Checkmate Escape Rooms-Bexley — Local services in Odessa

We just went tonight to check out this new escape place in Bexley. My husband and I do escape rooms for fun and have around 200 we've done all over, even on our wedding night. I called to check if they were private rooms, prices, etc and spoke with Zack (Sorry, if I spelled it wrong!) He was SO friendly over the phone and just excited to be apart of our escape journey. Much to my delight, he was also working when we went and he was just as phenomenal in person as he was on the phone! The room itself was top tier to include the details of the room making it even more of a great experience and the clues were spot on, easy to figure out what we had to do next and if I made a little joke, our game master (Zack) would write something funny back so for me that was just going an extra mile. We are excited to come back to try the other room that's open and I can see us definitely enjoying anything they put together because the customer service is 11/10, rooms are 11/10 and overall experience -- priceless! (Also shared to yelp) If I could give 10 stars I would. No spoilers so l won't give too much detail, but this was the most innovative, involved, interactive, and creative escape room l've been to. Some of my team members and I went after work for a team building event. As a group of nurses from different backgrounds, the skin deep scenario sounded fun and intriguing. It was absolutely perfect, but definitely heed the warnings on the website about adult themes, and if you don't have a sense of humor, just don't go. There may have been mild panic attacks, near assault and battery, and someone may or may not have almost peed their pants, but with many helpful clues, we escaped! If you are looking for a fun way to spend a few hours with family, friends, coworkers, anyone really... please pay...

The escape room is great. Customer service is horrendous. Very passive aggressive staff. They tell you at first you can go to the bathroom if you need to and then they treat you very aggressively and rudely when you need to go the bathroom mid escape room. They also make very rude comments about your mannerisms and decisions in the escape room. When we got out of the room the skinny spiky hair manager has the audacity to say the decisions we were making to escape the room were very unorthodox and “non escape room like” when we have never been to this place before. Being in a customer service based job, this staff needs a heck of a lot more training. I would love to be reached out to to talk about this situation because if someone else gets treated the way I did it is not...
