We went here last year for the first time and my kids have been begging us all week to go back. Their website says they are open, but when we called their phone message states they are only open Thur-Sun. All week we watched people trying to stop there, waiting a few minutes to determine if they were open, and then drive away. We finally were able to go our last full day of vacation. We walked in and the server was very nice and we were able to get a seat right away. The live band was performing some great songs and we were excited to eat. They were not running on their normal menu and handed us a paper listing "off season" menu items. The menu was just bar food.
My son ordered the build your own pirate burger. They had just opened and didn't have any pickles. We told the server that was fine, but then right before the food came out the cook told the server they were just waiting on the pickles to come from the store. She informed us of this and then the cook told her he was joking they dont have pickles. My son is 9.
While there several servers were making fun of guests on the patio. I recognize that this probably happens in every kitchen/restaurant, but normally it is not done infront of guests.
My daughter had a quesadilla and the rest of us split the nachos. Most of the chips and tortillas were overcooked (charred) and the cheese was only partially melted.
We all ordered soda, which came in a 12oz ice filled cup, and cost us $3.99 each. We were never offered refills. Our total bill was over $60 for 3 menu items and 5 sodas.
When it came time to pay the wifi was down. The waitress told us we would have to wait. When we mentioned we were paying cash and could they just calculate our bill the old fashioned way, the waitress panicked and began complaining to the bar tender about us. We had to wait 15-20 minutes for the wifi to come back on before we could pay. We gave her the money and waited for our change, but she made us another 5 minutes while she put in another guests order. Worst experience...
Read moreAfter a 100 miles of traveling via motorcycle, we were looking for a place to unwind and have a couple drinks and get a snack. The place looked beach like and seemed like it might be our kind of place. The server had no knowledge of the neighboring hotels (right outside the doorway) or what the rates might be, not really a big deal, but seems like the help would have some idea. So we ordered a couple drinks. Nothing special, the soda was half water and half coke. (realized later that they take the ice from a bucket that sits out and melts) The server took our order for some of the local steamers. There was one couple at the bar and a small family came in at this time. We were the only ones there till this point. After 30 minutes and our drinks being empty for 15 minutes I asked the server for our check. She asked if we would like the steamers to go. By this time the small family had already received their order of a large pizza. I told her we had ordered a half hour ago and she said she would check on the order. 5 minutes later she came back and said the cook made a mistake on the order and then handed us our bill. I am not a very picky person and do not usually leave feedback, but this server was one of the worst I have ever had. Even after all that and the bill coming to $9.50 I still left a 50 cent tip. For what or why...
Read moreDo not go here, Christopher Columbus slave simulator The reason for having the name pirate in their name is so they do not have to wash table tops, floors, and can neglect any sort of cleaning aspect of owning a restaurant. This also allows them to serve you their canned chicken that tastes like they've left it baking in the sun for 4 weeks and put said contents inside a soggy diaper wrap and call it a chicken ceaser wrap, even though no ceaser dressing is present. Having the word pirate in the name not only allows you to have a pigsty styled interior, and serve food you wouldn't allow a stray to eat, it also allows for the owner to loudly yell every command and thought to his employees while sitting at a table designated for customers. If you are thinking of going to this place because you are staying close by, just keep walking. There's much better food around and not much further away. I do have a question for the chef, how do you make those hollow french fries with absolutely no taste, do you have a name for these ? New Jersey air has more...
