Had a party of 10 and went in for an anniversary.
They stop taking reservations at 7:00 and we wanted to have dinner at 8:00. So we (2 of the 10 of us) went in at 7:36 to get a table. We immediately were asked if we had a reservation, which I would have loved to have a reservation but they stopped taking reservations at 7:00. So we told them that they stop taking reservations so we don't have one. But they're able to get us a table really quickly which was great.
Then once our whole party arrives our server ignored us from 7:40 to 8:20 for 40 minutes. One member of our party was late by 20 minutes and we said we'd start without her and she got there right as our server actually started talking to us. The server didn't even get water for the table beforehand. Our server was clearly irritated and overall was giving bad service. The server didn't answer any questions about the menu or help us in any way. We wanted to know which wines we could buy by the bottle. She was extremely rude.
I understand that 10 people is a lot to take but because we were there so early she could have gotten drinks for everybody or other things to lighten her load later on but she did not. Everyone at the table spent a good amount of money and at the end of the night the server was slowly starting to try and be nice.
We went in for board and bottle which gives you a discount on a wine bottle and a board. Then the tip did not include the discount. For instance, the price was about $27 for one person (tax included) but the tipping options were $13.5 for 20% (around there). Also the server just pushes the credit card reader right in front of your face and watches you press the buttons. They don't print it out and give it to you so you can do the math or think about it. it's do it right on the spot.
I highly recommend paying in cash going to postino's. It turned a $30 meal into a $50 meal per person. Food was great but I don't think it's worth coming to this location. I thought the bottle and board would be really fun with a group but that server honestly ruined the...
Read moreIt's unfortunate when you're forced to wait over an hour for your food. That's even more true when you have to get back to the office. But as unfortunate as it is, most restaurants have the wherewithal to apologize for the long wait, the missing food, and the botched orders. Postino Highland is not most restaurants.
My co-worker made a reservation at this location for a birthday lunch, and our team came to celebrate. On arriving at around noon, I ordered a beer, and one of my fellow diners ordered a pitcher of the same beer. While my friend received his pitcher, I never received my glass. We all then gave our lunch orders, for which we waited over an hour.
This would have been fine if, as I said, there had been some attempt at explanation or apology. However, we were met with silence, and I still awaited my beer after all this time. Then, some of the food arrived — but not all of it. The friend of mine who got his beer pitcher ordered the same lunch combo as me, but it never came. He had to request it be comped, and I found that my own bill listed a beer pitcher for myself. I had to correct this, as I not only ordered one glass, but it never arrived.
Again, we received no explanation and no apology. When my friend brought up the wait, the server made the bold claim that we'd showed up without a reservation — which, of course, was clearly untrue. It's clear that management or host staff aren't communicating with their wait staff. On top of that, the server's attitude makes it clear that management hasn't taught them how to apologize when the going gets tough. I don't ask much, and I waited very patiently — but to receive no care or attention from wait staff is a trait of poor service. It's unlikely I or my co-workers would come here again without significant changes to the attitudes...

If you haven't been to Postino - Highland, you're seriously missing out on one of Scottsdale's best kept secrets. This place is the epitome of casual and fun, with a cool vibe that just makes you want to hang out all day. The bar area is a nice size, perfect for grabbing a seat and chatting with their incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Now, let's talk Happy Hour. From the moment they open until 5:00 PM, you can snag any wine for just $6. With a variety as wide as their smiles, it's a no-brainer to start with a sparkling and then work your way through the list. And don't worry, beer lovers—they've got specials for you too.
The food? Oh, the food! I stumbled upon a little secret online: sign up for their emails, and you get a free bruschetta board. Naturally, I had to try this out, and the coupon arrived faster than you can say "bruschetta battle." This month, it's Berry Mascarpone vs. French Onion, and let me tell you, deciding between these was harder than choosing a favorite child. Spoiler alert: both are phenomenal.
Each bruschetta board comes with four good-sized slices of bread, each cut into four pieces, making it perfect for sharing. We tried the berry, the onion, and two others, and every bite was a delightful adventure.
The best part? They've got a whole summer Battle of the Bruschetta going on, with new contenders every month. We're already marking our calendars for the August showdown between Buffalo Cauliflower and Philly Cheesesteak, followed by the championship battle in September.
In short, Postino - Highland is not to be missed. Great food, inexpensive wines, and a fun vibe—what more could you ask...
