Probably the classiest, most up scale looking bar / (nightclub?) In all of Portage. Macedonian owned and operated. Pretty cool place. I am happy there is finally a clean, higher end bar in the area. Prices seemed very reasonable for the area.
I went back a week later on Saturday. The place starts jumping around 10 and is loaded by 11. Of all the places in the immediate vicinity, the place was packed with single women that were attractive (I knew they existed out here, you just had to have a decent enough place to attract them).
Update: March 5th:. The bar continues to be a good place for networking and I think the only major issue is the lack of a subwoofer for discrete lows in their music. They push their main speakers a bit too hard sometimes (and you can hear them clip).
They need a sign on the road. Because the location doesn't jump right out at you when you're on 20. But other than that, love the place.
Getting better lately. Sound system seems to be improving.
Update July 9th. Sound system is good. If you're known here it's a good thing. Aside from that the ownership may scam on...
Read moreDrove across the country from Vegas to PA this week with my dad. We were staying right next to bar 20 at the OYO and we didn't really want to eat there for some reason. After the bar across from it told us their kitchen closed at 9 (it was 8:57) we went to bar 20 instead.
Boy am I glad we did!! The bartenders were amazing, there were games and a live band... coming from Vegas I did not have high hopes for a random bar in Portage, Indiana, but I was extremely impressed. The fries were perfect, the band "High Street," who plays every Wednesday, was PHENOMENAL. We had such a blast.
This bar is such a fun vibe and only an 8 minute drive from the riverwalk at Lake Michigan! If you're passing through or live local and are thinking about going to bar 20, do it.
P.S. Shout out to Katie the bartender who helped me out when I...
Read moreThe food is decent, and the atmosphere is laid-back, but the alcohol is highly questionable. I’m certain the Don Julio Añejo served here is not authentic—it was so watered down that it didn’t even taste like tequila. I can’t recommend this place to anyone. My wife and I came for a drink, only to be served watered-down shots of Don Julio and disgusting margaritas that seemed pre-mixed and possibly expired. On top of that, the music was terrible, essentially forcing you to pay $2 per song on the jukebox or endure the misery. There are plenty of other bars in the area that actually serve the liquor you pay for, unlike this place with its diluted tequila and...
