We found a super cool hotel in Omaha for the weekend zoo trip. While my family went to the zoo, I wandered around the building with a camera in hand. This place is so family friendly, super clean, has outstanding staff and is reasonably priced. We had to book through Expedia because the website kept saying they were full. No big deal. We got in about 5 to check in and could tell immediately it was going to be a full hotel. We ended up on the 7th floor. When we got into the room, it was clean except there was something in the toilet that wasn't flushed. I am just going to tell myself they did something while cleaning and didn't flush it. After we got settled, we left for a bit to get dinner and when we came back there as an extra bed in the room. We didn't ask for one to be brought up and when I checked in, I was alone. Either way it was appreciated. The elevators could use an update. The one closer to the lobby takes forever to come up or down so we barely used it. There are 2 entrances, the front and side. Being on the top floor had some big disadvantages. For one the wifi barely worked. We had to go to the lobby to connect to our devices and once back in the room it was a hit or miss if it worked. Also, the air conditioner didn't work as well either. The room was cool, but if you were under blankets it got pretty warm. The beds are very soft and not firm. We did end up actually finding some bugs on the extra bed they brought in, so that was disturbing. Some of the staff is very friendly and others prefer not to be bothered. The manager was nice. The fitness area has a lot of equipment in it to use. The pool area is small for the amount of guests they have. The first night we went and you could barely move in the pool with how many people were there. The second day we went a little earlier and it was a lot better, but it started to pack up later. There definitely isn't enough seating inside the pool area. You have to wear wristbands inside the pool area that are given at the desk, but nobody ever checked. They ask that pool towels stay in the pool are and I don't think anyone listened to that. They tried to keep the towels stacked but as soon as they brought some in, people would go and grab stacks. It is very warm in the pool area. Breakfast on the weekends is 7-10. You want to get there as soon as it starts or not long after or else it will be packed and limited. We got there right after breakfast started and everything was fresh. The first day they had scrambeled eggs and bacon, cereal, waffles, yogurt, bagels, pastries, milk, juice, coffee, tea. The second morning all the same plus sausage, breakfast potatoes, and mini omlettes. It was fine for a free breakfast. A lot of people came down with no shoes on which we thought was gross. There is a decent amount of seating but for the amount of people, not enough. The carpets need to be replaced. I didnt know they let animals in, but when we were leaving someone walked in with 2 dogs. We cleaned up our stuff in the room after the first night so we could get fresh towels, empty the garbage, and stuff while we were gone and our room was never touched. So, we had to dump the trash and ask for extra bags for the garbage. You only have 2 tiny garbage cans in the room which fills up fast. The shower water was warm for all showers needed. They only give 2 small things for shampoo and a soap bar. We had a mini fridge and microwave which is convenient. Our ice machine was broken on our floor. It had a note on the 3 other floors we could use, so we had to go to another floor each time to fill ice. The hotel is located on the corner of a busy road and lots of other businesses around. So, traffic can be a bit loud at times. It is connected with a bbq place, but it was closed the entire time we were there. Not sure if it is temporary or permanent. You have to sign a no smoking waiver, however, people clearly do not follow that. We found cigarette butts in the staircase and the room had a faint smell. We do not smoke so it sticks out pretty fast. With some upgrades and more emphasis from the staff, this could be a great place to stay. When the staff is mediocre, it shows. The price was comparable to other hotels in the area.

Was really excited about this trip but started and ended less then optimal. Booked two rooms asked if they could be on the same floor. They said no they're sold out. Okay I get it not your fault, that's fine. Order door dash that night and while waiting someone comes in a gets 2 new room bookings stating their previous hotel overbooked, so much for being "sold out". No big deal, I get it, maybe they're too busy to worry about our requests. Oh well. Our bedding was filthy and stained in room #1. That next morning we noticed the cabinet above the toilet is about to fall off the wall and is barely hanging on, so they change our room "but are still sold out" so again different floor. Room #2 both queen beds are sinking terribly in the center AND the bedding is stained terribly. So an uncomfortable night's sleep with blankets from the car. Next morning get out of the shower and there's drywall everywhere from ceiling falling apart while showering. Water damage from above, along with mold, looks to have been patched before. Also alarm is beeping and hanging from ceiling with water damage as well. Room #3 night 3 moved to another room on another floor. Room was much better but smelt of cigarettes. Breakfast was awesome, they're usually quick to refill hot food. The hotel had multiple renovations going on. The pool area was a bit sketchy and looked like a landlord special. Employees were very polite and very understanding regarding room issues. Although the short male employee maintaining the breakfast area would constantly dig away with a finger in his nose while swapping out napkins and wiping tables. Found it a bit odd but hey it's not a fancy hotel. I'm assuming a family took the hotel over for renovations as they were all wearing "street clothes" and not some sort of formal wear for a business, so you wouldn't recognize them unless they were behind a desk or attending an amenity. I'm sure at some point the hotel will improve, as I said staff was friendly (disregarding the refusal to put 2 bookings on the same floor even though rooms were in fact available) and food was great. Just the hotel itself was poor off. Oh also forgot to mention regarding the pool. The pool water was very foggy clarity was about 8inches. The hot tub unattended would form foam in the center with some questionable brown discoloration and "tiny chunks" It was very muggy and hot in the pool area, had sliding glass doors surrounding that would've made a world of difference.

