We arrived for a wedding on Sept 29, 2023. Our room was prepaid by the wedding family. The front desk rep asked for my credit card for $50 incidentals only. She clarified the room was already fully paid for by the family (who had booked multiple rooms for their wedding guests) and that my card would not be charged.
On Oct 2nd My credit card was charged for $856.25 USD for 3 nights. I called the hotel and the rep looked at the booking and said she could see the room was charged in full for 3 days but I she could not do anything about it and I would have to email the manager. The rep confirmed that the booking had the email of the wedding family and their address as well. I said is it possible the prepayment info got cancelled some how because the rep asked for and entered my Mariott Bonvoy rewards number to get free Internet access? She said she was not sure.
I was given manager Jin Hong's email and phone. I emailed Ms. Hong with the details and she never responded. I called during the day numerous times when Ms. Hong was at the property and she never picked up. So I left phone messages multiple times with my phone number and she did not respond.
The wedding family also called and emailed the manager but got no response. I felt this was very irresponsible for any professional organization to not have the courtesy to respond.
In November, I called Marriot Bonvoy Customer service and they wrote up a formal complaint. They asked me to email them all details of my bill and email and other communications with the property.
I emailed Bonvoy Customer Service the details of bill wrongful charges to my credit card and copies of my emails and screen shots of my phone calls. Bonvoy customer service sent all that info to the hotel.
Next day, I got a call from Jin Hong saying she never received any emails or phone messages. I thought, "is this lady for real?" She said the room was never paid for before by the wedding party family. I mentioned that the wedding family's credit card statement has clear records of charges for the room.
And then to my surprise she made up a story that she had asked the front desk rep from Sept 29th and she remembers talking to me and telling me that the room was not paid for. I thought "wow!"
I asked Ms. Hong if the rep remembers what I looked like, and Ms. Hong fired back that it would not be possible to remember what you looked like because they have hundreds of guests who visit the property.
So, the rep remembers a conversation with a guest from a month ago but has no clue what he or she looked like, especially when they have distinct attire and look like me?
I gave Ms. Hong the wedding family's phone number and she said she would call them and if they paid for the room she would refund my money back.
She called them that night and told them that she would refund charges to my credit card if they paid for the room even after they said they had already paid for the room as per their credit card charges. After this conversation they emailed Ms. Hong (with a cc to me) for her supervisor's contact information, she replied them saying she would provide that info only after they provided payment for my room.
She never refunded my credit card.
So overall, it's been a once-in-a-life time nightmare experience with this hotel’s management. I will call it Daylight robbery for being charged for the same room on two credit cards after their numerous errors were detailed. No professional accountability or ability to trace back the billing error has been shown by the management. Lies and deceit have been made up by the property Manager after being non-responsive to emails and phone messages left on her voice mail. There seems to be no one at the hotel above her to keep her accountable or to respond to client concerns. The front desk with only provide her email and phone when called.
I do not recommend anyone stay at this hotel. If you do, please get a printout of charges before you leave the hotel and ensure you have not been...
