Right off the highway in Orleans is the Skaket Beach Motel. Relatively close to Skaket Beach, the motel is quaint, clean, and run by a charming couple who take great pride in their business. Our simple room with two beds served as our base of operations as we ran around from beach to beach. Breakfast in the morning consisted of homemade muffins (blueberry, cranberry, and chocolate chip), cold cereal, coffee/tea, and Tropicana orange juice. Nothing fancy, but good quality. I couldn’t eat the muffins due to food allergies, but my kid loved them. The motel is also across the street from a Shaw’s grocery store, so if you get a room with a kitchenette, you can prep your lunches for the beach and eat healthy. Though we went to Cape Cod for the beach, we did enjoy a quick dip in the pool. We also appreciated the quiet hours, as all we wanted to do when we got back was SLEEP! Reasonable rates, friendly owners, and a convenient location make this a great place to stay.

Yes, this is a motel…and it’s one of the nicest motels I’ve stayed at in some time. The rooms look like they were renovated, as everything looked quite new and clean especially in the bathroom. The room is so much more spacious than I expected, which was a nice surprise. There’s all the typical amenities but I appreciated is how it’s only a mile from the Cape Cod Institute at the middle school so one can walk there. Also the location just makes it easier to drive to the middle school or anywhere around town. I primarily interacted with one of the owners and she was warm and friendly. When I asked to extend my stay by one night they were able to do so and gave me an even lower rate than when I reserved my weeks stay months ago via a travel website. The continental breakfast is simple with OJ in tiny cups, warm muffins, cereal and coffee (not great but serviceable). Overall a good stay while taking my course gown the road.

This motel is clean and quiet with updated bathrooms. It's located right off rt 6, in the middle of Orleans. Skaket beach and Nauset beach are both minutes down the road. The motel is across the road from a Shaws grocery store, making it so easy to walk over for something to eat. In the morning they bake fresh muffins, alongside cereal and fresh coffee, all of which are complimentary. Medium sized inground pool with tables, lounge chairs, and 2 umbrellas. This motel is family run and operated, and it's layout and size gives off a very laid back, conformable, and relaxing feel compared to most comparable motels in the area.

They just shouldn't have been taking guests. We were on the Cape to prepare a house for sale and wanted to stay elsewhere. There was not much open. This place it turns out had been open for only a week and shouldn't have. ||First we get there, the office is closed and have to use a phone to call someone to check us in-no one answers. It is late afternoon. So we are thinking about plan B. Then he shows up. Pleasant enough. No continental breakfast as they just opened. OK fine. ||Then the internet isn't working. We have to call the number again. He said it is a weekend so it won't be fixed till maybe Tuesday. We needed the internet and it was challenging to do what we needed to on our phones. We were checking out Monday. ||When we went to shower we realized that there was no hot water. Pretty unpleasant. |Called the number and left a message. No one ever answered, called back, could be found and the problem was never fixed. We might have asked for a discount for all that was lacking if we ever saw anyone. || I will say the rooms were large, comfortable and very clean. But no hot water. I can't think of when I ever experienced that in a motel. |I see many good reviews so this place is likely fine in season but you don't want to go early on as it may not be fully functional and they will take your money anyway. ||I was just down there two weeks ago and thought of our experience and thought I should write this review. If you go early in the season check for the internet and hot water before they take your...

The Skaket Beach Motel has been owned and operated by the same family since 2006. They have done a great job of renovating the facility. Renovations include windows, flooring, HVAC, and bathrooms. Wi-Fi is included in rental charge. Our room was clean and we had a visit from housekeeping each day, which is becoming rare in any lodging below the luxury level. Our bathroom was newer and better than those we've encountered in most chain hotels. The room had a mini-fridge and a microwave, features that we've come to expect as standard. The grounds of the motel are nicely landscaped. Pets are allowed outside of peak summer season. A shopping center across the street from the motel includes a supermarket, making it easy to pick up needed items. The motel was quiet at night, perhaps due to the fact that most guests (like us) were of a "certain age." Rental rate was reasonable, less than that of the two national chain hotels we stayed at on our trip. Of the three places we stayed on the recent trip, the Skaket Beach Motel was our favorite, beating out two hotels from a national chain. Please note that the 5-bubble rating does not mean that the Skaket Beach Motel is a luxury establishment. If I were rating on an absolute scale, it would rank as 3-bubbles. But for what it is -- an old style motel -- it is great. No question we would...

Surly & unprofessional

we almost stayed here, We decided not to and here's why:

we made a reservation months in advance that was lost. we re-reserved but received no confirmation, terms, etc. we arrived at 1:00, after a hot 5 hour car ride to learn that the room wasn't ready. no one offered to take our luggage. the motel is gross: the motel and pool are hard-up on top, and against busy Canterbury. the rooms are squat, gross, and creepy. the office is gross, When we arrived, it was deserted. it was unkempt, had stale coffee and donuts, and smelled bad we called to cancel our reservation, as we found a room at the wonderful Orleans Inn, with a lagoon view, and fabulous sunrises for the same price. the kicker: these Cretins charged my card for one-night, without notifying me of cancellation policy.

Note to owners: It seems that perhaps the standards of business conduct are somewhat lower in the place you came from, then they are here. It is establishments like yours that lower the bar for other businesses, that created a degraded commercial environment. I can tell you that this sort of conduct is not welcome here, and i sincerely wish you would close the motel and go back to...
