Small edit just in case I was wrong I changed the hour of noise reduction from 10pm to 6Pm (even so I'm in the room now at 7:08 and it's still noisy) The rest. And I am frustrated when I'm surved a low level experience even when it's in a polite way with a smile.

Readers : Be your own judge.

Original note:

I Booked an "executive suite" for a beach vacation It noted it's a non view which was ok as I needed 2 queen bed's When we arrived, the hotel looked nice. But when we got to the Room we found out it's a room over a very noisy Highway. I went down and asked to change it and was told no options existed. So I asked to cancel my second night as clearly my first night is already in so I can find a real beach experience hotel.

At this point the manager came out with a big smile and really nice attitude to explain to me and I quote The picture we show in our site are for sale just like a picture of hamburger will always look good. We even have shades in the room that looks like beach and we take the pictures with the shade That's sale. And You took a room with no view so that's what it is.

So I said but I came to a beach 3 stars hotel not to a Highway motel For this he said That if I checked Google maps I could see it's on Highway And offered me earplugs stating after 6 pm it's quite down except for loud motorcycles here and there.

A 3 stars hotel Sleep with earplugs?!?!?

And Finally With a very big smile and nice words told me that I can definitely cancel my second night but I will not get my money back as I booked it in advanced using mariot center /app and not in the Hotel.

Last beautiful quote from the manager "Not wanting to be in a room over a noisy Highway is a personal preference" like I'm so special thinking that's not something other people look for.

So Bottom line If you look for a beach Hotel this is not the one for you If (like the manager suggested) you have preference of a hotel room over noisy Highway Or you like sleeping with earplugs it's perfect hotel for you.

So my low rating of the hotel is because of my personal preference for a quite beach vacation hotel as I mistakenly thought this one is.

It might just be my mistake

You - the one reading this review can decide for yourself.

One last note Before COVID I was platinum mariot member as I was traveling a lot. With the level of disappointment I have in my last few bookings I don't see my self going to this...

Amazing and relaxing! My family stayed here recently for five nights. We stayed in a room that had two queen beds and a pull out sofa bed. This type of room only overlooks the highway. You cannot get an ocean view with this type of room. That's not a problem for us. This location had been the Holiday inn Express. This hotel has recently reopened under Marriott. It is at least twice the size and the entire hotel has been remodeled. Because it is new it is very clean, modern and updated. Here is an assessment of this hotel. PROS: The price is right - affordable rooms. Free, covered or outdoor parking with security cameras. A computer for business or personal use in the lobby. A small area where snacks are sold because a convenience store is not located nearby. Free hot breakfast every morning. A very nice and large fitness center. An outdoor deck to enjoy the wonderful ocean views. Stairs if you don't want to take the elevator. A large bathroom in every room. A mini fridge, Keurig coffee maker, and microwave in the room. The beds are comfortable. The windows in the rooms open to about 3 inches to allow in fresh air. Location! Just a few yards to the beach and to paved walking trails over the bluff to Pacifica State Beach. Also, 10 minutes and you're in San Francisco in 20 minutes you're to Golden gate Park. Safeway grocery store down the street as well. Smart TV in the rooms. Prompt service from the front desk staff. CONS: hot items in the breakfast area can run out fast. If the hotel is busy make sure you head down for breakfast well ahead of breakfast closing time. Otherwise you'll end up with cold cereal and oatmeal. If the hotel is busy you will have to park outside. The room doors won't always close all the way automatically. Make sure to push your door closed all the way from the inside or pull it closed all the way from the outside. The trash bins can overflow in the hallways because of the many guests using them. VERDICT: We had a wonderful stay here. We spent a lot of time at the hotel and really enjoyed all the amenities that had to offer. We felt very safe here and when we called the front desk for an item someone arrived promptly. The views are spectacular and they did a wonderful job at modernizing the location. Will...

For reviewers -- do not be fooled by the stock imagery on their website. Here is my response to their GM on the issue of paying nearly $400/night for a view of potter potties, homeless on the beach, and, the roof and side of the hotel: Andrew,

Thank you for emailing me back -- I was otherwise unsure whether properties actually read their reviews. I think it's tantamount to false advertisement that you would place higher rates on consumers ability to book a room with a clear expectation that they are paying premium rates for the purpose of getting a full view when in reality the stock image for those rooms is actually just a pulldown screen cover.

The review was predicated on two things:

  1. The fact that I called in advance and was informed that if I pay the higher premium I am reserving what I expected to see -- a full view.
  2. I arrived early (noon check-in) long before most people arrive only to be informed that only 1 room with a partial view was available. Somehow the front office neglected to mention a third of the view was a parking lot, potter potties, homeless people roaming the quarter view, and, the idyllic (sarcasm) rooftop and side wall of the facility.
  3. When requesting a room change I was informed that all other rooms were booked (at noon long before most people check-in).

So what's my point here? My point is, do not set up false expectations for consumers only to be puzzled by why they would review such atrocious reviews. I would have spent twice or three times the amount I paid so long as my expectations were met. By setting false pretenses, what you ruined for me was not the money but the value of my time with my family and a set of expectations that left a sour taste in my mouth the minute I realized I was bamboozled and then responded to by your front desk staff as if they are doing me a favor, "we try to be as accommodating as possible."

Here is the deal though -- I paid the premium price so I would not have to be accommodated; from my view, my time and money was wasted.

No one enjoys being...

I booked two rooms for a stay here and here are my observations. Quick summary, service is a miss and rooms, location and upkeep do make the cut. Read on 1. Location - Right on US1 in Pacifica/ Rockaway Beach. 2. Pricing - We stayed on a weekday in Sep 22 and the hotel was pricey about $269 plus taxes. This is not in Fairfield category, more like Marriott and Westin! 3. Parking - Parking is free with an strange entrance to the lobby, however the numerous signs that parking is at owners risk does not add to the confidence. 4. Breakfast - Free hot breakfast included in the rates, like other Fairfield however it was basic and lacked vegetarian options. Usual waffles, oatmeal, sausage, coffee etc 5. Transit - Could see lot of buses, guessing one could easily use it to get to the city. 6. Age - The property is upto date and this was saving grace. However, we could not help noticing a stale and uncomfortable smell when window AC was turned on. This was a big letdown. 7.Room - The rooms have everything! Flat screen TV, lot of space, large work desk, USB ports, fridge, microwave, ironing board etc and most importantly spotless bathrooms. 8.Service - I expected a smooth check in after I had called in about 2 hours prior to checking in. Although my rooms were ready, the check in was not as seamless and smooth. Being a Marriott Gold the first time I was asked for my address, phone etc. Not a big deal, however no upgrades even on a weekday, not even for one of the two when we paid full price. I have been upgraded on reservations with points. 9. Wifi - Fast, reliable connectivity. 10. Sustainability- Happy to see the refillable containers for soap, shampoo and conditioners. Wish to see Marriott do more. Overall experience was that it could have been better. The whole area of Rockaway Beach has boutique inns and hotels right next door, that are great value for money. Overall score - 4/5 Transit - 4/5 Sustainability - 4/5
