So my boyfriend and I planned this trip two months ahead of time. We are from Maine. First thought pulling into the parking lot of the Hampton was this isn't good. There were crime scene vehicles as well as cops. We walked in and the lobby was absolutely insane. There was soccer teams there with their parents, they were all getting trashed in the lobby in the pool room and wherever else they could fit. Kids running around everywhere, in the pool jumping into the pool and to the hot tub, the entire building smelled of alcohol. We were unable to use the pool or the hot tub, we barely got Saturday's breakfast. There was so many people and it was so loud. None of the teams abided by the rules and they made such a bad impression. The front desk ladies Joanna and Carla were absolutely amazing. They worked with us they talked with us they understood where we were coming from and are frustrations. As someone who has been in the hotel business for over 20 years and who has worked for the Hilton brand I can honestly say that was the worst experience I have ever had. Portsmouth police department came in for all of 20 minutes and left. They couldn't even get the crowd under control nor did they try it was almost like they were intimidated. Full grown adults made Joanna cry because she was trying to shut down the pool. The language that was used from the guests to the staff was uncalled for. Though Joanna Carla and Alessandra were absolutely wonderful. I really want to make that clear because the things that the hotel staff went through this weekend was ridiculous and I know for a fact that none of them deserve what they went through. As far as the room housekeeping you are doing an amazing job. The room was absolutely beautiful as a housekeeper myself I didn't see anything wrong with the room it was perfect. There was a slight issue with our heat but that was fixed and everything was fine. Very thankful to the front desk and to the maintenance gentleman. As far as I'm concerned and I'm sure others are as well that is not the Hilton way / Hampton way. The people on the soccer teams should be very ashamed of their behavior. I hope in the future that the Hampton doesn't accept those teams ever again. Thank you very much to the AGM Alessandra for understanding and for helping us. I'm not one to complain I'm usually one to let things slide because I'm an understanding person. But the behavior of those teams this weekend was on call for it and Portsmouth PD really needs to step up and do something when they are called. . Cops are there to help make people safe and I can tell you that the front desk nor myself and my boyfriend felt comfortable or safe.. beautiful hotel great staff horrible weekend. Maybe I'll get lucky and an overhead that sees the Hampton will see this. I've mentioned this to several other places but maybe somehow in the future there can be a way to let people know when there's going to be big teams before they arrive. Just a suggestion but I can't be the only one that's frustrated with things like this. Again absolutely great staff couldn't have asked for better people to talk with and housekeeping and maintenance do...
Read moreThe Front desk staff (guy & girl) were very helpful and fun to talk to. The girl with straight blonde hair with tint of blue and glasses, was so nice! She checked me in and offered us some free beer and wine and smartfood popcorn! I've never had this happen before anywhere. It was nice cuz we had just made the free beverage time deadline, and it was a nice welcome after our trip! She asked if I'd like a certain room, I didn't, and she ended up giving us a room with a beautiful view! We had gotten tattoos while up in NH, and the desk staff were so sweet talking to us about them! Our Bruce cat boy loved the view at this hotel.
One of the cleaning ladies, she was short with long dark hair, didn't have a mask on one afternoon while working and waiting for the elevator, and it was her actions that were just a bit strange. We came around the corner to the elevator from our room, she was waiting already, in addition to another guy. The doors opened within 3 seconds of us getting there, she turned to us and said she felt uncomfortable going into a elevator without a mask on and with us who had masks on. We said okay no problem we can take the next one. She entered..with the other guy who had a mask on...., and before the doors closed proceeded to tell us she works there (no staff uniform), so that's why she didn't have one on, shrugged her shoulders and in the same sentence and said , there's no signs saying we need to do it. The doors then shut right as she finishes, and my boyfriend and I just looked at each other in silence, then laughed. We didn't care, but huh??? Lol, there were blue signs everywhere on each floor, infront of elevators, at front desk and some, saying keep mask on, stay 6 ft away, and more. So we were confused as to what she meant and why she said that, considering she works there.
Unfortunately there was a problem with our shower being clean on arrival. It had small hairs scattered in the whole tub. It was kinda gross, but we were able to turn water on and get rid of them.
(By Owners comment I can see they didn't read my whole review) The only other thing I'd recommend to the Management/Owner, is the cleaning staff not start cleaning rooms at 5am till 9am. All we hear from that time frame every 10 mins or so was doors slamming, and bouncing off the lock left open. Like when you leave the lock out so the door won't close or shut. There was no voices during this time, or other customers we encountered at all on our floor besides the much older older couple the first time we got off on our floor the first day. The doors get blue tags on the doors after cleaning. 3-4 rooms around us later that morning around 10am had them on them when they didn't before. The next night/morning from 5-9am again, we heard the same sound. Every 10 mins or so. And some more rooms had the blue tags on the doors. So all and all, I'm glad we were only staying two nights. If we were able to get a good night's sleep on this trip, it would of all been amazing, I would have recommend this place to everyone. But if you like to sleep at normal hours like most people do, it might be hard to get some...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed 4/2-4/5/25. When we booked the hotel we saw that this location was doing construction to update the rooms. We had requested the 5th floor to be away from the construction. We were given the 1st floor with a remodeled room. We were told the 2nd & 4th floors were still under construction. Our room was nice & clean and quiet during the night. Morning breakfast was great every morning. Front staff & breakfast staff were all very friendly. *1st issue: In the mornings (around 9am), there was very loud construction in the room directly above us. We had to get up early and leave every day to avoid the loud construction noise. *2nd issue: After long day of walking and exploring, we were looking forward to using the hot tub each night. Hours for the pool/hot tub area is posted as 6am -10pm on the pool door and on the website. We were able to use the hot tub until 10pm for 1night. Then on 4/4, there were a large group of cheerleaders that checked in and small girls using the pool & hot tub for most of the night. We waited patiently (20 minutes) for them to leave and then we were able to use the hot tub at around 8:50pm, which we didn't mind since the previous night we hung out until 10pm. Around 9:05pm, a large man with a black "security" shirt comes into the pool area and starts yelling at us "time to go, pool & hot tub is closed". We said we thought it closed at 10pm, then he yelled back at us - the sign is posted that it closes at 9pm! Very rude - especially since we're adults and he didn't have the courtesy to walk over to us to tell us. Instead he just wanted to shout across the room to us. We immediately left and spoke with the front desk. They had printed a "new sign" with pool hours 6am - 9pm and taped it over the existing sign because they didn't want the little cheerleaders staying up late in the pool area or front lobby. So the entire hotel was under a curfew even for guests not part of the cheerleading groups. We had complained but were told that we had to abide by the new hours. We always stay at Hilton & Hampton Inns (Hilton Honors members) and have never been treated this way or had the hotel make up their own hours to create a fake curfew for groups that booked the hotel for soccer, cheerleading, etc. Definitely disappointed as this was our first time in New Hampshire and we only booked this specific location because of the indoor hot tub & pool....
