Annual family trip to the beach. 4 rooms- 16 people July 29, 30, 31 The first word that came to my husband's mouth when we pulled up to the hotel was "sketchy". We checked into 3 rooms and upon finding our rooms we realized we had 2 rooms next to each other, one room between those, then our 3rd room. That made no sense at all. Had they put our 3 rooms together, at least 2 of them could have been adjoining rooms. The 4th room was booked separately and checked in later. We quickly put our things in the rooms and left to get dinner. When we got back we had to ask for more towels as they only had 2 bath towels in each room with an occupancy of 4 in each. After looking over the room better I found dead bugs on the ottoman/leg rest and mold in the corners of the bath tub. We wouldn't be spending much time in the rooms so we didn't make a big deal of this. The next day was our beach day. After having the complimentary breakfast, which was descent and well stocked, we left for the day. We spent the whole day at the beach. There was a storm the night before which caused some water warnings and big waves. So even after spending the day at the beach we came back to the hotel to take a more relaxing swim in the pool. Walking to the pool you could clearly see that the windows were completely fogged up. As soon as opening the door the heat hit you. The temperature outdoors was in the 90's and it felt just as hot in the pool area. I went to the front desk to ask if they could turn the heat down and the woman said they had problems with it for the previous 2 days and that someone was coming the next day to try to fix it. She said she left the towel hamper by the door so we can prop the door open with it to help a little. There was no strong chlorine smell that you normally get from indoor pools which made me wonder if it was even chlorinated. Needless to say, our "relaxing" swim did not last very long as it felt like we were swimming in a sauna. But still, the best was yet to come. The next morning our family went down for breakfast at about 9 am. The food was bare. 1 out of 3 cereal dispensers had cereal in it. No juice, no milk, no fruit. Waffle mix was empty. The hot pans were labeled scrambled eggs and red skin potatoes had maybe 2 servings in them. The container which had assorted muffins and breads in it the day before, only had a few slices of bread in it. They knocked on the kitchen door an asked to ask about food refills, the woman said some things should be coming out shortly. 30 minutes later I joined them with more of our family. They told me what happened and the food still looked the same. My husband tried knocking on the kitchen door and no one came. I went to the front desk and rang the bell for the man to come and say that food would be out shortly. We waited another 5 minutes when I went back to the front desk and told him that even if refill the foods that doesn't require cooking that would help. After another 15 minutes my husband went to the front desk again. The same man again said that the food would be out shortly, my husband was already annoyed and told him it was BS and that he told us that over 20 minutes ago. By then we had told every guest that walked over to have breakfast that there was nothing there and that we've been waiting and asking to no avail. We gave up and checked out. We were completely disappointed with our stay and service. Especially since they are a Hilton property. We will definitely not be staying here again.

Unfortunately like most reviews I’m disgusted and disappointed with the hotel. I booked in advance because it was a road trip we just needed a nice clean place. On the app it didn’t have bad reviews and so I booked it. (Big mistake). Upon arrival I see the hotel (looks more like an super 8 than a Hampton hotel) and I look across the street and see a beautiful Hilton express (had I known they weren’t affiliated I would of 100% booked there I was even considering taking the L on my $200 to stay at a nicer place). Anyways. Upon arrival NO LIGHTS in the parking lot, people smoking directly outside in front (I have asthma). Fine, we go inside SMELLS LIKE MOLD, MILDEW, & CIGARETTES. Checking in the manager was fine. Upon entering the room it has all the fans running and the key door is just ANCIENT. The door didn’t even lock so I had to trust that the safety latch stopped people From coming in. It smelled worse than the lobby. All the mold and mildew was suffocating. List of problems continue as we get USED unfolded dirty towels, the drain plug out the shower, beds messily made, no body wash supplies anywhere, trash not taken out from previous users, and the toilet doesn’t even flush unless you lift the lid yourself and turn it!!! With all this distress I talked with the manager on duty and said for $200 a night I shouldn’t have to deal with this, I could have stayed somewhere nicer. He explained new house keepers and their learning (I tbh don’t care this is disgusting) and only offered $10 off my stay. That’s a slap in the face. $10 was not enough but I ended up taking it bcuz I’m very shy to speak. Coming from another Hampton inn and Marriott properties I have never had such problems before. This place is disgusting: Also ā€œfree breakfastā€ yeah no. All they had was yogurt and hot water in a big dish at 7am!?! I could have slept in my car and I would have been better off, even on the side walk with a blanket. Staff are not appropriately dressed either very unprofessional. I’m disgusted I had to pay for this hotel that left me with a sore throat and stuffy nose and the rest of my party sick from this filthy hotel. ****skip here for issues as a person looking at the hotel*** - don’t even think about free breakfast here - inappropriately dressed staff and mannerisms - not clean - toilet doesn’t work - no hygiene products - dirty bed and overall stay - mildew and mold smell Stay at the Hilton inn express next store I wish I did.

