Black Diamond Lodge — Hotel in Park City

The Black Diamond Lodge was perfect for our MLK weekend ski trip to Deer Valley. We were 3 moms and 4 kids, and the location next to ski school/ snow park lodge could not have been better. The bunny slopes were right outside our window.||||We rented a 3 Bedroom/4 Bath condo. I was a little hesitant as the decor online did not look so appealing, but the condo/amenities were beautiful in person. Modern and clean. ||||Condo: Well laid out, spacious, modern, great storage space. Flat screen TVs in each room, and in the den/living room. Kitchen had every utensil/appliance you might need though we did not cook during our short stay. One bathroom had a sliding door that kept getting stuck, and another bathroom’s shower door broke during our stay. Otherwise unit was well-maintained. Hot tub on unit deck was nice after a day of skiing.||||Housekeeping: Unit was pristine when we arrived. Day to day, it seems like they just tidied up but did not clean thoroughly (ie. bandaid wrapper on floor that one of the kids dropped remained there after the cleaning). ||||Service: Exceptional. Front desk staff/manager, ski valets were so helpful and gracious. Everyone was pleasant, accommodating, and smiling (despite our rambunctious group). Liked the use of texting to contact staff.||||Ski Valet: Such a nice feature to be able to ski back to the condo, and have the valet help us with our boots/store equipment. One set of our ski boots was misplaced overnight and the manager personally went down to skier services to get a replacement. The ski valet helped us carry back our ski returns at the end of our trip. Again, staff/service was wonderful. Minimal to no lugging of ski equipment if you stay here, which was ideal for us!||||Amenities: Continental breakfast (pastries, oatmeal, cereals) was complimentary. It was held in the kids’ playroom and there was not much seating, but we preferred taking the food up to our room anyway. The coffee machine was great -- and could make any hot chocolate/coffee drink you could think of. It was also located in playroom, and available all day. Finally, there was a complimentary apres ski spread with wines/beer/soft drinks, appetizers (turkey chili one day, deli meats/bread another), cookies put out daily.||**Kids playroom has a wii, ping pong table, ?foosball I think, games, chalkboard -- the kids enjoyed it.||||We had stayed at Montage in a 4 bedroom residence previously. That was very nice (with many on-site activities over Thanksgiving) but I would consider Black Diamond comparable in terms of comfort and convenience (especially when traveling with kids and wanting to be close to ski school). Black Diamond wins for warmth and complimentary features (breakfasts/apres ski). And the unit we stayed in was equally nice, cozier, and a better value. Montage is larger (so more walking). It has better toiletries and resort features (ie indoor pool/bowling/tubing/smores). So depends on what your are looking for...||||Overall, great stay. Would return and stay here again. As an aside -- next time, will rent skis from ski butlers or similar instead of deer valley resort -- as that would make the trip even more convenient. Would be curious how Black Diamond compares to Trail's End, which seems to have more reviews on...

We have always enjoyed our stay at Black Diamond unit 243. We come back yearly. Entire family, our 4 Children and their children and spouses .|Just a wonderful family time with plenty of room to enjoy being together. |We even considered Buying unit 243 !|Four days before our trip I made reservation for transportation.|This has been wonderful to get off plane and have drivers waiting!|This year, Mr. O’Reilly calls me and is very distressed asking if all 13 people were planning on staying at Black Diamond?||I was made to feel very UNWELCOME!||I have spent $28,000.00 for lodging and ski school to date.(more to come)|Now I was told 10 people limit!!!!|“We can’t have this! .....”|Shocked I reminded him we come every year ! |Now they count “pillows “ and there are only 10!|(Actually lovely accommodation with plenty of extra pillows and robes )|I ended up having to get another room!|Four days before we leave, card charged before we hang up..... around $4000.00|MORE!|He would “ALLOW “us to stay in our usual lovely accommodations first and last night of our stay because the other room was already booked! “But no more! New rules to protect property and comfort of other guests “||I was being made to feel horrible for bringing my entire family!|Ok|Today we should move 3 out of this lovely place and move them to this one bedroom in ANOTHER BUILDING!|No one wants to move!|I was encouraged to call his manager and am waiting for PERMISSION to have our family vacation here in our same 4 bedroom plus loft With bath......(technically 5 bedroom, 5 full baths plus a half bath....why is their a FULL bath in loft if no one can sleep in loft???||Bait and switch||I have shelled out more than we paid for our first home , and am miserable at being made to feel horrible for having a large close family! |I love the deer valley resort |I am looking at TRAILS END for future stays.|No one should have to be made to feel unwelcome AFTER collecting all monies.|Private equity bought this property!|It is not right to collect all monies,|Then 4 days before arrival make us feel horrible for staying SAME place we always have!|Please note MR. O’RIELLY found us a 2 bedroom with full kitchen for additional $1,700.00 x 7 nights!||Shocked I pointed out we DID NOT need or want that!|Well one bedroom in another building,|But it was booked first night of our stay and last night of our stay , so that “would help me out this time”|“We can’t have this again!!!”||If rules change AFTER our money was collected and room booked,|I feel NOTHING should have been thrown at me 4 days before arrival .||BEWARE |I spent money looking forward to our usual DREAM family vacation now here in room feeling horrible for bringing same family to same unit .|I am stressing because no one wants to move out |Can we stay altogether ? Still waiting to...

Bait and Switch Black diamond has always been our lovely family DREAM vacation . This year after all money collected ($28,000. ) with plenty more to come I was made to feel like a liar and a sneak! Note please we have been coming since 2011, as family grew we changed locations, The reservation staff becomes as family helping each year to be sure all are comfortable. Unit 243 black diamond is wonderful 4 bedrooms , 5 full baths and a half bath With a huge loft Game station and second dining table Ski in , ski out Well Private equity bought out our beautiful resort And according to Mr. 0 Reilly “We cannot have all these people in this unit!” This was pointed out 4 days before we leave I am made to feel like a liar and a sneaking 3 extra people in this unit, I was read the riot act at how people like me put unnecessary wear and tear on units Not fair to those paying guests I was shocked He came up with my needing to get an extra 2 bedroom full kitchen unit at 1700.00 a night Now flabbergasted I insisted we would not need nor use that His solution A hotel room That would accommodate 3 Now it was booked first night and last night of our 7 night stay,so we were allowed to keep family together first and last night of trip . Now this would ‘help me out this time’ with money. But “never again’ I have been miserable Spending first 2 days searching for another place as I am not welcome here anymore Thank God we did not buy unit 2 years ago ! Wow I was presented with 4 bed 4 bath that accommodates 14 Really. ??? Cramp us in a 4 bed 4 bath next year?? We are looking around I think Canada ! I enjoyed Banf! Maybe Canada will appreciate our family From now on Beware new rules
