I had the pleasure of staying at the Home2 Suites in Owatonna, Minnesota, from September through December, and I cannot speak highly enough about my experience. The property is new, impeccably clean, and well-maintained, which created a welcoming and comfortable environment throughout my stay.
The housekeeping staff did a fantastic job ensuring the hotel was always spotless and inviting.
A special shoutout to Cindy and Venessa at the front desk, who went above and beyond to make my stay truly enjoyable. Their friendly and professional approach made me feel valued as a guest, and they were always eager to assist with any needs or questions I had.
The management team also deserves praise for their professionalism and leadership. When concerns arose, they addressed them promptly and took accountability for any mistakes—an uncommon but admirable quality. Instead of shifting blame, they demonstrated great leadership by owning the issues and resolving them effectively.
If I had one complaint and this has nothing to do at all with the front desk team, management or the owners.... well maybe. Hockey teams, I know they are a great revue booster during the season but for those of us that "live" there, this is a huge disruption to peace and regular day to day. As Nancy would say "just say no", include tumbling teams, and Russian ballerinas. The floors in this place are so loud. You can hear a vole run across the floor above you. What I'm saying is request a room on 4.
Overall, my experience at Home2 Suites was exceptional, and I wholeheartedly recommend this property to anyone visiting the Owatonna area. Thank you to the entire team for making my extended stay feel like a home...
Read moreShanie the Manager must be given huge credit. She is an outstanding asset to Hilton & Owatonna & the hotel industry. Her ability to work efficiently under extreme stress & be one of the most friendly, professional & kind people I have met in a hotel (and I have travelled a LOT) is par none. Shanie is an absolutely incredible Manager. She worked all night & then all day, due to the IT outage. We were driven 2 hours in from the airport & made welcome by her & the other staff. It is an outstanding experience especially given how horrific the IT outage was, causing them to have to open each time we needed to go back into the room manually. Shanie is one of a kind & we're so grateful to her for her consummate professionalism & kind heart. The actual hotel was great. We didn't intend to stay this was due to our flight being delayed 3 days nor did we intend to visit Owatonna but we're glad in a weird way it happened because Home2 Suites Hilton Owatonna is actually a great hotel. Clean. Well appointed. Good situation. Near stores. Walkable into town. Good breakfast options. Very spacious. Fair priced. Nice set-up in room. Comfortable clean beds. Excellent shower & bathroom. There wasn't a single negative & that's unusual. We were really taken care of & what had been a highly stressful experience coming from the Mayo in Rochester, turned into a few days of walking by the pretty river & appreciating Owatonna. Thank you Shanie; we really hope Hilton knows they have a diamond in you & you ARE appreciated for all you do for your customers. Definitely recommended...
Read moreThis is a fairly new location that was just built and has a lot of potential to be a very nice location. Parking is a bit crowded daily. The shower water pressure is terrible similar to that of a water dropper. The only recurring issue that I had during my stay was the motion sensing air conditioner in the room. It is the heat of summer right now in Minnesota (90F+) and the room air conditioner has a motion sensor that only activates the air conditioner when you are in the room and moving around. Every day I came back to a room that was over 90° and every night I woke up hot during the night because the air conditioner was no longer on. I Complained to front desk staff only to be told that they had deactivated the motion sensing on the air conditioners previously due to complaints. However, I found this assertion not to be true because the AC in my room throughout the week failed to keep the room cool, unless I was walking around moving in front of the sensor. I would recommend other hotels in the area that give you more control over the air conditioner because when I am paying For a hotel room, I want a cool room and not some penny pincher controlling the air conditioners. But like many other things, as long as they can pull this over on folks; it will continue. Overall, I am very disappointed...
