I'm going to be honest. I hope the truth can be appreciated. ( sorry no photos my phone alerted me to make a review after our visit) The services mediocre the food was good but the portions were small and the prices were high, way too high! Our server really didn't care much about her job and it showed there was a server that helped us three times that was not ours so I went out of my way to tip her and I'm pretty sure someone tried to snitch her out because of that I hope nothing bad became of that because she deserved the tip I gave her and I also gave our waitress who was mediocre a good tip. Now, about the food situation. This inflation is a joke! And you better believe everybody is taking full advantage of it I was very surprised on what restaurants are doing now. I used to always get Flo's steak and lobster but now it's close to $40 for a 6 oz filet mignon and a tiny little lobster tail tiny little pile of mashed potatoes 2 to 3 tablespoons Maybe. My issue is, she asked me if I would like Souper Salad and I opted for soup and she said well just so you know there's a $3 upcharge on that! Then she asked me what side I wanted I looked at the menu and it had mac and cheese so I said I would like mac and cheese as a side and she responded okay but to let you know there's a $3 up charge on that! Now we're talking about a meal As I stated that has a six ounce steak a tiny little lobster tail And About Three tablespoons of mashed potatoes so add $6 to that for the size that didn't used to be enough charge and now you're talking about $50 for a very small serving of a dinner with a mediocre waitress serving you will you have to keep beckoning and getting up and asking for. I mean outside of that the food was good but something about it just kind of ruined the time we were trying to share you know keep asking for things you need like napkins or drink refill or maybe a steak sauce and there's no one to be found but somebody else's waitress which really makes you feel like a pest when you're trying to enjoy your dinner with your family! Read moreFirst, let me start by saying that my wife and I were very impressed. This was our 1st time Longhorn and we were blown away. If any of you are in the Portage ,IN area, this is a "MUST STOP TO EAT THERE" type of place. The restaurant was very clean. We were sat down right away and the ambiance was a very pleasant one. Also, our server Kevin was absolutely 100% phenomenal. He, by far has been one of our best servers we have had. I told him yesterday that whenever we go there again, we're going to ask for him. A little background on him, he was a cook before there at Longhorn and is a server now. He recommends you different options and is a real down to earth type of guy. Longhorn is blessed to have him as their employee. If we had a bunch of Kevin's in every restaurant, the restaurant businesses would never have any customer complaints. Ok, now to the food part. My first time eating steak in a restaurant and of course, all my meats have to be well done. I ordered to Longhorn Steak, largest steak they serve, and "OH MY GOODNESS" I thought I died and went to heaven. Talk about a well done, juicy, no steak sauce needed type of steak. The mashed potatoes, oh my goodness, very creamy. The best mashed potatoes I've ever eaten. The bread that is brought out to you before eating is so nice and warm that the butter just melts as you're spreading it out. My wife had the Parmesan Crusted Chicken with baked potato and she was blown away by the taste it had. She also had the loaded baked potato soup and she says that was the best soup she has ever tasted. We were ready to go and here comes Kevin, "Can I interest you in some desert?" And we fell for it. Kevin recommended to my wife the Triple Chocolate Cheesecake and it was so good. Of course I get in the mood for desert as well and end up with the Bakers Dozen Donut Bites. Read moreWe arrived and were seated right away. Unfortunately, we were seated under a line of about 8 air vents that were blowing cold air (cold day). We asked our current server to be seated elsewhere and she said that was no problem. She told us we would have to go back into line and wait for another open seat (they didn't look that busy) when one became available. She then went to another table of about 6 or 8 and began taking their orders. Since it was so cold, we flagged down another employee to get the manager so we could be reseated sooner and NOT have to wait in line again. The manager came and we explained our situation. Within about a minute, we were asked by an employee to follow him to our new table which was MUCH better. Problems over.............well, not really. We ordered our food and when it came, my steak was perfect. My fathers steak was medium (lots of pink inside) when he ordered medium well (barely any pink). They offered to redo his steak and he kept his baked potato. The next steak came and it was medium rare (lots of pink with a hint of blue). The server admitted it looked worse than the first one. It got sent back again and he kept the second potato. The same steak was refired and when we got it back, it was beyond well done (no pink, all grey and very dry). No potato this time. My father then asked for a chopped steak instead. The chopped steak came and was done perfectly along with a new potato. Now, you might question why we rated the service and food as excellent. The food was excellent when done correctly. The service was spectacular as there was absolutely NO issue with our server or with the manager with having to serve one dinner 4 times. We told them that it's not always the mistake that is made, but how you handle the mistake. These guys handled it very professionally and with courtesy.