Don't even know where to start! The smell of chlorine was horrendous as soon as you walk in. Made it hard to breath and burns your eyes. We thought maybe it was just the main floor and it will get better when we get to our room. Well, we get to our room and it's just gross. You can tell nothing was wiped down. There was even pee on the back of the toilet! Smudges everywhere, and not to mention, the nasty smell that was coming from the drains. It smelled like rotten eggs! I travel with hand cleaning wipes, so I just wipe the stuff off, even the pee. My husband turns the water on and it helps with the gross smell. So, whatever, we just make it work. Things are fine the first 2 nights that we are here for. Well, the 3rd night, about 11pm, our hotel neighbor almost gets murdered. Yes, truly, she almost gets murdered. We are laying in bed. Our kids were already asleep, my husband and I were in bed playing on our phones. I just plugged my phone in, took my glasses off, and started to fall asleep. Next thing we know, there's a bunch of banging and pounding and stuff breaking coming from the room next to us. Then we hear a woman yelling and screaming help. So, we jump up out of the bed and go look. My husband opened the door, but it's still latched. I see a naked lady run down the hallway, we closed that door so quick and locked it back up. Then I see a naked guy running after her, through the peephole. But he turned around and went the other direction. The whole time, he had something in his hand with a red laser pointed down at the floor at his side. I called the police and told them what we had just witnessed. I am hyperventilating and crying, shaking at that point. The police say they're going to send out a squad. So, we are just standing in our room, pacing back and forth, freaking out. Then it's really quiet. I called the front desk freaking out, asking them what is going on. They say it was a dispute, I ask them if we are safe. They say the guy is gone, he left the building naked, out the back door, that doesn’t close all of the way, unless you pull it closed. And the police are out looking for him and that they're also at the hotel talking to the lady. So, I went down to the front desk to see what is going on. The lady at the front desk said, I guess the lady thought she knew the guy, so she had him come up to her room. So, they were in her room, but he was hurting her and tried to kill her. He threw her up against the wall, strangled her, cut her on her neck and near her private area. And that he is a drug dealer. She ran out of the room before he killed her. She ran all over the 6th floor (floor we are on) and the first floor. The girl at the front desk wouldn't even let her into the office area because she was afraid the guy was going to climb over the counter and try to hurt both of them. So, this girl is running naked all over the hotel looking for help. The police show up and start investigating. It was a rough night of sleep after that. The next day, I try to talk to the manager about a refund, we get told that they can't do it because we booked through Expedia and that we will have to go through them. Ok, fine, so I call and talk to Expedia to see what they can help us with. They said that they would talk to the hotel, the hotel tells Expedia that the only way we'd get a full refund is if we were to leave right now. After only 4 hours of sleep the night before, with no where else to go, due to funds and traveling with 2 special needs children. And had a family reunion on Friday. We would have gladly left and went to another hotel, but we didn't have the funds to go to another hotel or the time to wait 7-10 business days for the full refund. So, they refunded us for the one night. Just don't recommend this place at all, unless you are into traumatizing events and like to feel unsafe. Can't wait to talk to my doctors and therapist about this one and how it effected my PTSD, anxiety,...

We booked this hotel for the fun pool for our daughters birthday as I'm sure many do. I booked directly through the Best Western website and was under the impression that my card was charged at the time I made the reservation a couple weeks ago. When I arrived there was only 1 person working the front desk on a Saturday afternoon and had to wait about 20 minutes to be assisted. A second lady showed up in the front desk area and was assisting the 1 lady that was doing everything alone. She is the one that called us up to check us in. She let us know that there would be a $250 deposit to be refunded upon checkout at which time I asked if I would be able to receive an invoice that stated so. The lady behind the desk became very nasty right away and pointed to a camera behind her and said "No there's no receipt, we are being recorded. Just don't smoke or damage the room! " She then stated I was going to be charged for the room and the total to be charged was the deposit amount and the room charge. I asked her why it was that amount and said that I had already paid for the room. Instead of attempting to calmly explain to me that I had not been charged yet, she decided to again raise her voice and said "You have had an attitude the entire time I've been helping you and I'm not even on the clock or working today! You don't have to stay here! " I would like to point out that I was asking all of my questions calmly and was not taking any sort of tone with this lady and was very confused by this. I told her 2 different times that I was just trying to get checked in and she continued to yell at me. I calmly told her I would figure out what happened on my own with the booking and call my bank if I see a double charge and that I just have anxiety about getting things in writing. At which point she thought I mumbled something under my breath because I was bending down to grab my purse at which point she said "What did you say to me?! " I eventually was able to find my reservation email and saw that the dollar amount matched what was going to be charged and was able to put the pieces together on my own that I had not been charged yet. But this lady had to interest in helping and had only said I booked a "pre-sale" I have no clue what a pre sale is or what it means. If you would like to look at the video on the camera that she rudely had to point out to me, you will see I was not trying to give her a hard time and was genuinely confused. She wanted to hurry up and be done with me because she decided to work off the clock on her day off.

Our kids enjoyed the pool, however I had no interest in sticking around for breakfast in the morning as I did not want to be yelled at again by this terrible lady. I have never felt so unwelcome by a hotel.

I already knew that Best Western was terrible as I've seen plenty of bad reviews. I just wanted my daughter to have a fun birthday and I knew that our reservation was non-refundable so we stayed.

I am begging you to please find staff that actually enjoys the business of hospitality. It's thanksgiving weekend and the holidays are already very hard to go through for a lot of people. It doesn't take much to be kind and answer a couple of billing questions for a...
