Roast & Toast McLaren — Restaurant in Petoskey

Yelp listed the staff wears masks (nope) and masks required (nope) which neither bothered me but just so you know.

Also I wish I had known the procedure before paying and leaving a nice tip....you order at the counter, you get your own coffee (unless it's a specialty coffee), you pick up your order and you're asked to bring your dirty dishes to the cart...so what exactly are you doing besides cooking my meal? Not a big deal and maybe locals get that but I was caught a bit off guard on it. But to be honest I just now (several hours after our visit) read the complete amenities section and it does say no wait service so I should have known but now I'm telling you all 😁

Food was good. Hubby asked for his wrap to be put in bowl, which they suggested they could do, but it came in a wrap. When we refilled our coffee a couple of the pots were empty so we had to settle for what was there at the time. My French toast was pretty good, not as good as I've had at other places but still good.

Prices are average and parking could get crazy during busy times as it's street parking.

Would I go here again? Sure, now that I know the ropes but I'd probably try another place in town instead (that's me, I like to try different places...

It can't be the Great Taste or Fast service, or Always Friendly People always working there. Or that when I have to Go to the One of so many Doctors visits. It makes my day. Because there is a lot of different Doctors you have to see with MS,, that this disease starts to cut off your body from working, Your, legs, bladder, lungs, parts in your brain. So much more,,,,,,, So that, You Reading This really don't care for more It is,, Just A Great Place to Stop and Get That Filling Diner !! Or just grab it and Go,, that to will fill,,,,You Up So FasssssssT after Some place (for another test) put you on a No Eating For 24hours,,,, this place Really Will Fill You Up just for you to do the Asking !!!! I will Again see you,, in April {2022} NO,, fooling another test so they say again no eating for 24 hours again. ........: So Don't Get Behind my van in a drive in, my order alone will be for two or three ... yep only me,,, this coming April !!! We came on a Monday for breakfast. It ended up being a good option. This isn't a sit down restaurant and other than the cooking/drink preparing you do everything else - order at counter, pick up food when ready and put your dirty dishes away. Just something to know and expect when coming!

Our party of five enjoyed the food - breakfast sandwich, bagel with cream cheese, chicken bacon ranch wrap.

I do think there is an opportunity to improve service a bit... maybe explain things more to new patrons, be more approachable, etc.

The space itself is cute and...
