We should have just left as soon as we walked in. The host brought us to a table that hadn’t even been turned over from the last guests—there was a dirty, wet rag still sitting on it. She tried to quickly wipe it down, but it was still visibly dirty and left soaking wet. The menu had crusty food stuck to it, and the drink menu sitting on the table was covered in brown splatters (looked like coffee). Not exactly appetite-boosting.
I told my husband we should go, but our toddler was so excited for her smiley face pancake that we decided to stay. I should have trusted my gut.
Our server, Crystal, had to be corrected multiple times while reading back our order, and my toddler’s eggs still came out wrong. My husband’s $16 chicken dish was laughably small, completely undercooked, and came with a blackened, overripe avocado that looked like it had been sitting out all day. Honestly, it looked worse than anything I’ve ever seen at a 3:00 AM dive bar—and that’s saying something. It was totally inedible. He never complains, but even he asked to have it taken off the bill. My daughter’s bacon looked and tasted like it had been sitting under a warmer since January of last year.
I left with an immediate stomach ache from my food and a lot of regret. This location has gone so far downhill it’s honestly shocking. I never have expected anything crazy or fancy from Village Inn, but this was unacceptable. We...
Read moreFood was excellent, but everything else was a disappoinment. Our visit started with a wait just under 10 minutes. The table was clean but the booths were dirty and sticky. Drinks arrived quickly. Out waitress Elizabeth did come quickly but we asked for one more minutes. For the next 15 minutes she totally ignored us. No acknowledgement as sure repeatedly passed the table. We watched her having a conversation with another table long enough for her to lean against the wood divider. I had to request another server, Chloe to take our order. Upon receiving our food, it looked and tasted fantastic. The waitress dropped the check at that time and never came back to check on is our refill our empty water glasses set at the edge of table. The bathroom was mostly clean, but there were areas near and in the wait station that were nasty. Upon leaving the gentleman, possibly the manager, but no name tag, cashed us out without even asking how everything was. We also watched as people waited for tables as tables that were empty when we sat, never got cleaned or ready. It was not crazy busy, and you could overhear most of the waitresses having ongoing conversations. Bring seated right by the wait station, I witnessed a server moving food from plate to plate...
Read moreThe waitress didn't listen to our orders. She then came back 5 minutes later confirming salads, which were wrong. We corrected it and said we'd like them before our meal. They came out with the meal and they were incorrect. The food that was given to me was not my order. When she took it back, I could hear the manager cursing under his breath about her as he was walking by our table (possibly an unrelated reason, but still heard it). Never checked on us during the meal. There were 2 other tables occupied in our section. She asked if we needed anything else. Then we waited another 15 minutes for our bill. I specifically went because of free pie Wednesday. This is the only location that does NOT offer all pie choices for the free slice. You are offered French silk, pumpkin and any fruit pie. The waitress said its because it's the corporate store for Omaha. I will never go back to this location again. I will stick with the friendlier locations, 52nd & L or 72nd & Giles.
Side note- I had 3 kids with us and they didn't offer kids menus to any of them. I had to request one. The manager is the one who sat us, I would think as a manager, he would think to ask if we needed the kids menus.
I was livid when we left. I am still very...
