So we missed last year but stayed again this August/2023.
As always at the Sea Drift everything was great. No signs of COVID being used for excuses around here, like some other big and small hotels/motels. They are back to pre-COVID days with full hotel services (Housekeeping, Coffee, fridge, etc). The flowers are back, the pool was sparkling and hopping. Make sure you read my first 2 reviews because nothing has changed. There is something to be said about being 5⭐’s year in and year out 🙂. As always, we will stay again! 2020 UPDATE - COVID Ready!
No fear staying here! They have Corona under control, from plastic bags for your towels, no one entering your room during your stay, only one person allowed in the office (with a mask), to even plastic gloves at the ice machine. They are taking every precaution. We felt completely safe staying here!
Also, nothing from our previous ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ reviews (below) have changed.
Another year, another great stay at Sea Drift, 2019
So just as I closed my first 5-star review of the Sea Drift Motel with "We will definitely stay again" (below), we did stay again this week and the place was even better this year. Still, one of the best hotel owners I've met, she could not be any more friendly and helpful. The room again was super clean, newer hardwood and tiled floors as well as an updated bathroom. Nice large fridge, microwave, kitchen table, and chairs. Good size crystal clear swimming pool with plenty of seating and all-day sun. But you may not get a chance to use it since you will only be a minute walk to the beach. The exterior has great parking and two nice Adirondack chairs right outside your front door, beautiful flowers, nicely landscaped and very well maintained. I think we found one of the best values in OOB, just as with last year, we will definitely stay again (5-Star Plus)!
ORIGINAL REVIEW----------------------------------------------------------------------
Professional, clean and well maintained motel.
First, the service was excellent, from straightening out the old credit card info I gave them, to letting us check in early and giving us advice on where to eat, etc. Our room was completed as expected. It was very clean, nice, and large, it contained everything promised.
Understanding this area will go a long way. OOB is not a 5-star resort beach location. It is a middle class, coastal New England getaway spot. Family friendly and a lot down to earth.
Our room looked to have newer hardwood and tiled floors as well as an updated bathroom. There was a 3’ round table with 2 comfy kitchen type chairs. The fridge was large and very cold. The pool looked awesome, but we never had time to go in because the motel is a 2-minute walk from the beach. Everything on the exterior was pristine. Freshly painted, beautiful flowers, nice patio furniture, newly sealed and painted parking lot, even two nice Adirondack chairs beside each unit’s front door. Now if I wanted to nitpick, the door hinges could use some WD40, the LCD TV is kind of small and the bed could use a couple more pillows, but come on, we survived! Anyway, if you are planning a stay in OOB give this place a shot, I think you will be quite pleased. We will...

Great and friendly service provided from start to finish - there was even freshly brewed strong coffee available every morning promptly at 7:30.
One drawback previously noted in earlier reviews is the train. It should be noted, however, that the train runs the entire length of the beach, and is therefore virtually impossible to avoid at any of the resorts in Old Orchard Beach. The beds at the Sea Drift were so comfortable, though, that it was very easy to sleep through any noise.
Family-owned and very well maintained - any minor problems brought to the attention of the Owner were addressed immediately (i.e, broken blind found at start of stay was fixed right away). Must also mention the amazing water pressure! Showers were fabulous and relaxing - essentially a standing massage!
The heated saltwater pool was always clean and provided a welcome relief for the seasonally cold ocean water.
The cleaning staff were very professional and accommodating (anything that was requested was provided right away).
Would highly recommend this hidden gem and...
Read moreThe staff was very friendly. The room was extremely clean however there was sand in between the sheets and a thin layer of it on the floor.
My biggest concern was the air conditioner located in the bathroom above the toilet. It was the only air conditioner for the room. Since the room was very small, it didn't matter however I do not want an air conditioner in the bathroom blowing the bathroom air into the small room. In addition to that, it's hard to shower in a room with the air conditioner.
if you don't mind the air conditioner, then you should have no problem with the Train Running roughly 25 feet behind the building.
The light next to the bed did not work.
The ceiling fan in the room was Extremely Loud. The shower head was meant for someone under 5 foot 5.
The shower stall itself was not meant for someone much over a hundred pounds.
I wondered how a place that has been there since 1968 has not had more actual ratings.
For over $200. per night, I wish I had tried somewhere else.
Both the air conditioning unit and train can be seen...
