pricing concerns. I will definitely call in the future to place orders. That being said, it is still frustrating, as I’ve been ordering ahead on Brick City website/Chow Now for forever, and the pricing has always been the same as the listed menu prices. I guess I would have liked to see a disclaimer on your website (before you click “order line” and it takes you to Chow Now), saying something along the lines of “online prices may be higher than normal/restaurant prices.” Just a thought for the future! Getting a receipt with lower prices and a different order total was what really bothered me, if I’m being honest. Nonetheless, the food was delicious as usual tonight, so thank...
Read moreMyself and two other people went into the pizza parlor at 7:10pm, they close at 8pm. We ordered a pizza and 2 sandwiches then sat at a table. We were the only ones in the restaurant so we requested the channel be changed to a local sports team. We had to ask 3 times because they were too busy cleaning to change the channel for their only patrons.
When they brought us our food, it was completely packaged to-go even though we didnt request it. We told them we wanted to "eat in", the girl said "oh" and walked away like it was no big deal. I had to walk up to request a plate to eat off because no one wants to eat out of a pizza box in front of two others eating sandwiches, one of the girls gave me a flat look and handed it to me.
Shortly after that the 4 people working disappeared to the back of the restaurant hidden from customer view until they saw us walking out the door. Then one peaked out from the back to tell us to have a goodnight.
If they hadn't disappeared to the back, I could have handed them back the pizza they gave me because my toppings were cold, and somehow in a wood-fire pizza parlor where the sign said "all pizza's cooked well done" mine was completely blond on the bottom and totally soft, just barely above under-baked. The only part of the pizza that was decent was at least the cheese was melted.
The sandwiches were great, but we wont return for the poor customer service and a completely under-cooked pizza, since after all its a pizza parlor, not a sandwich shop. I don't recommend going in within an hour of closing, because they are too busy doing closing duties to pay attention to customers needs, even when you tip before your food arrives because you pay beforehand.
To the people working in the restaurant, if your'e going to try to rush people out, next time, at least ask them if they want their food to go first, most people are very understanding, especially when they have worked 5+ years in the restaurant...
Read moreWent in with high hopes. Left disappointed. Was excited to try a new brick oven pizza joint that was offering craft beer. The pizza was good but there are four other pizza places closer to my house that I judge to be better - although I still enjoyed this pizza. The craft beer selection was a joke. Two legitimate craft beer selections - neither was of a style I cared for (although admittedly popular styles). So, craft beer lovers, no reason to go out of your way to come here. My wife had a Stromboli that included meatballs. The Stromboli looked great but the meatballs inside were cold - everything else was steaming hot. Instead of making her a new one, they heated it up. It came back partially burnt and missing the fairly large piece she had already cut off. Very poor decision-making from a customer service perspective. The Caesar salad I ordered (regular - no chicken) cost the same as the one on the menu with chicken. You can get any size pizza you want as long as it's 12 inches. We ended up having to order more pizza than we otherwise would have due to the limited choice in size. The Caesar salad itself was OK. There is no table service. Order at the counter and they bring it to you. The people working there were all very friendly and seemed to really want you to like their restaurant. I really wanted to but it didn't work out that way. I may try the place again in 6 months or a year. Maybe they'll have fixed what needs fixing. They have a lot...
