I stayed at this hotel from December 6-10 and, to be honest, I was expecting more, so I left feeling a bit disappointed. Here are a few points that stood out:
Room cleaning: On the second day, the room was cleaned, but trash was still on the floor, and the coffee mugs were left dirty on the counter. I also only received on glass instead of 2. It seemed like the cleaner only made the bed and left without doing a thorough job.
Fridge amenities: The water bottles in the fridge weren't replenished on day 2 during my stay, which felt like an oversight.
Spa experience: My husband and I booked individual spa appointments for the same time on Sunday at 1:30 PM. However, when we arrived, we were told only one appointment had been booked. I had specifically asked for two separate appointments, as we prefer to be in different rooms. This was quite frustrating and disappointing, especially since we booked in person when we arrived and made sure everything is clear. They offered a day pass for the mess up.
Spa Pool: so I headed to the spa pool, I was ready to order snacks, but after waiting 35 minutes, someone finally appeared to take my order. The staff member had given me a menu and then disappeared for 10 minutes. With only 15-20 minutes left in my husband’s massage, I decided not to order anything and wonder around.
Pool area at the Spa : The pool benches were covered in leaves and not cleaned. Also, there were no towels available, so I had to grab one from a reserved cabana, as there was no staff around to request one from. I think by now you can tell my spa experience was not great. I had made my decision to not book a massage for the next day.
Bath slippers: My husband, who wears a size 11, was given bath slippers in the room that were only size 7. I called reception, and after a couple of follow-up calls and two hours of waiting, they still didn’t follow up or respond. It would have been helpful if they’d just let us know they didn’t have larger sizes instead of leaving us waiting.
Food options: The poolside food was mediocre at best, and with only one restaurant on the property, it closes around 1:30 AM, I believe. Opens again at 5pm. Room service is available but comes with a $5 delivery fee and a 22% gratuity charge, which felt steep for a smaller property.
TV in the room: Connecting my computer to the TV was a hassle, especially with the internet only getting 2 bars in the room. In this day and age, no hotel should lack l Netflix or Youtube app on the TV. I could only connect my phone.
On the positive side, the main pool was very clean and heated, and the hotel’s location was great and the property is beautiful.
The staff were friendly, and there is a house car that offers transportation within 3 miles until 11 PM.
Overall, I think there are better hotel options nearby, and I personally wouldn’t return...
Read moreI rated it good b/c there were some pros and cons. The property was immaculate, scenery was great as well. The spa was AMAZING and worth every penny. It was definitely my favorite part. It really made it feel like a luxury hotel. The staff was kind and did a great job making small talk and providing a welcoming experience. We were offered drinks and cookies upon arrival, also when just lounging. We were escorted to our rooms and bags carried to and from upon arrival and departure. They will drive you to local places less than 3 miles away. Take them up on that! The average Uber/Lyft from hotel to 4-5 miles away was $25. They will also store your bags if you arrive early or check out before heading to airport. Now the not good, when I booked online I booked the retreat room. I arrived a little before two and was told my room was not ready but they had one for me. I asked if it would be the same and have the private pool. She said she wasn't sure what I meant but we could use any pool.(I wish at the point she would of asked if we wanted to wait for retreat room) Well the room received was a standard room and a wheel chair friendly room so some things were different. Mainly bathroom and patio area. I called the next morning and asked if we could have our original retreat room I booked or even a room with regular shower and patio area. I was told nothing was available. I also had to question about the additional charges. I knew there were resort fees but it looked as if at minimum $300 or more was charged in addition to resort fees. They said it was standard just in case I charged something to the room. And to be fair I could of totally missed that memo when booking so heads up for everyone else. They did refund immediately what I did not charge upon check out. I had to request that they charge me the rate of a standard room since they retreat was not available. I thought that should of been automatic but they honored my request. We didn't do too many of the cultivate activities, I signed up for some and then canceled after the first. We did the pastry class which was in actuality a sugar cookie decorating class. The chef was GREAT and friendly but not exactly what I expected of a pastry class. Also, we after a few hours at the pool we came to escape the heat and watch some TV only to find out the only options for streaming services was to cast from your personal device. Surely they could at minimum have smart TV's. Even playing music from the TV wasn't an option. Overall not getting the "retreat room" experience kinda put a bummer on it. Even though everyone was great I probably wouldn't stay again because the room just felt like a standard hotel but at a five star cost. Beautiful and clean but not spectacular that felt like a retreat...
Read moreThis was our first stay at the Andaz. We were welcomed immediately and it was a very personal check in process. Our room was fantastic. Huge walk in shower and had our own little private patio out back and another patio out front. It's entirely a single level resort with all bungalows. We are already planning a return visit. The reason for the 4 star instead of 5 star was our experience at the Weft and Warp bar. We had breakfast daily and it was great. However, at the bar was another story. I ordered a Mich Ultra and it was served in a brandy glass?? Thought it was odd and asked for a chilled tall glass, they didn't have chilled glasses and the bartender told me that was the glass its served in? So a first for me but whatever right, its a beer. But my wife wanted a strawberry daiquiri, as it was well over 100 degrees, which they do not have. Again kinda odd for a bar not to have that we thought. So she asked for a midori sour, again, they do not have midori sour. The bartender did say he wished they'd carry it as they have a lot of requests for it. Now we are not big drinkers, but we have never been to any bar that didn't have either of those two drinks. So her 3rd choice was a cranberry & vodka, they HAD IT!!! Usually those are served in a high ball glass, but this glass was so small that 3 ice cubes filled it up. Besides the shot of vodka there was possibly equivalent of 4 shots of cranberry juice. The glass was smaller than my iPhone 7 ;) I've never seen a cocktail served in such a tiny glass before, not even in vegas. We were just glad our room included 4 drinks per day because no way would I have paid $13 for that drink. So we spent Saturday at the pool, guess what they served, Strawberry daiquiri's!!!! You would of thought the bartender would of told us that. My wife said they were delicious. The pool itself was pretty big and had plenty of lounges and cabana's, if that's your thing. Service was great. Only thing about the pool we didn't like was people actually eating in the pool, drinking is one thing, but eating? Also the water was like bath water, not refreshing at all. After we left the Andaz we went to Indian Wells and stayed at the Hyatt, their sister property, and the water was way cooler and the weather is pretty close to the same. Overall, this is a great place to stay and we will be back, we just won't be going to the Weft...