Read moreAfter reading numerous reviews I booked a room for a "stay-cation" for my adult daughters and I. We wanted a day to relax by the pool and since this hotel had an indoor and outdoor option we knew we were covered in case it rains. In full disclosure, my family was in the hospitality business for 25 years so I want to be specific in my review. I'm going to start with the positives. The castle-like exterior is impressive and there were some beautiful flowering plants outside. I thought the lobby was lovely, the restaurant/bar area was nice with a rustic feel ( booths with Edison lights, barn doors) and the front desk staff were professional, cordial and efficient. I think the intended purpose of this hotel was to service the office buildings it is surrounded by however, this is no longer the case. This is a VERY BUSY hotel. There were two weddings, a reunion, and they just ran a Groupon special so the hotel was at full capacity. Had I know this I never would have booked a room. We arrived early so we could enjoy the amenities, I wanted to sit by the pool and my daughters wanted to work out so we headed towards the area and found to get to the pools, you have to walk through the gym which made the carpet in the gym soaking wet. You then walk through the indoor pool area which had so much chlorine it made your eyes burn as soon as you walk in, it was noisy and loaded with children and teenagers so the indoor pool was not an option. The photo of the outdoor pool is very deceiving. The view from the lounge chairs faces a brick wall giving it a prison feel. There was only one lounge chair left, it was broken and parked under a large vent. This pool seemed to have one adult for every five children - it packed with kids. One big plus - they had a life guard. My daughters went to the gym and I went to the lobby to wait for the room to be ready but there was no place to sit because a family of six chose to eat their brought lunch at the only sitting area in the lobby so I went to the bar. I ordered a glass of wine ( $14.00 ) and I had brought a Propel. I had to got to my car to get a few things then to the restroom and when I got back my wine and Propel were gone. The bartender didn't think I was coming back. I didn't look at a menu but all the food being served was bar food, pizza, etc. Hallways are drab and the carpet was stained and worn. Our room, which could use an update, had visible stains on the bedding and a large white stain on the only chair in the room. I wiped it with a chlorine wipe ( it came off) and thew a towel on the chair. This hotel is FILTHY which is something that is easily fixed and the reason I gave it a one star rating. Finally, at around 10:00, there was a full-blown tail gate party in the back of a pick up truck in the parking lot with about 20 people playing music and games. I mentioned it to the front desk as this is a real liability for a hotel and disrespectful to other guests. I really wanted to like this place but it's a wedding factory and place for the locals to bring their kids and...
Read moreMy first exception was a smell when I got in room, do not know what it was, also could not regulate the heat / AC, so, I called down, and was not offered a replacement room. When I mentioned the AC problem at desk, they said a maintenance person can come up later in the day, but no one can be in room, (so are we to leave our belongings and valuables in the hotel room, with some stranger), where were we to be with all of our gear, take it back down to the car? So, then we had been given a ticket saying breakfast included. We got downstairs to restaurant, and was told the breakfast was not included in price of room. We are African American, Black, and Muslim. [Not normally a topic of discussion] And this hostess was white, I do not know why she did not like us. So we were hungry, wanted to know how much for breakfast, was told by the hostess, it is $20 per person, And not included So, we wanted to see first what would cost 20 for breakfast, We had to first get allowed in , She had to take our info, would not let us go see what was on the buffet, without us giving info, as if we were going to actually eat. then we went over to breakfast counter, and saw only Yogurt, raw fruit, and bread, and my wife was like , heck no, $20 for this, So we went back to the hostess, and was asking is this it for $20, After paying so much for a room, we would think that it would be a representative experience relative to the 160 room price! Most hotels that we go to, with prices over 100, the breakfast is included! When we approached the hostess, We asked if this is it for 20, The woman started raising her voice, and saying that we can leave etc.. We were trying to understand why she was acting aggresive, So, I defended my spouse, and asked the woman why are you being so aggressive, Because I stood up for my spouse, This woman said we had to leave! Thankfully there was another hostess , who arrived, and my wife simply asked is there more for 20, The new hostess said there is more, and showed us where the Eggs, sausage, and warm food was, And that is all that we had asked for. BTW, That first hostess, the white woman, had actually called security, and I guess she told them we were not conforming to her policies, whatever, But they never came over to us, thankfully! I think the second hostess intervened, And for this (breakfast was not all of that), But at least there was pinapple slices my favorite, I got some eggs potatoes, turkey bacon, And I was good, I even left a tip, for the hostess that came to our rescue, I am a Vet, and I have discounts usually from my employer T-Mobile, the VA etc.. But I dont believe I was able to use those discounts this time, so we paid cash, and stayed 4 days 3 nights. So, I like the location of the hotel, we have an annual seminar there, and this was the first time we had been treated like second class citizens! This I did...
