Pleasantly surprised by this strip mall sushi/Chinese restaurant! I dropped by to order carryout on a weeknight, and they were pretty busy. The place is separated into 2 areas, one for dine in and one for carry out. There weren’t many people dining in, but the carry out was popping. It took 20 minutes to get my food, but worth the wait.
I had intended on ordering Chinese food, but saw the sign for 50% off signature rolls on Wednesdays!! It was Wednesday, so I had to take advantage of the deal.
Dragon Maki – Regular price $15 – Fantastic!! Shrimp tempura, scallion, cream cheese, topped with red fish eggs, avocado and eel. I instantly fell in love with this roll at first bite. The sauce is delicious and there’s a nice subtle crunch in the middle of the roll. I would be back just for this roll.
Bears Roll – Regular price $15 – Soft shell crab, cucumber, topped with shrimp, avocado and sauce. This roll was pretty good, but I was hoping for more crunch out of the crab, but I didn’t get. Good tasty sauce on top!
General Tso Delight - $11 -Chunk of battered and fried chicken and shrimp with broccoli and sauce. This dish comes with rice and has a generous portion of meat and a few broccoli. I’m not a huge fan of General Tso since the sauce is too sweet for my taste, but it was a pretty good dish. The batter wasn’t overly thick.
There’s also a froyo place a few doors down that...
Read moreMy wife and I ordered take out last night. Green Curry and Lo Mein. This was our at least 5th or 6th time ordering from Mason Wok. We had asked for our food to be spicy. Since Thai food is meant to be spicy. We got home and the food was completely bland. Almost like a bland meal you would get at a hospital. Completely flavorless. It was a complete disaster. The food being not edible as it had no flavor. We immediately called the restaurant and lady on phone said sorry we missed where you asked for spicy. Then she proceeded to say that we could come back and pick up hot sauce. We declined as it was a 10-15 min drive back there. No apology what so ever. She then said we could get a 15% discount next time. I am in the hospitality industry and anytime something like this arises we offer at the least refund and a apology. This establishment obviously doesn’t care to keep its customers. We ended up ordering pizza from Lou Malnati for dinner which has more spice than mason wok food we had ordered. Luckily we paid with our credit card and called and explanined we basically got the wrong meal and weren’t offered to remake or a refund and they were able to refund us. After this expierence we will never visit mason wok. Nor would we recommend to family and friends. If you like your Thai food to be bland then this maybe the place for you but not so...
Read moreHave been a loyal customer for quite some time, typically enjoying our visits. Today very different. Opted for take out vs sit down today. When got there, sushi was bagged w/all the other stuff getting heated through. Person checking me out seemed annoyed that I asked to to be bagged separately. Then get home and realize there is an extra entrée in the bag and I was charged for it. I called to see what could be done. First they claimed I ordered the meal - I did not. When ordering, I Asked a question about a different meal, but said no thank you, I do not want that. Then when she couldn't convince me that I ordered a dish I don't like, I was told that I could drive it back if I didn't want it. No. Finally after informing her that was not an acceptable option, I was offered a small amount off my next meal. .... All I wanted was an "Sorry for the inconvenience. We would appreciate the chance for your business again. How could we do better next time?" No money, no free meals - just their openness to improve themselves. But NOPE - blamed the customer. Very...
