I've now been here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Spring Garden Pizza is like stepping back in time. The owner truly cares about his restaurant, his employees, and his customers. He's one of the nicest men I've ever met in my life. This is a family owned restaurant that takes care of its customers. Everything is extremely reasonably priced. They aren't gouging their customers.
Maybe unexpectedly but the breakfast is the real star here for me. You might ask yourself why would I get breakfast at a pizza place? And the only answer I have for that is, you just have to try it. They aren't trying to do too much. I'm a firm believer that breakfast should err on the side of simplicity and Spring Garden is of the same mindset. It may not be as Instagramable as some of the "fancier" breakfast places in the area or throughout the city, but you'll be too busy eating it to care about taking a picture. I would put my money on Spring Garden's breakfast over nearly any other in the city. Let your camera eat second at...
Read moreMy first time eating here was this past Friday. The place is small but quaint. This is a family owned restaurant. My server was a sweet old lady who took me and my friends' order fairly quickly once we knew what we wanted. We waited awhile; enough to notice but once we received our food it was worth it! I had breakfast: pancakes with a side of turkey bacon and scrambled eggs. It was De-LICIOUS!! My pancakes were just the way i liked them with crunchy edges: yum! I ordered my eggs scrambled with cheese and onions: perfect! (they mix the cheese in the egg mix before cooking unlike some cooks that just lay the cheese on done eggs. Hate that) and the turkey bacon was cooked just right: mmm-mmm good! I was stuffed and was mad that I left as little food I did on my plate. The bill was pretty cheap for what we got too. I can't wait to go back here and try the other things on the menu. And if you care, they do not sell...
Read moreI've lived a block away from this place for over a decade. Recently this restaurant has come under new ownership.
One of the changes was to their Italian Hoagie. Once one of the best sandwiches in the city, the new version is a shadow of the former sandwich.
Previously the Italian Hoagie from Spring Garden Pizza featured all the regular cuts of Italian meat you would typically find on a hoagie and there was a lot of it. Conversely now they use cheap deli meat and you get 1 slice throughout the sandwich. Keep in mind the sandwich is now almost $14.
This is not a $14 sandwich. It is a travesty what they've done to this once amazing hoagie.
I also want to note myself and my neighbors have spoken to the restaurant several times about this and the restaurant does not seem to want to do the right thing and fix it so...
