I stayed here over the weekend with my friend for a girls’ trip, and we had the most amazing time! I have hardly any complaints. The front desk staff was incredibly kind and accommodating—we interacted with multiple team members, and every single one of them was fantastic. I’ve never experienced such consistently great service at a hotel.
Some standout perks: unlimited free water bottles, unlimited cookies, and a complimentary shuttle service that takes you anywhere within a 2-mile radius. There’s so much within that range—Trader Joe’s, pharmacies, Fashion Square Mall, and tons of great food options in Old Town Scottsdale. We easily saved at least $250 on Uber rides thanks to the shuttle, and it was extremely well-run. You just check in with the front desk, and they call the driver, who provides an ETA that was always accurate. I’ve been to other resorts where we waited over an hour for a shuttle—this was nothing like that!
They also gave us a complimentary late checkout (an extra hour), and even after checking out, you’re still welcome to use the property and amenities. I was able to hang out at the pool for another three hours and grab a meal at the restaurant before leaving. They also offer free luggage storage before check-in and after checkout, which is a really nice touch.
The only slight downside was that our room was on the far side of the hotel, so we had about a five-minute outdoor walk to the lobby each time. However, with that long walk, we had a really nice view of the pool, which was great. The only other issue is that while the rooms are updated and modern, the bathrooms are extremely outdated and very small—when you open the door, you can’t even access the shower or toilet without closing it first because it’s so cramped. It didn’t really bother me, but if they modernized the bathrooms, the whole hotel would feel much more elevated. The lobby, rooms, and grounds are well-maintained and stylish, but the bathrooms take away from the otherwise high-end feel.
We booked somewhat last minute and paid around $200 per night, which felt fair for what we got. I’ve seen prices drop as low as $90 per night and go up to $400 per night—I definitely wouldn’t pay $400, but at $200, it was well worth it.
Between the free water, shuttle rides, and overall service, I definitely feel like the resort fee was well worth it. I would absolutely...
Read moreWe came to Doubletree Resort as attendees to a convention. We had group rates because of that. The room was on the ground floor, pleasant, and large enough to have enough extra space to be comfortable. The patio faced the pool, but the room was quiet, and had sun darkening drapes. The bathroom had extra dressing space with a large mirror which was helpful. The closet came with a safe. I reported the room door, which did not close completely and therefore was not secure. There were no security gates separating ground floor rooms from outside areas. Parking was free, except for valet, and not too distant. We did run into some attitude and possibly deception with the valet. Since we were parked close in, we opted for no valet parking or luggage help, but we had to ask for their help to secure us a luggage cart. He said he had to unlock the door where those are kept, but we found out later that this storage area does not lock. He was disgruntled when we did not tip. We managed to avoid him for the rest of our stay, which got off on this unpleasant note. It's a large resort and we spent some time learning how to find our way around. Room hallways enter from the patio, so one goes outside to find their hall. There is a restaurant featuring three meals a day, a grab and go, and patio dining. There are two swim pools and another water fountain feature. Extra space is provided to relax with friends, coffee or drinks, or privately on the grounds. The grounds are lighted attractively at night. During the morning hours, yard crews are at work near the outside patios. The convention space is generous with room for breakout meetings, and dining and/or party space related to one's group. There is a gym, but I did not find a sauna. There are three housekeeping plans for guests who stay multiple nights, or it is possible to decline completely. One should not expect daily housekeeping, unless specifically requested. I noticed some lack of attention to detail, that I found surprising at a resort of this standing. I also noticed some unhelpful attitudes. Upon checkout, review the charges carefully. We put a meal on our room tab and ended up being...
Read moreOverall I can't complain too much as I was just looking for a nice relaxing stay with some amenities... I'm a Vanlife traveler, And decided to treat myself to a staycation for Christmas. I was looking around the area for somewhere where I could have access to a bathtub as well as fire pits and hot tubs. And since even with the resort fee this wasn't that much more than the other locations I decided to go for it.
The good: The room was super clean, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and I loved the patios. There's also a great area near one of the pools that has hammocks and a fountain. Both pools are really nice. And the staff is exceptional
The annoying: One of the hot tubs doesn't work and it seems like the fire pit doesn't work either but there's no signs or information anywhere. Also there are no microwaves in the rooms and the fridge doesn't have any way for you to adjust it and it basically froze all of the food that I did bring. And my coffee maker didn't work. For somewhere that calls itself a resort I don't feel like this is acceptable (I will say that the front desk was very nice and sent an entire carafe of hot water after I called and asked to rectify the coffee maker situation. Which was great for the morning but then I had to keep asking throughout the day anytime I wanted tea or any hot drink. also there is a microwavable accessible to guests, but it's in the market in the lobby which is just annoying)
Another meh thing: The omelette I got for breakfast was really good. Definitely not $20 worth… Especially when there are amazing spots relatively close by so you're basically just paying for convenience and a resort name. I am very glad though that I went with that instead of the breakfast buffet. After taking a look at it, I can't imagine why it cost $26 when it's essentially the same layout that I get for free whenever I stay at Homewood suites (which is often for work)
Overall this was a great stay and it's in a good location. And considering what the rates could be for a resort in Scottsdale, I'm hoping that the rates are more reasonable simply because there's so much broken stuff and...
