A ‘Peachy’ Slice of Paradise in Paso Robles
From the moment we began searching for the perfect weekend getaway in Paso Robles, we knew we wanted something truly special. As parents, finding time for a peaceful escape is rare, and thanks to my generous parents offering to watch the kids, we were determined to make the most of it. After scouring countless hotel listings, we stumbled upon Kindred Oak Farm, and it turned out to be everything we hoped for and more.
Nestled amidst the serene beauty of Paso Robles, Kindred Oak Farm offers the perfect blend of peace, quiet, and nature, with the added bonus of being conveniently close to town and the nearby wineries. The owners, Lisa and Rob Peach, have created a haven of hospitality that feels like a home away from home.
We stayed in one of the newer rooms, The Oaks, located on the top floor just outside the living room and dining area. Despite its central location, the room was blissfully quiet and serene. The room itself was a masterpiece of thoughtful design, exuding style and warmth. From the artisanal local bath soaps and high-end fixtures to the welcoming bottle of Barton wine, every detail was perfect. The spacious balcony offered a stunning view, and the bed was so heavenly that getting up in the morning felt like a challenge—until we remembered the promise of Chef Candice’s multi-course gourmet breakfast.
Speaking of breakfast—wow! If you consider yourself a coffee snob, you’ll be in heaven here. Lisa’s French press, made with freshly ground local coffee beans, set the tone for an extraordinary start to the day. The breakfast spread included two exotic fresh juices and a Spanish tortilla that rivaled anything we’ve had in Spain. I wish I could go on, but just thinking about it brings me back to a state of food euphoria.
One of the main reasons we love staying at B&Bs is the communal atmosphere, and Kindred Oak Farm excelled in this area. Lisa and Rob have fostered a place of openness and inclusivity, where guests are encouraged to connect and learn about the land. Rob’s morning tour of the property, including a visit to their resident Longhorns, was an unforgettable experience. The other couples staying that weekend were a joy to hang out with, adding to the vibrant and friendly atmosphere.
Hearing Lisa and Rob share their stories about supporting each other and their kids was heartwarming, and their adorable puppies added to the charm of the place. It’s clear that Kindred Oak Farm is built on love and community, making it a place where lasting memories are made.
We left Kindred Oak Farm with full hearts and a strong desire to return. If you’re looking for a magical and 5-star retreat in Paso Robles, we highly recommend Kindred Oak Farm. It’s a place where peace, beauty, and genuine hospitality come together to create an...
Read more5-star in every way. This place is a dream. From the moment you enter the chic rustic gate from the vineyard lined road, you will feel that feeling we all crave. Quiet. Only the two Pyrenes white fluffy dogs running thru the grass. Or the goats and chickens roaming freely in their space. Maybe the sounds of the crackle under foot as you walk up the beautiful rock path to the front door. Hosts Lisa and Rob welcome you as their new friends. Each bedroom is different and all are incredibly well curated with farmhouse French comfort. Every possible thing you could want - all of the small touches - are there. Beautiful linens and extra comfy beds. Viewing areas to look out onto the endless acres of green. Oversized bathrooms and showers with silky locally made bath products and luxurious robes. Fresh nuts in a mason jar. Local coffee and tea. Perfectly chilled water in the mini-fridge. A welcome bottle of local wine, of course. Breakfast beckons you from your slumber as you smell the utter magic of the chefs, like Chef Dominique who took care of us. This is Michelin level unicorn tastiness. We sat outside on the large porch with comfy blankets taking in the morning chirping of all of the birds. Fresh juices each morning along with every other detail you would want. Everything sourced from their garden or animals or locally down the road. A tour through the property took us past the incredible space for events with a huge bowl-like amphitheater with hanging golden lights, original wood structure with country bar and pool table, romantic camper and campsite, and picturesque walking bridge - and out into the fields where we fed Scottish Highland cattle hay from the barn. What unique beautiful creatures. The location was perfect, just minutes from all of the local wine cellar tours and tastings yet remote enough to be serene. Lisa had recommendations and connections for anything we needed. The local ebikes company VineCycle delivered bikes to our door where we took off on an all-day adventure from the farm riding through the hills past vineyard after vineyard. The highlight was massages outside on our private deck, followed by a private dinner with Chef Dominique where we hand picked our veggies from the farm garden, then enjoyed a candlelit dinner with fresh flowers from the garden adorning our table and wine pairings from a local vineyard. Sitting by the roaring firepit under the stars and half moon topped off our stay. We bought many of the products found in our room upon our departure and are already planning a return. Just bliss...until...
Read moreWe stayed at Kindred Oak Farm mid-August as we went to Paso Robles to go wine tasting. We tend to rent houses when we travel, but we really wanted to relax and be a bit spoiled. What we discovered was that this is more than just a place to stay to find peace and re-center. We are introverts, but we found Lisa and Rob so incredibly warm, thoughtful, and easygoing that we instantly felt like family guests. Lisa was often in the kitchen making fresh juices (the beet carrot mint was our favorite!) and prepping the next day's breakfast.
Lisa's three course breakfasts on the balcony overlooking the oak-filled farm reminded me so much of Farm Spirit in Portland (a favorite of ours, Michelin starred) starting with two jars of amazing juices and beautifully balanced fresh coffee. The next two courses were fresh from the farm, delicious, perfectly seasoned, and stunningly presented. Both of us felt they were among the best breakfasts we've had.
We ended up walking the massive property, which is nestled on a hillside, because everywhere we went was a discovery. We strolled by the goat pen and they ran over with excitement for some scratches. We went to the farm's kitchen garden and walked along the wisteria-laden pergola among squash, tomatoes, herbs, and more. There was even a nice big pumpkin (we so wished we could have tried what Lisa would have done with it!). We followed the paths to the large wooden building that had the game room, enjoying the cool shade of the oaks.
And our room - Adelaida - was phenomenal. It is furnished with natural soothing colors, with lots of wood and linen. The bathroom is expansive, with a deep two-person bath (the bath salts and bubble bath lured us in) and a wonderful walk in multiple head shower. It is a luxurious room that you will not find in a rental, quiet and spacious with lots of comfortable seating inside and on the balcony. We loved sitting out on the balcony with some glasses of wine, enjoying the quiet and the breeze and the gorgeous sunsets.
Kindred Oak Farm is amazing from start to finish, and we left it feeling...
