WOW!! This place was so cute and what an amazing stay we had! Booked this for my boyfriends birthday week. We wanted a place to have fun and that was close to downtown and let me tell YA it didn't dissapoint! First off the vibe here is total AZ of what I imagined. Total instagram perfection selfie spots here. It's an influencers play house! Between the fun signs and decor from the super fun pool with cabannas lined up all around. They even HAVE a speak easy bar which was the icing on the cupcake for me. Just a fun and sexy thing to have before grabbing dinner and once again the vibe and gorg decor carried on. Not sure if its available (to guests who aren't staying here though) NOW if you have kids I know they would be more than welcomed. However, between the DJ pool parties, I would suggest leaving this place as a fun getaway from them. Or bring them off season if you do have them with.
I did schedule a amenity before hand for champs and a cootie board (aka charcuterie) for those who can't pronounce it like I can't to be delivered to our room upon arrival. I found the menu to be very well price and great packages to choose from. My only gripe about this one was the process with the form they sent was very hard to use and then another for payment. My improvement suggestion would be a simple link that is user friendly maybe even with pictures. Give me a one stop shop for this. Due to the form not being as easy to use our request ended up getting cancelled because of the confusion from my end on what the name for the card was for vs they needed the name of the hotel booked under. They corrected it right away and ended up taking care of it which was incredibly great service and much appericated!!
We also had a verry late check in and arrived 10 mins before kitchen was closing. We thought we would ask but was told they were already closed which was understandable. We walked to our room and a very kind gentleman named Marquise chased us down and said he would get our request in and even came back and delievered it to us. This type of service speaks volumes especially in todays world.
The pool parties with the fire playlist was a blast and the bar in the back was perfect. I will say on a Saturday which was pretty much booked with all the cabanans they had one that sat empty for several hours but ssaid reserved. We decided to check with the back team at the bar and see. They had already had someone book it but didnt show up so they wouldn't allow us to reserve it. I think a change would be for people who don't show up to have a 1 or 2 hour hold anything after that should be up for grabs to rent! The pool area stayed immaculatly clean and had some fun highlights like the ping pong table and nice fire place.
The resturant here we ate at the most not ONE item we didn't like and I am foodie so it says alot. Creme brulee french toast, to chicken wraps and everything in between. Major kuddos.
One of the best stays we have had and are so excited to visit here! Super close to downtown and plenty of scooters to rent around. Service was more than phenonmenal and would love to know the air freshner they used smelt like sweet warm cookies, swoooon! Also another weird but amazing was the shower head had actual pressure and appreciated no shower curtain but instead glass doors. It's the little things that go along wa. Stay here book it now, you won't regret it depsite the...
Read moreWe booked this hotel for the weekend of our wedding and couldn't have been more disappointed.
After being in contact with several managers there and having little to no communication since November from them, Dani helped us craft a nice welcome party. However, no one else seemed to know about it. The signage, special drinks, music and snack menus she had promised didn't exist. When we showed up, the bar was charging our guests for drinks, after we had even done a CC form ahead of time. In talking with the bartenders, they knew about none of it. They then did help us establish our tab.
I dropped off welcome bags on Thursday, I talked to the front desk about and they said they would hand them to our guests when they checked in. Friday, we found out that no one had received any. They then all started going to the front desk to retrieve them. Saturday AM, I went to talk to them about it and they basically said, I'm too busy and don't care so just call our manager, Ryan. I collected the remaining bags to distribute them myself. Friday night, at the speakeasy after the horrendous welcome party experience, I attempted to grab a chair for my 85-year-old grandfather who had just flown all the way from Philly. I was then berated by the bartender about the beer in my hand from the welcome party, and several security guards came to kick me out. After explaining the situation to the security guards they let me stay, but what an embarrassment and quite the scene for the 2 dozen friends and family I had in there, (basically the whole bar) buying drinks from the bar. I let Dani know that we would be leaving the wedding at 11 and would be back at the hotel by 1130 for a drink after. She let me know that the bars shut at midnight, however, they usually stay open if there are people wanting to buy drinks. Well, everyone showed up at 1130 and everything was shut, our whole party scattered and we didn't get to have drinks with them after. After all of this, I found out that my parent's room was never cleaned, bed made, toiletries replaced, etc. When they mentioned it at checkout, they said it was a one-off. Pam Brown emailed them saying it must've been an isolated incident. Well, that was over several days and then we found out that many of my family and friends also never had any of their rooms cleaned, even after asking for it! So not a one-off, a system failure. Only one guest got $100 off their bill. And not that it's necessary, but even after all the conversation, notes on the account, events we were having, etc, not one person wished us congratulations or good luck, offered any type of special treatment or gift, a bottle of champagne, a beer, anything. That's just bad hospitality and manners. Instead, I was charged an extra $150 to my room bill for an alcohol spill that we are very sure never happened. With the exception of the two bartenders, the security guards, and the waitress in the breakfast area, all of the employees were rude to me and my guests. After reaching out to the operations manager Ryan and the general manager Scott, they offered apologies but also said they had a different perspective. My many emails leading up to this, and the many different guests we had there, with their own accounts, prove otherwise.
In summary, stay far away from this hotel. There are plenty of other great Marriott properties in the area that actually care about...
Read moreI would recommend this hotel to the average traveller who wants a nice pool surrounded by palm trees. This was the best part of the hotel. It is also close (20 minutes by walking to the shopping centre) which also has a lot of restaurants. Also within walking distance of Old Scottsdale and it is a cheap Uber Ride back to the hotel if you get too tired or hot.
Overall, I had a great girls week (5 days) at the hotel. The breakfast menu was good and the coffee was great. We also sampled from the snack menu (the mushroom truffle pizza and squid/shrimp were FANTASTIC), as well, the pitcher cocktails were refreshing.
The room was cleaned every day, and overall the front staff, people working in the restaurant were really pleasant and attentive. There was one particular guy who worked the morning at the restaurant who would always say, "I got you", not sure what his name was, but he was really really good and nice. We appreciated him!
Coming from Canada, where it had snowed a day earlier, the 32C heat was a nice respite. The hotel had great beach/boho vibes. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating for dining. Free wateebottles in the room and at the front desk, which was helpful later, as thi was our first time in Arizona. We stayed in Scottsdale, but also rented a car for a day and hiked up in Sedona. So, the water came in handy.
I give the hotel 4 stars though, because there is no outside food allowed. I understand the hotel is trying to make money, but on our last day, we ordered salads from Cava (keep in mind, this was after having breakfast at the hotel every day, plus snacks, plus drinks poolside as well as at the bar. We dropped hundreds between the 3 of us on food and booze), and we were told we were not allowed to eat it at the pool. When asked if we could eat it at the back if the hotel restaurant we were met with a, "No. They are trying to make money." Keep in mind, we were told this when not 4 feet away there were two women with Trader Joe's bags eating chips, dip and fruit, clearly from outside and yet....we were told to go eat in the room. The rooms are dark and there is no real place to eat. They need to have a communal area where outside food can be eaten. Particularly because the front desk has a drop-off for outside food (ubereats/doordash), so there is a clear acknowledgment that outside food is allowed. When we got back to our room, they were cleaning it. So, we were wet, hot and unable to eat anywhere. The cleaning staff was super fast and understood, but the guy at the pool seemed to arbitrarily apply the rules. Really annoying and unhelpful, particularly because we had drinks poolside too...
Overall though, great first...
