Deluxe Oceanfront Motel & Cottages — Hotel in Old Orchard Beach

I have been staying at the Deluxe Oceanfront Hotel and Cottages for over 20 years. We started by renting a few rooms each summer to eventually renting entire floors. We learned that by doing so, we had the porches to ourselves, and if the weather turned bad, we could hang out together and not bother anyone. In 2019, we decided to rent the entire building. I spoke to Anna Crowther, the acting manager, and on September 28, 2019, I booked the entire building for 3 days in August, 2020. But due to Covid, our reservations were canceled and we were given the opportunity to roll our deposit to the following year. I asked Ms. Crowther if we could be offered the same rates and she agreed. We had to change our dates to a later week but on May 12, 2020 our reservations were made for August of 2021. During this time, Anna Crowther left the hotel and she was replaced by Brenda Larain. I made two payments to the hotel, one in April and the second in June to cover the complete balance due. In the time after payment was made, I had spoken with Brenda several times with questions regarding our stay and to confirm that we had the whole hotel. She confirmed this several times. (I also have all paperwork.) On Wednesday, August 18th, 2021 I tried to reach Brenda several times on my phone concerning check-in times and she never answered any of my calls, nor did she return my messages. On Thursday, August 19th when we showed up for our vacation, we were told that they had rented two of the three rooms on the second floor. We were offered rooms in “the cabin”. When I complained that we wanted to be together, which was the whole point of renting the entire hotel, I was shunned with an “oh well”. I then asked why they could not move the guests that were on our second floor to “the cabin” and was told that they had inconvenienced them enough already. Our inconvenience was of no interest to her. We also learned that there were children in one of these rooms, exactly what we were avoiding by renting the entire hotel. When we said we might be loud, (for children) this was interpreted that we were going to disrupt the whole complex, which resulted in one of the staff telling Allen, the owner, who was never part of any of this conversation, but suddenly appears now from “the office” to tell us....and I quote: “Get the f*&^ off my property.” Which he repeated. There was no cause for this language and no cause to throw us off the premises. We were simply looking for ways to solve the problem. I might add that the second floor is the most expensive in the building, they could have easily put these two guests on the third floor and it would not have inconvenienced anyone, but they were not looking for solutions. Never in the 20 years that I have stayed there have we ever had any problems with our group being too loud or obnoxious. We have always left the rooms in good condition and left hefty tips for the cleaning staff. We are a group of women ranging in ages from 40’s to 70’s who were left out in the rain, literally, in Old Orchard Beach with nowhere to go. It is impossible to get lodging for that many people on the fly. Many of these women had used their vacation days to go, time they cannot get back. Allen and his staff at Deluxe Oceanfront Hotel and Cottages were the rudest people I have ever encountered in the hospitality field. In all the phone calls I had with Brenda, she was cordial and polite, but this is not the Brenda I encountered on August 19th, 2021. They clearly had an agenda. Rent here at...

My name is Phyllis Coe. I was invited to go on a girls weekend trip to Old orchard Beach to stay at the deluxe oceanfront hotel for the ending week of August 2021 the lady in charge of the group Lori Davis had been planning this trip for some time. The ages of the women ranged from 40 to 76 years of age. We had meetings of the vacation and what was going to be planned for all of us. On the day of the trip most of us drove in torrential rainfall to the deluxe oceanfront hotel in Old orchard Beach Maine and a few of us were going for the first time. When my party arrived, Laurie and a good amount of our girls were standing outside under the stairs in this torrential rain when the owner came and told us they had canceled our reservations and kicked us off the property with a very strong language Laurie Davis who was crying and very upset at this time, because she had never ever been treated this way before, had to let us know what had taken place. 36 of us women going and quite a few newbies. Laurie had to tell us we had to leave. I have been on these trips to this motel before and accommodations were always wonderful. The staff and management were always great to us. Now Miss Davis has been doing these trips for some 20 odd years, and never had any problems until this year. We have always left this hotel or motel clean and we had tipped very well most of us had to buy groceries gasoline for a vehicle pay a babysitter take time off from work to go on this vacation, which never took place. Everyone was very upset and stressed out from all of this. This is not how you would treat guest's. I, myself will never and I mean never be placing a reservation at this motel. And I will make sure that I tell anyone that comes to Old orchard Beach to stay clear all the deluxe oceanfront hotel. As far as the ratings go, it would be a minus 100. The worst service from management to the owner of this business I have ever seen in my traveling days. I am a...
