Well it started out with a phone call. I asked if they had a jacuzzi room and was told that they didn’t. So when I got there I had to check in at the night window because the lobby, pool, and gym are closed for covid. I ask for a king bed for one night. She asked smoking or non. I said non. While I’m waiting I see a sign that says non smoking and jacuzzi rooms available? Then I’m told that the non smoking rooms are reserved. So I say that a smoking room will do. I’m asked if I’m paying with cash or card. I say card. Then I’m asked if my card and license match names. I say yes. Takes awhile but finally sign the paper and get my keycard. Now this is 5pm and there are 2 cars in the whole parking lot. The Econo lodge beside it has a packed parking lot. So I get in the room it’s older and has carpet which in a motel means nasty. Small tv where the non existing microwave used to be above the mini fridge. And food left in the mini fridge. Old furniture. Cigarettes burns on the couch, bed, and tub. Various hairs on the bed and on the wall in the shower. $103 for a room that should be $50 max. So at around 9pm there are 5 cars total in the parking lot and I decide to walk to the drink machine. As I’m doing this there and back I notice that only 2 other rooms besides mine are occupied and under further investigation there are 38 non smoking rooms and 12 smoking. So I guess the other ghosts got a non smoking room since I couldn’t. There’s something weird about the motel beside you being packed but this is is a ghost town. Anyway It was my first and last stay there. Could also feel the springs in the mattress. If you come to picayune stay at holiday inn or heritage inn. You won’t get harassed with questions checking in and you’ll have...
Read morePros: -On the main street running through town. -IHOP is within walking distance. -The water gets hot. -The shower/sink pressure is excellent. -The room was clean. -The area seems nice enough to not have to worry about parking a vehicle outside. -Free High Speed Wifi.
Cons: -The breakfast options do not include any meat. It consisted of toast, instant oatmeal, and waffles -- definitely not a continental breakfast. -The A/C's ability to circulate the cold air is poor which means that even at 60, the mornings are warm. -The blackout drapes are not installed correctly meaning that light will come through around the edges, lighting up the room. -The toilet handle needs to be held down for a couple of seconds for the water to flush. -The iron was rusted, damaging my shirt when I tried to iron it. -The hangers are the types that are not able to be used off the rack (the tops of the hangers are not hooks, only nodules that hang once inserted into the rack). The clips attached to the hangers are rusted which prevented me from hanging up my pants. -When closing the bathroom door, the shower curtain will sometimes get in the way making it difficult to close the door. -The dresser has some water damage and looks to be rotted away. -The walls are thin and allow for you to hear sneezes, typical conversational speech, and the TVs, when your room is quiet, from the immediate neighbors.
Other notes about the room: -Toilet paper is incredibly thin. -TV is not centered with the bed and is screwed onto the shelving unit that houses the microwave & mini-fridge. -Orange lighting. -Bed...
Read moreWe booked the room online and rolled in at almost midnight. Check-in was ok. The desk clerk did not, however, give us any direction of where our room was, so we had to pull up to the outside of the building in several places and shine the headlights to read the numbers. Sorry neighbors if we highlighted your room. The room was ok at first sight. Didn't see any bugs. Only the usual amount filth around the edges of furniture, which I have found in even the finest of hotels. Sheets clean. Bathroom ok clean. However, the light in the shower/ toilet area didn't work, so we showered in the dark. Also, the tub dripped all night and the highway noise was obvious, so we slept with the fan on. The refrigerator, though nice to have, was sticky inside with what looked like melted ice cream. We covered it with a plastic bag before putting our drinks in there. In the morning, we went to the front lobby to check out at about 7:30. The area was not open and there was no breakfast item as advertised. I wasn't expecting much for breakfast, but I was expecting something. Not even any coffee! In fact, the door to the lobby area was still locked. There was a lady in front of us at the window trying to receive a receipt who had apparently awakened the desk clerk. 😳 He was half asleep. We asked about breakfast. All he said was that they hadn't gotten milk?! So....? We went to the nearby McDonald's, that had an awesome...
