Called this place to get a tattoo because it seems to be the only one around Petoskey that looks decent. I was told that I needed to make a deposit. That’s it. I gave them my info and they set me up for last week at 5. I informed them that my work schedule is very busy and erratic. They said no problem call a couple hours beforehand and let us know if you can make it. I did exactly that, they couldn’t accommodate me coming at 5:30 instead of 5 because their artist had an appointment at 6:30. Mind you the tattoo I am getting is about the size of a thumb. Fast forward, I call them today to see if they have availability as it is my last day in town. They of course do not, so I say no problem. What did you charge me for a deposit? Let’s get the refund going if you charged me. The girl apologizes and says, I remember you, i should have told you it’s non refundable, I just assumed you knew. Mind you, this is my first time ever in Petoskey. I don’t know your shop rules. Even still, they won’t refund for their own negligence. It’s not about the money, it’s the principle. But if they need to keep 50$ from someone who’s literally never been to their shop before and spoke with them twice via phone, then keep it while it’s still in your account. Went for piercings for two of my children - one for lobos and one for their helix. We could not have been happier with our experience. When scheduling they were really clear about what would be needed for minors so we were prepared. My youngest has been so excited to get her ears pierced for months but got scared when the time came, and everyone who worked there was so kind and supportive to her, it was touching. Marissa was incredibly patient and helpful with strategies to feel calm, never pressuring to hurry or come back another time. She was meticulous about the placement, making sure she thought it looked good and the girls did, too. She measured to be sure they were the same on each side. When my daughter touched her ear a couple times while trying to get up her nerve, Marissa was paying close attention and re-sanitizing the ear each time, which even I didn’t think of so I was particularly grateful she was so attentive. I’ve had my nose pierced for years, lost my nose ring the other day and decided to go into a shop to buy jewelry thinking it was my best options to find real metal. I paid 15$ which isn’t a bad price and maybe I should’ve seen it coming but again for my nose to be pierced for years then suddenly get infected after using there jewelry is crazy to me. I have also had a few friends get tattoos from here and they also became infected. Not sure I trust this place for future piercing/tattoos. It’s really sad as a shop they should be buying quality items. With that being said when I went into the piercers section of the shop I was greeted with plenty of ‘SHEIN’ bags which tells me plenty about where they get there supplies.
