After our dining experience last night, Weft & Warp immediately became a new favorite restaurant in Scottsdale/Phoenix. To start, valet was super attentive and let us know that he’d be leaving soon but would park our car up front and then find us in the restaurant to give us our key which was perfect as it was raining. The hostess was very nice as well and let us have our choice of seating since the dining area was starting to clear out a bit. The bar though was still very active which was nice as it added a bit of entertainment to our dinner (we love to people watch). The restaurant design and decor was functional, beautiful and inspiring to us for ideas in our own home. The main kitchen was enclosed by glass on three sides so you could watch the chef(s) work their magic. We love being able to see the culinary side of restaurants and enjoy just watching everyone at work. Our reservation was for 9:30 so we did come close to when the kitchen was closing (10) but it didn’t take us long to find some amazing choices on the menu to order and we never felt rushed. It helped that we were starving! We also ordered drinks which were reasonably priced in line with nice restaurant and being on a hotel property. Michael took care of our table and he was fantastic, funny, attentive and we enjoyed conversing with him. He also took some pictures for us and even a funny video. My wife and I love to share food which made this menu even more amazing as the portions were perfect for 2-3 people. Michael helped us select the perfect amount of food that left us full but not stuffed with only a few scraps left of each dish. We saved just enough room for two scoops of salted marshmallow and chocolate ice cream which was made in house. For dinner we ordered three items from the Mezze section and one dish from the pasta section. We had the Turkish Manti and Sumac Spiced Beet Dip as our 1st course. These were amazing to the point that you truly slow down your eating so you can taste and enjoy every bite. We only have one small suggestion to add a touch more seasoning/salt to ground beef and onion on the inside of the Turkish Manti dumplings. But in no way would that keep us from ordering it again in the future. The Beet dip was both beautiful and delicious and came with perfectly toasted and seasoned Za’atar Pistachio Laffa (you’ll wanna ask for a little extra laffa to enjoy and for getting every bit of dip eaten). Then for our main course we ordered the Hamachi on puffed rice paper which was fun to figure out how to eat (don’t worry there’s no wrong way, just enjoy however you want to)! The blend of ingredients was perfect and our taste buds came alive with the sweetness, heat from the jalapeños and the salt. In addition we ordered the Black Pepper Grmelli which was from the pasta section. The pasta was cooked to perfection and the pancetta pieces we larger than you’d typically get in a pasta dish but that was a good thing for us and added to the excellence of the dish and its flavor. The pasta dish was just the right portion to share and helped fulfill our appetite. Lastly the two scoops of house made ice cream gave us that perfect sweet ending to a delectable and divine meal. Thank you Michael, Chef and staff for making this a wonderful experience and night out, we will be back! Sincerely, Peter and...
Read moreIf I could give this place 0 stars I would. First sentence from our server was, "is there anything other than water I can get you". Second sentance was, "do you know what you want to order". I kid you not. I could get better service at McDonalds. I asked about the chef's daily mkt special and was told the fish special instead. Had to ask again before given the actual daily special which was a seafood linguine. I am not one to be offended easily, but I swear given that my table of three were the only Asian "minorities" in the room, I couldn't help to think if we were being discriminated against by this 20 something year old server. Food was mediocre. My corn and tortilla soup was probably the best dish at my table. Cevice tasted funny (the texture of the fish was off). 4 "large" prawns was anything but large and came on top of some sort of corn based mush. Texturally weird and tasted weird as well. Fish special was Mahi Mahi (cooked well) but completely bland with insufficient saucing (what saucing there was, was purely decorative for the plate). Was served on top of a massive heap of quinoa which was way too much and also bland. Took about 25 min to settle our bill. Waiter said their systems could not split out the bill and best he could do was estimate what we wanted to pay on each credit card. We told him how we wanted it split ($50 on one card, $55 on another, and balance on the third or best approximation), also took a pen and marked each receipt item and which card to charge it on. Went away for 15 min and came back with a 3 way equal split of the bill, completely disregarding what we asked for. How this place is receiving 4.6 stars on Google is insane. It has only 3.5 stars on Yelp. The only thing positive I can say about this place was the design of the space is nice and the live music from the violinist was pretty good but the entire experience was wrecked by our server and extremely dissapointing food. It has probably been 5 years since I 0 tipped a restaurant but my entire table was so p*ssed that we could not justify any...
Read moreWe’ve stayed at Andaz resort before in Maui and it was much nicer than the Andaz Scottsdale. We were very disappointed in our bed. My side of the bed sank. They did change our room to a mini suite, which was appreciated. But it seems Andaz beds are all the same. Even Hawaii mattress had a sinkhole on one side. The breakfast is very expensive and terrible. The coffee is awful and truly tastes very bitter, even the cappuccino tasted bitter. My husbands bacon was rubbery. His omelet wasn’t great either. We chose the Bed Breakfast package. This is a $30 per person credit. Breakfast bill was $90! Pancakes were $23 although they were good, but not worth $23. His omelet $23 as well. Oatmeal $16. I don’t mind paying when it’s great. This was not great at all. Only food that was great was the shrimp curry we had as an appetizer. Room is okay, but not luxury at all. Ice machine was not working and it’s 116 degrees here. They could’ve fixed it ASAP. The main pool was not impressive and had cups on the floor under seats, pool water was cloudy and it wasn’t that nice, so we stayed at the spa pool which was nicer. Overall not really as it has been touted online. We truly were disappointed and expected a better luxurious room with newer carpet that did not have multiple stains. Grounds are pretty and staff...
