On the positive side, the park is clean. Lake Michigan's shoreline runs the length of the park, 200 steps from our campsite. The beach is large and beautiful, great for watching the sunsets. There is a dog friendly portion of beach, as well. The restrooms and showers were very nice. The paved bike path to Charlevoix runs through the campground. There is an eroded portion that is rerouted. There are plenty of hiking paths. Petoskey and the marina are within walking distance. On the huge downside is the odiferous sewage treatment plant at the south end of the park. It has hot and humid, so the sickening smell was ever-presesnt. We were at the opposite end of the campground. We spent extra time away from the campground to avoid the smell. Despite the positives, I cannot imagine coming back because of the sewer smell. I think it's deceptive that the campground doesn't warn about this.

Great price... And beautiful views. Full hookup for $32 a night. Other reviewers have complained about how small the sites are, I'm not one of them. Normally I camp at state parks, so it reminds me of that. The campgrounds are not the fanciest. But the view of the lake is awesome. I'm staying up closer to the check in station. Internet is very strong here. Unfortunately I'm not getting any tv stations. You can hear the airconditions from the hospital. It's way better than listening to roadway traffic. Depending on what direction the wind is coming, will effect the smell from the waste treatment plant. I wouldn't want to be camped to close to it when the wind is coming out of the west. Definitely will be back next year.

This place is outstanding for the views alone. If you are visiting the area, a must. If you are able to get a spot to stay, even better. Friendly staff, nice bathrooms and showers, playground, paved bike/walking trail, great wi-fi and a great rocky beach to get your rock hounding on. The best though are the sunsets which are breathtaking. Talk about picturesque. This is the place to be in Petoskey especially if you're in an RV. Highly recommend staying here as long as you can. Spot 31 & 13 were where I stayed. Electric and Water only but they have a very accessible dump station that I used effortlessly. Oh there is even a cabin you can rent if you happen not to own an RV. Spots fill quickly so plan ahead.

I'd like to think it's normally great. I've only been here 30 minutes... The negative check list hasn't stopped 12 hours later. The campsite I booked, 2 weeks ago, for memorial day weekend along with the 6 other comparable sites were completely under construction so they had to find me a different site. Luckily for me it still had the lake view. We pulled in early so we could nap before starting our day and that's not going to happen with all the construction noise. Did the website mention this, NO! I brought my dogs and gave them baths before, thanks to the construction I now have to rebath them before I can let them in the camper. The entire campground is a mud pit at the moment. And then to ROYALLY TOP THE WEEKEND OFF, I bought $25 worth of pre treated campfire wood and the campsite they HAD to move me to does NOT ALLOW CAMP FIRES!!!?!?! What the actual fuq!?! Did the website say that, NO!!!!! There are no other open campgrounds on lake Michigan within 50 miles (which is $30+ in gas), to say I'm aggravated is an understatement. I will say the woman working the office was the best at trying to solve my issues but there has been no happy resolute. The "beach" is All rocks, does the website say that, NO! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS CAMPGROUND FOR ANY REASONS. Normally I would demand a refund and go elsewhere but it's Memorial day weekend, everything in Northern Michigans LP is BOOKED. That's why I booked it weeks ago!

It's now 12 hours later and sunset, which was great, luckily I brought tennis shoes, the rocks are painful in sandals. The noise level of the hospital directly behind us is absolutely ridiculous, it sounds like a wind tunnel at the North end of the campground. Took the dogs for a walk around the park and discovered a hellaciously bad smell at the south end of this campground -_- seriously?! Yes, there is a waste treatment center constantly burning the smelliest of gases. My wife and I are absolutely perplexed on why someone(s) thought this would be a great location for "enjoying" the outdoors so much that they put a campground here.? At this point we're attempting to find a different campground for the remainder of the holiday weekend after we get a refund. This...

We were in the front row. I picked that site so we could lookout on the water which was beautiful. We ran into so many unexpected issues with this park however. It didn’t take us long after getting set up to see we had no fire pit. How do you camp without a fire pit? We brought it to the staffs attention and they were nice enough to go and get a portable one for us to use. When you look on the website it says fire pits what it should say is some sites have fire pits since the whole front row is without them. Next when we went to plug in we were faced with only 50 or 20 amp service. Again no mention on the website that if you are not set up that way you will need an adapter. Luckily Meijer had one so we eventually were set. Then as we were sitting there enjoying the beautiful weekend we kept seeing tanker trucks continuously driving up and down the road and the nice fresh air had a distinct smell of sewage. Sure enough right down the road is a sewage plant and they spent the whole weekend hauling sewage out stirring up the smell it was much worse at night when the air was still. We couldn’t open windows in our 5th wheel because you constantly smelled poo. Then lastly if you are looking to be on the water where you can relax on a beach you’re in the wrong spot. There isn’t a beach only rocks not small pebbles, rocks. All in all we were determined to have a good time and we did but it definitely wasn’t because of...

The Park itself is nice, but the service is terrible. I lost my wallet at the park and someone was kind enough to turn it in for me every time I would call or leave a message no one would respond. When I was actually able to speak to someone to see if they could send it to me because I live for hours away, he said it was "out of his area of expertise." Ann that he would have to ask his manager, but then no one got back to me. So my boyfriend drove four hours to go get it and no one was there. He called multiple times and no one answered. He called the city and they sent over a retired ranger to help him get into the office to find out and it wasn't there. Th hey had to call two other gamers to figure out where it was. Turns out one of the tanners gave it to the police and didn't tell anyone. When he got to the police station, they had already sent it to me. Glad to know my wallet will be here soon, but I hate that they lack the communication skills to tell me that before sending my boyfriend on a wild goose chase and an 8...
