Caution avalanche: Learned this restaurant was one of only 2 restaurants that carried A5 Japanese wagyu in Utah so booked for Valentine's day; I hadn't had the privilege of trying Japanese wagyu and wanted to learn more so went to the restaurant the day before my reservation. In speaking with staff, who were very helpful, they showed me the A5 Japanese wagyu certificate which stated the wagyu was from Kagoshima prefecture; for what wagyu goes by the ounce I wanted to learn as much as I could and the certificate is a nice touch. Kagoshima prefecture won the wagyu Olympics; didn't even realize wagyu had an Olympics. In going to the restaurant on Valentine's Day I got the immediate impression my wife and I were overdressed as others coming into the restaurant in some instances had literally pajamas as attire; eccentric I guess. Ordered a bottle of Argentina Malbec and with barely a glance at the menu knew to order the wagyu. We were informed they were sold out and had been all weekend; I became apoplectic internally about the matter and asked myself why no one informed me of this the day before when I stopped by and was shown the certificate? Dejected my wife and I ordered steak tartare and a ribeye to share, the side was mashed potatoes. In addition to the food flavor being banal the hostess elected to seat a family with crying children 2 tables away from us. After 10 minutes of that and the fact no A5 was available I almost asked to be moved to another table; fortuitously the family realized them had a crying baby and left the restaurant. Truly unfortunate experience, perhaps bad luck, doesn't help that RIME left a lasting mediocre first impression for a resort of it's supposed...
Read moreIt was an interesting meal. The drinks and food were good, but the service is not was you expect from a resort like the St. Regis. There was NO one to be found at the hostess stand. My husband waited about 15 minutes if not longer. The waitstaff wasn’t helpful either. The view was beautiful and the weather was gorgeous though, so we waited. We finally got a table from a group that felt bad bc they saw us waiting with our 4 year old for so long. It took about 20 minutes to get a kid’s fruit plate and 2 kid’s salads (we ordered adult salads, but oh well). The fruit plate was okay, but the kiwi tasted like onion and they left the fruit tags on. My trout was supposed to come with green beans and didn’t. I pointed that out and the waiter told me it wasn’t very many green beans anyway. I said I still wanted them and he forgot to get them. As he cleared my plate he said ‘oh, sorry, I just remembered your beans.’ We also asked for another set of silverware and never got it. The also had their nightly champagne saber and were supposed to have sparkling grape juice. I asked for a cup and they said ‘we are out, sorry.’ I told them that the front desk said they would have some and the girl kind of huffed and the guy was like ‘let me go look’ and found some. So again, food was great although some issues, but the service was...
Read moreAte here Monday June 21 for my wife’s birthday. At the beginning of the dinner the server said they were out of a number of items and they hadn’t received all of their fish order. Should have been my first clue. Don’t serve old seafood. Just say you’re out of the item.
Mussels appetizer tasted like they were a week old. Tuna dish was obviously held together with sauce and tasted old. Two orders scallops. Returned both. Under cooked and not fresh. My steak had obviously sat under the heat lamp forever cause the plate was hot the food was not - and the steak was over cooked by the heat lamp when I got it.
At the end of the meal the manager?... Came over - untucked shirt no name tag - do you even work here or are you some random walking through the restaurant - to see how the meal was. Didn’t even know what to say. Skipped dessert.
Lived in Park City for 20 years - eaten everywhere - and this was perhaps the most disappointing meal I’ve eaten in town.
Wouldn’t waste an evening here again. Ruth Chris or Prime on Main are far superior. Super disappointed. Server was kind so I gave two stars. Food alone didn’t deserve one.
Couldn’t believe I was at the St Regis at Deer Valley as this restaurant is apparently all show and...
