This is my second time staying at this hotel. The first was in 2008 and the second is over the current holiday weekend.
I cannot praise this establishment more highly. Covid has affected everyone in different ways, and this isn't my first time staying in a hotel during the pandemic.
But it was the first time I suddenly found myself suffering from a concussion and needing to get away from the amazing fireworks display that Aurora puts on. Mr. Patel has been the epitome of hospitality. Anything that has been within his power to assist me with, he has graciously done so.
I have always loved the hotel with a free breakfast, and with a near-instant fresh hot pancake maker, several cereals and milk, yogurt, fruit, oatmeal, muffins, bread, and a juice machine, even my personal very restricted dietary needs find delicious food to graze on daily.
The pool is very warm, and the adjacent shower is fully handicap accessible. Though the wheelchair lift for the pool is currently out of service due to a back-ordered battery, supply chain backorders are prevalent throughout the entire country and I cannot fault anyone for that.
The housekeeping team is extraordinarily efficient and very very friendly.
Even though there was a fire alarm that went off around 1:00 in the morning one of the nights we stayed, we were able to get out quickly and safely and the Oswego fire department was on scene within 5 minutes to make sure that everyone was okay.
I personally have always loved the rustic wood decor that the AmericInn is famous for, which is why I chose to stay at this hotel in 2008 with my now husband. And when we found ourselves in sudden need of a nearby place to get away from a normally fun and exciting experience (Aurora's fireworks display) I could think of no better place to go than here.
The proximity to a lot of Oswego shopping is a draw for many, but I personally love that there is a casual sports bar and grill a few hundred feet from the main entrance as well as a Fruitful Yield, an excellent taco store, as well as a Domino's Pizza within one city block. A little further down an adventurous walker or anyone with a car can easily get to several liquor stores, more bars, massage parlors, and all sorts of other shopping and dining.
As with any hotel stay, the actual other guests may vary, but if you are the type of person who is dissuaded by random other guests, I would not advise you to stay in a hotel at all.
But if you're looking for an affordable, well-kept hotel that is great for both families, travelers, and locals alike, I highly recommend the AmericInn Oswego.
And if you're looking for a bit of an upgrade, the rooms with jacuzzi tubs are...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am the bride the past couple reviews have been talking about. As mentioned, we had to drive 30 minutes to get back to my parents house after not having a room available due to a lack of competence. It was 3:15AM before we got home and let me tell you, at that point we were extremely exhausted mentally, physically and emotionally. This hotel was not only terrible the night of our wedding, but also throughout the planning process. I had to not only once, but TWICE re-do my room block in which we had a high amount of people booking with them. Some even, who were staying MULTIPLE nights. The owner, Mr.Patel wanted to COMP us a room instead of giving us a refund for the money they THEY charged TWICE.
The unprofessionalism and lack of respect for peopleās financial records, is embarrassing for the entire Wyndham company! Even when I called corporate, they werenāt able to give me a copy of the report sent in so WE had record. We received an email, almost a week later from Mr. Patel saying he will be refunding the money. Iām sorry... but it should have been refunded IMMEDIATELY afterwards! Not just the first charge, but also the second.
Waking up to texts from MANY friends and family asking where we were, if we wanted to grab breakfast was completely embarrassing when we had to reply with āweāre in Naperville, they gave someone else our roomā.. how would you feel?
Our venue, Northfork Farm, also took them off their suggested vendors list because of the incident. Itās terrible that after a wonderful, AMAZING day something like this ended up leaving me in tears. My sister thankfully woke up and had her fiancĆ© drive us home. The hotel DID NOT offer to help us home and they didnāt even think a refund was an appropriate action at the start.
Brides, Grooms, Partners and the general public... listen here.... DONT waste your time with this hotel. I promise you, itās not worth it. The extra 10 minutes to a different hotel will leave you with a hopefully better experience...

Based on my experiences with other similar priced hotels, this is by far the best return for the buck. Perfect for the average OCD person and clean enough for the average messy person to stay clean. Beautiful interior design with custom furnitures hand made by the Amish. Dust free rooms and extra complimentary accommodations. Laundromat, Fitness Room, and Swimming Pool open late as 10PM. Delicious coffee but no brown sugar. Well served breakfasts with instant pancakes, cereal, chocolate muffins, yogurt, and juice fountain, only con is the 2% Milk but thatās a good guidance by the hotel to promote staying healthy. Staff are very friendly with a smile on their face and respectful personalities, only if you deserve it, in my opinion, is how it should be, so donāt be an A - Hole or a Karen and you shall be treated like family. Hot shower (not scorching hot like my ex used to burn herself in) with Paul Mitchell shampoo and conditioners. Fluffy towels that feel soft and clean. Blankets are clean, bed is soft and pillows smell new. Bring your chromecast for the TV cause it has an HDMI port and USB port. The bedside outlet doesnāt charge good but should fill your phone to 100% overnight, the other outlets on the wall are normal. I never used the microwave but looks new and dependable. Good food within a walking distance, a smoke shop for my fiends, and a liquor store for the bored. Not luxurious nor fancy; just clean and well maintained for people who prefer simplicity over complexity, with basic necessities never lacking. No complaints, just need brown sugar, whole milk, and better...
