Living in Northern Virginia, I am used to phenomenal Thai food. Coming home to NJ, I have been on the hunt for Thai food that is of similar quality and unfortunately this was not it. I ordered drunken noodles with chicken and spring rolls. Prices were higher than Northern Virginia (Fairfax County and Arlington).
The spring rolls were a generous portion and a good value at $7. I would give these a solid 4.5 stars.
The drunken noodles, on the other hand, were not very good. For starters, it included numerous vegetables that were not in the description. IMHO, less is more with drunken noodles (and what is advertised on the menu: onion, bell pepper, basil leaves is all that is needed). This was a disappointment before I even took a bite. Once I did take a bite, I realized there was 0 flavor or spice. They clearly forgot the fresh chili in my dish. Chicken portion was very good though. That was 5 stars. Overall rating for the dish is a solid 2/5 given the inaccurate menu description and lack of flavor. The generous helping of chicken is what gave the dish...

I had the Thai pineapple rice with an order of dumplings. My wife had the pad Thai with shrimp 🍤 and chicken 🍗. She ordered their som tum papaya salad which I had to taste and it was out of this 🌎! My kids enjoyed stir fried veggies. I ordered the shrimp 🍤 in dumpling wrapping which were crispy and golden brown delicious! The Thai ice teas hit the spot and coconut water was the bomb! The mango slices with coconut milk sauce was so tasty for dessert. My kids and wife enjoyed their coconut ice cream 🍦 to end the perfect dinner night out! Well worth the trip and they cater to kids like family. Its nice to find a fancy restaurant that doesn't mind children! I noticed another couple with two children as well. Great news....
Read moreNot sure this Thai food at all. Thai basil chicken (Pad Kaprow Gai), see photo with more orange color. It is basically minced chicken, garlic, chillies, a load of Thai holy basil, in a tasty sauce. What I received did have chicken, but large pieces, carrots, green beans, bamboo shoots, with no basil or sauce. And $21 to boot. Give this place a miss.
I know that I am just a farang, but having lived in Thailand for 10 years, I have eaten Pad Kaprow Gai hundreds of times. It was always minced chicken with none of the vegetables that are in your version. Your sauce is weak. Did you put in Nam pla, dark and Light soy, and oyster? I can't taste it. And no cut Chilli? I attached my receipt (I had take away) and your menu. $19.95 plus tax is $21 over. Thai Herbs Kitchen in Brick in IMHO, more authentic and about 1/2 your price. Go check them...
