Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Owatonna — Hotel in Owatonna

I am wanting to share my experience I had when I stayed at this hotel for an extended period of time. Last year my fiancé and I stayed at this location while we waited to move into our new home. Some of the staff were really sketchy but a few were good, decent people. After a few weeks our account kept showing up being under balance but we had been paying cash about a $100 a day to pay off the weekly fee. A few times we were told that the receipt machine was t working but they said they’d make a note for the owner that we paid(that never happened). It was obvious the staff was pocketing the cash for themselves and we had an employee recently tell us that was true that the staff would pocket our money without putting in the amount of cash we paid and the owner was aware of the situation. That wasn’t the worst part we had stayed there for about 2 maybe 3 months and one day we come back and our hotel room is rented out! We go down to the front desk and all of our belongings are behind the desk and the front desk staff told us the owner Dolly was kicking us out for under balance and we had just paid so it should have made the account over balance by at least $50. Low and behold we didn’t have all the receipts to show we had paid because they said they would make notes for the owner that we paid, but there were no notes of any kind. Well we called the police to try and retrieve our stuff the police said the owner Dolly couldn’t legally take our stuff like that so we eventually got it back and she(dolly-the owner) wouldn’t even come down to talk to us. After I went through our belongings I found that articles of clothing were missing, jewelry, cologne, perfume, makeup, a stuffed animal I had received for my birthday from my grandpa (who has now passed) and held a special meaning to me was also missing. It was clear that the cleaning staff stole those items. There was also drug use in the building. One of the staff who lives there would walk around the halls without his shirt on, high on something and there was the occasional smell of pot in the hallways. I wouldn’t recommend staying here for extended periods of time and If you do use a credit/debit card so you have bank statements for proof if thinks start to seem fishy. When we arrived I was treated by a women who was almost done with her shift. She was very very friendly and helpful. When my family and I went into the room we first noticed there was dirt all over the floor and change all over the bed. I brushed it off and continued to get stuff organized for the night. When walking into the bathroom there was dried pee ALL OVER the toilet seat and underneath it. I cleaned it up and then noticed when the water was running it was pouring out the bottom of the sink on the floor. It was this time I asked my husband to request a new room. I NEVER do this. I’m extremely easy going however it was one thing after another. When speaking with the over night gentleman and another female that was there my husband said he almost acted offended that he was bringing this up. He did apologize but then when my husband said for him not to worry about it he went on to explain that it’s his job to apologize. My husband was a little taken back. My husband then just explained that the leak was extremely bad just to let them know it wasn’t a small leak and both individuals ignored him and continued eating their pizza. I rented a room here from September 1st to the 2nd to visit a friend in MN. I was Extremely dissapointed with our treatment. I spent $90 to occupy my room for a total of about 6 hours. My friend also booked a separate room we separated my friends service animal and her service animal in training between the 2 rooms. Upon checking out an employee named Julia cursed at my friend in the presence of her 13 year old daughter. She told her, that her service animal was a fu#$%ing aggressive dog that had no place there. The animal was a German shepherd . She was Extremely rude, discriminatory, and aggressive towards all of us. I asked for an itemized receipt upon checkout to cover my bases. I double checked what I'd paid for. Days later an additional unauthorized charge is pulled from my bank account. Mind you, I'm over 1000 miles away back home in Texas. I am in disbelief at the service or lack thereof...
