THE GOOD Location! Service! Accommodations! We had a security concern which was brought to the site’s attention as soon as we discovered it and they were quick to respond and resolve. Sitting just outside of Chinatown, there are many safe areas to walk, find food and enjoy the city. On the ground floor sits The Institute Bar/Grill which had delicious meals, albeit small portions but nonetheless, super yummy. Pet friendly and indeed they are! Never had one concern or complaint during our 4night stay. At SoSuite, you don’t get a room; you get a spacious condo with high ceilings, beautiful multi-pane windows and even the unit’s own laundry machines. Kitchen had it all! Coffee machine, dishwasher, cabinets. Quite clean upon arrival too!! Need a late night snack or drink, they have vending machines on the ground floor with plenty to choose from. The building and parking lot are secured and code-enabled too. THE BAD A unit may accommodate more than 2 couples but the lot is limited to one vehicle per reservation; a better option may be to offer an additional space for a nominal fee. I had to find street parking for my jeep and some surrounding streets enforce a 2 hour parking limit between 8am-10pm(I think it was 10). Finding a spot wasn’t too difficult but I can imagine the problem it would present for a family with children or the elderly. If your stay requires you to bring a large amount of bags/belongings, you won’t know that SoSuite offers carts and trolleys for transport unless you parked in (or had access to) the parking lot. Even if you did, those carts were sparse; we got lucky each time but there were nights/morning where none could be found. I only found out because I inquired via a chat line. THE UGLY The walls have been through alot; it’s evident by the scuffs, dirt and patching. There were, what I assume would have been art hanging on the walls but they were missing/removed: all that was left were the nails that once held them up. Aesthetically unpleasing but nothing that would have made our experience less pleasant. I can handle a handprint on the wall as long as the generals areas were clean, and they were. WOULD WE DO IT AGAIN? Absolutely!!!!!

Very curious why it's not showing any bad reviews? We had an aweful experience. We booked a 2 bed unit, room 406, and arrived and first noticed one of the beds was unchanged. Pet hair all over. We moved on since we could get away with using just one bed. We arrived late and just needed to get our child to sleep. As we were walking around noticed how unclean the place actually was. Dirt in all the trim, filthy cabinets, marks and holes in the walls, balcony was disgusting, my feet were black if I took my shoes off inside. But then...the cockroaches came out! Infested in the kitchen! Big and small I immediately messaged them, since this place is a completely online situation, no front desk, no one to bring up, nothing. They didn't even offer us a different room! We were stuck since these are prepay. Prisoners to 1 bedroom. We were completely unable to use the kitchen since it was infested and we really didn't feel like bringing roaches home. And couldn't use 1 bedroom. It's been 2 weeks. I have been back and forth messaging Sosuites since. And they finally agreed to refund me $30! This is outrageous! They won't even refund me the "cleaning fee" which was over $50. This room cost us over $430 for 2 nights plus $50 for parking. Definitely never consider staying here unless you like filthy accommodations and to bring some extra travelers back home with you. Here are some pics that I also sent them about the issue

I stayed 6 nights and found this a great home away from home. The location was perfect as my daughter lives across the street! I could walk to the city through Chinatown, and being in an urban neighbourhood it meant that Ubers were never far away. The room was a good size, the bed was comfy, the views were fantastic. It was nice to have many lighting options for a cosy ambiance. And an extra bed in a really clever pullout couch. It was also wonderful to have a washer and dryer in the unit and there was ample storage space to unpack my suitcase. The kitchen had enough amenities for me to prepare simple meals. A toaster would have made a great addition to the microwave and induction stove. All in all there was everything in the room to make my stay comfortable. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Downstairs there was a terrific bar and restaurant with an extensive menu (and local clientele, not just tourists) that made it enticing as a place to enjoy a drink. I am already thinking about my return visit.

I stayed here for almost two weeks and was tempted to give two stars because the apartment was clean when I arrived and the staff is very friendly and try to be helpful. So there's that. But I just can't give more than one star because of the laundry list of other reasons to NEVER book a stay here.

First off the "24/7 on site security" advertised on the Sosuite website is an absolute joke. The back gate to the parking lot was left wide open about half the time during my stay, and the door from the parking lot into the building is often left open and even if it's closed it's NEVER locked. Literally anyone can walk in off the street and no one would stop them. The only "security" personnel is the one front desk person on duty at a time who's not always at the front desk.

Second, there is NO enforcement of property rules. The people in the unit next to me had a very loud party one night that went until close to midnight, and the following night had an even louder drunken argument from 3 to 4 am. After the argument finally died down they played loud music until sunrise. Calling Sosuite resulted in ZERO action being taken.

Third, the units are NOT equipped as advertised. Their website says all units feature a "fully equipped kitchen". My studio had a tiny dorm fridge, a microwave, and a hot plate. This is NOT a fully equipped kitchen, and on the Sosuite website the ads for units without actual full kitchens conveniently do not have any pictures of the kitchens.

The white noise machine that the website says is in every room was nowhere to be found, not that it could have overcome the level of noise coming from the neighboring units anyway. There was a sign on the wall of my unit warning of noise monitoring equipment that will alert Sosuite of excessive noise during quiet hours which apparently doesn't do much either.

While Sosuite doesn't advertise it on their own site, the Independence Lofts website and a sign right outside the door to the property promise other amenities that aren't actually available, like an on-site pet park that doesn't even exist.

Finally, as other reviewers mentioned, one of the elevators was broken. Over the course of my 12-night stay I didn't see anyone even attempt to fix it, and by the dates on the other reviews it's been well over a month that it's been out of service. The building appears to be mostly if not entirely occupied by AirBNB guests and on several occasions when it was busy with check-ins and check-outs the wait for an elevator could be as long as ten minutes. This was annoying and frustrating, but compared to the other issues with this place, if you stay here it will be the least of your worries.

These are just the biggest issues; there was a littany of other, more minor annoyances that further contributed to making my stay here unpleasant at best. Suffice to say I will not be back and wouldn't recommend staying...
