I was kind of stuck here for a month in the winter while working on a project that kept me really busy.
It's a hotel, and for the most part I know what to expect, but there are a few things I just don't think I should have to deal with as part of the purchase price, no matter how 'affordable' it is...
Good things first, it was pretty clean, as far as I am concerned. The Internet worked. I didn't freeze. I was not uncomfortable inside during a fairly bad winter. They do have pillows that are nice and the bed was comfortable, and the room was spacious.
So for a short stay I would recommend this place, but I'll tell you about the issues I encountered.
There was a minor problem with the shower, I just ignored it.
But my real issue was with the unprofessional behavior of some of the staff.
I do not think I should have been disturbed daily by hotel cleaning staff complaining about their jobs, loudly, often using profanity, which I could hear through a closed doorway contrary to the advertised 'soundproof rooms' -- while they were halfway down the hall.
While I personally do not care about foul language, I just find this sort of behavior improper for someone who is on the job. What bothered me the most was overhearing one of the cleaning staff proclaiming loudly about how sometimes she doesn't bother to change the sheets, she just remakes the bed sometimes, among other personal episodes I overheard -- while covering my ears -- about what seemed to be a violent life outside of work.
Another incident I recall, I had to receive packages here, and it was as if it was some giant inconvenience to the counter clerk. All this person really had to do was stand there push three buttons on the phone when UPS arrived, but I received a condescending statement or two about how it was oh so much of a hassle. Seriously?
There were a few other minor hassles. I had to renew weekly, which I've done in other hotels without problems. The manager seemed to act as if he owned me and could tell me what to do, there was a problem every week of the four with ensuring I would have the room.
Really, all of this was just a distraction to what should have been a calm, peaceful environment where I could do what I needed to without a soap opera.
I have stayed in a lot of hotels and while there is always something, this is a place I personally would not return to unless there were no other hotels.
The hotel I am in today, on another project elsewhere, is like a dream compared to this place. No staff to bother me. My packages arrived and they only wanted to make sure that I was the actual recipient. Everything was in order. I haven't heard a peep from the staff, and I simply do not feel uncomfortable the way I did during my stay in this Days Inn.
My advice to this hotel is to seriously work with your staff on their loudness and profanity and the overall attitude that they project to...
Read moreHORRIBLE service. I was told they had one room left. I told the front desk I would take the room. While I was getting checked in. The front desk guy told me he needed me to go to the room 221 and make sure the key would work. I thought this was strange so I asked why? And I was told “oh I just want to make sure the key will open” we have no more keys and this one is the MASTER KEY. I asked him well shouldn’t it open then? He replied yes it should open, I just opened it. But I just wanted to make sure you would be able to open it. I just told him okay, well I’ll just take the room if this key opens. He proceeded to check me in. I signed the paperwork and he took my card payment. When my family and I got to the room we noticed that the privacy hole on the door didn’t have the lense on it. It had been removed along with the non smoking sign. I right away told my husband I’m not staying here you can literally see the whole room through this hole . Ofcourse the key didnt open the door. So I went downstairs and told the front desk this key isn’t opening and there’s a whole in the door and you can see everything inside the room. The guy just said “oh im sorry that didn’t work out for you” I’ll just cancel your stay. I asked when would I be getting a refund and he told me “ I never charged your card” even though I clearly saw him swipe the card and I even signed the receipt stating how much was charged to my card. Like how creepy and unprofessional is this. Please don’t waste your time or money on this hotel. It’s also very dirty and has a horrible smell. Worst experience ever!!! Will NEVER stay here. And I hope this gets fixed. “ who hands the master key” to just anyone? Speaks so much about the concern they have for their...
Read moreI stayed there for 3 nights with my family. My mother and husband are disabled. One of the rooms was supposed to be handicapped accessible on the 1st floor and the other room was to be on the first floor also, I had talked to them the day before to confirm this. We got there and was told they only had 1 room on the first floor and it wasn’t accessible for a person who is handicapped. After raising my voice we finally got 2 rooms on the 1st floor. The room they put my mother in ( who is in a wheelchair) the door wouldn’t lock so I went to the front desk and they found another room. None of the rooms had blankets on the bed, in my room we pulled back the sheet only to find a red mask tucked in with the sheets. We had no ice bucket or cups. The toilet seats were so low that my disabled mother couldn’t use w so we had to buy a riser. That night someone tried 2 times to get into my moms room. So this is just night one of 3. The next day we left and came back and the key to one of the rooms wouldn’t work so again I had to talk to the front desk. We also wanted housekeeping to come change our bed and was told that they don’t clean rooms on the weekend that we would have to wait until Monday and was given a set of sheets to change our bed. The pictures on the site of the rooms is deceiving and do not look like what hell we stepped in to. I would have not stayed there but they were charging me for the...
