We booked the SmokeTree for a weekend stay in Scottsdale. The location is ideal, and the price was good. We were traveling with a dog, and they didn’t charge a pet fee, which is nice.||The property is a collection of small buildings, with three or four rooms in each. The rooms are more like old style apartments, with cinder block construction and low ceilings. There are mini kitchens, a full living room, separate bedroom, and large walk-in closet, which is really not useful for a short stay. The bathroom is small, with no counter space making it pretty inconvenient.||Though the hotel description on TripAdvisor states “recently remodeled”, the room was very outdated and in need of maintenance. A fresh coat of paint would go a long way. The furniture is worn and out of style. The bed was really old and extremely uncomfortable. The carpet was worn at the transition from the tile in the living area. It is possible that we were put into an older room because we were traveling with a pet, but I walked the grounds and the exterior of all the buildings looked like they were all in the same shape. ||The hotel description on TripAdvisor also indicates the property is 5 acres, but I would say it’s barely one. The gardens are well taken care of, and the pool area is nice, but smaller than it looks in the photos. It is really nice with a dog because the pool area is fenced in, and covered in grass. ||The staff were very pleasant and friendly. We had a problem with a noisy neighbor (as I said, there is no sound proofing), and they responded quickly and were very pleasant about it.||All in all, the SmokeTree could be a really nice place, but it does need some attention. I think they’d be better off renting as a vacation rental for longer stays and people looking for more of a home away from...
Read moreI will forever be grateful to the wonderful staff at this hotel. You all are rockstars!!!!
Went out to see my Grandfather who is close to being called home. It was a very short, rushed, and emotional trip.
Literally there for a day and a half. On the day I went to visit we were set to also check out. It was hot (120°) I was stressed on where to put my husband and dog child while I was having one of the most important visits in my life. (My Grandfather is my hero) The staff; who wasn't steered in this direction just offered out of the goodness of their hearts to let my boys stay till I came back from the visit.
We are from San Diego and just not use to this heat it was a HUGE HUGE weight taken off my shoulders and I was able to go spend time w/ the man who literally taught me everything. While hubby and dog child got much needed rest in the much needed AC!!!
Smoke tree staff, from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU. What you did may seem like a small task. I can honestly say it was everything!
These guys should start holding seminars on customer service for the rest of the world. 😜
God Bless and Thanks again.
As for the room, was great. Had a front door which was sliding glass also had a back door. Felt like a nice sized one bedrm apt. Huge walk in closet btw. Lush gardens and "Trader Joe" like store on site. The husband was so smitten with that place its all he talks about when mention of this trip is made.
It is quite at night really during the day as well. I wish I would have taken some pictures to post but honestly its a wonderful place and Priceline gave us a wonderful...
Read moreTo those people who've whined in their reviews about the lack of perfection -- scratchy towels, unpaved areas of the parking lot, a water spot on the ceiling, etc. -- go stay in a chain and whine there. I don't see how anybody could not like staying at SmokeTree. You get SO much more vs. staying at a chain. Our bungalow (#7) was delightful -- spacious living room with both couch and comfy chair/ottoman, a backyard with grass, table/chairs, and lots of interesting trees and bushes (many in bloom), kitchen complete with sink, microwave, fridge, plates/bowls/glasses/silverware and dining table with 2 chairs, bedroom with comfy bed and 2nd TV, clean and bright bathroom, walk-in closet with more room than we could possibly use, parking right at our door. The grounds are lovingly maintained and quiet. Interesting birds I'm not familiar with running around the grounds. A koi pond. I moved my unit's table and chairs from the patio to a shady spot far in the backyard under some trees and then spent hours reading my newspapers and books to the sound of birds singing and chirping. Saw a very large lizard sunning itself on a rock. The staff was friendly and helpful. Could some things have been better? Of course, there's always room for improvement. But such things were far outweighed by the uniqueness and home-like feel of this place. This was our first stay here, but it won't...