Clean is not a word I'd use to describe this place. What a terrible experience to have while on vacation. The first thing we encountered when we entered our room was a very potent smell of marihuana. So much so that we had to leave our door open for about an hour to get rid of the smell... Our room was not cleaned after several people had stayed in it. So, they rent it, make the beds, rent it again and again without changing sheets, without cleaning the bathroom. There was dog hair everywhere, I layed my phone down face down on the night stand then when I picked it up it was full of dog hair. I peeled the bed covers back and there was human hair as well as dog hair all over the bed, i attemptedto dust off as much dog hair as possiblebecausei have allergies. The toilet had a urine wet spot directly in front of it. I lowered the toilet seat to check behind the toilet seat and it was dirty and had human hair. The carpets were littered with debris. We spent approximately 30 minutes at the front desk at 11:00 at night trying to get a clean room and one that did not have a marihuana stench only to find out every room was in the same shape. There were other people downstairs angered and upset 😔. I have always had a good experience at Hampton Inn and thought it to be a quality hotel, well my opinion has drastically changed. Great for a One Night Stay!!

The last time I was in the Portage Area I stayed next door at the Holiday Inn Express. At the time it looked like this Hampton Inn was undergoing renovations. Sure enough, I was right, however, it is still a work in progress. As I learned some of the rooms are being uodated and others have been updated but not all or not completely or at least that's what I was told during my stay. This is like many other Hampton Inn and Suites a cookie-cutter clone in terms of layout and decor.

The front lobby and sitting areas at the entrance of the hotel look like they are relatively new. The Hilton app allows you to book your room ahead of time-based on the type of room you selected. Before the pandemic, you were issued a 'digital room key' which was activated once the room was cleaned and around the time you entered into the app that you would be arriving. I loved this feature as you could just walk in and go straight to your room. Now the Digital Key feature has been disabled, although the app ( at least at the time of my visit ) shows you have the digital key option.

My room was fairly large and clean. I booked a King Room as I was only there for night. It was large enough for my suitcases and items I bought in town. The desk is attached to a long cabinet that houses a place to put luggage, a dresser and TV stand combo and also connects to the desk. My room had a lounge chair and a very nice sized bed which was very comfortable. The bathroom upon first look, seemed bright and clean but when I went to take a shower the next morning I noticed the bathtub was old and stained. I guess the bathrooms are next up for the upgrade?

If you are a business traveller like me, connecting to the wifi is easy, and the signal is strong. I was able to connect easily for work and for surfing/streaming on the my personal devices. There are outlets and USB ports on the desk as well.

The pool was closed at the time, and I was able to use the fitness center which was on the small side. It had some cardio machines and a few other items for a workout. Nothing spectacular.

Breakfast was your typical Hampton offerings with hot and cold food choices, fresh fruit, dairy items and breads, pastries and cereals. There is a coffee station in the breakfast area as well.

Overall a good eventless stay, but this the hotel could use a sprucing up especially in the bathrooms and could have more items available in the fitness center. A good fitness centre should have multiple cardio machines, free weights, mats and exercise balls and a univeral weight machine. There is room for improvement but no issues with staff, noise or the confort of my room. I will try this location again once all the updates...
