I have had one negative experience after another with Jared Portsmouth as well as the Signet Corp as a whole: I will say there were a few sales people along the way that have been a delight to work with. I have many pieces from Jared that I have inspected every 6 months. With that said, the struggle started in 2017 when we shopped for Engagement Jewelry/center stones. We spent considerable time in the store. Toward the end of the visit, I asked if any sales were coming up. "Jess" responded: “This isn't a discount chain, we don't do that here". I was not only insulted, but considered NEVER doing business there again (after almost 30 years of buying from them) We left & I ended up speaking to the DM who persuaded us to make the stone purchase and assured me this was "not the way we speak to customers or do business'". I was told that Jess was asked to apologize to me, but it never came. I also bought a semi (the following year I believe, in 2018) I loved the design and was elated that I had found my "Forever jewelry". Very shortly after this, my routine inspection uncovered half of the gallery on my semi had disintegrated! I was shocked. I've never ever had a pice of jewelry fall apart like this. I have a huge collection that has lasted over the years, and this disturbed me. This was my ceremony set & the style was no longer available for purchase. I had a lovely sales person & I found a new semi and a brand new band to match. But VERY shortly after the purchase (within a year) a stone fell out of the band! They opted to send it out out to replace the stone but it could take months! I requested a replacement & they granted it. Less than a MONTH later a stone fell out again! This was very disturbing. The sales woman said, “you seem to really like the delicateness of Marquis, maybe you should look into something else”. Seriously, she really said that to me. I't’s MY fault that I picked a delicate style? Obviously the mounting quality of the diamonds is the problem as history has proven a pattern of poor craftsmanship. I was dismayed and extremely disappointed. (The only thing that I originally got married with was the center stone) So, I demanded they refund me for the band that had now lost stones twice. If you’re keeping track, this is ring #3! We were now in 2022 & they refunded me for the band, minus the $$ I paid for the extended warranty that is apparently needed with Jared bridal pieces. The 2nd semi remained & we decided not buy anything else to match it. It wouldn’t mean anything now. I was very disappointed, these pieces were supposed to last a lifetime. Now in 2023JUNE, I boxed up all my pieces to have my 6 month inspection. I looked down at my semi as I loved it, and I noticed a STONE MISSING! I shut the engine off, went into the house to process this. I was not able to go to the store in the state of mind I was in. I waited a couple of days. The store manager Sherry told me they would replace the stone. Adamantly I said “NO. I am done and want a refund”. I gently reminded her of the history, but she called Corporate. They would only replace the stone & she pushed me off to Customer care! I asked her to have the District manager call me, NO CALL BACK. I called the store again as Customer care was utterly useless. The DM was actually in the store that day, but I had to I leave a message and again, NO CALL BACK. Waited weeks for Customer care to resolve this issue/got the same response/the stone would only be replaced. Unacceptable!! This company doesn’t understand that Bridal jewelry is precious & that customers have the reasonable expectation that it should stand the test of time?? I called the Store and left a message for the Manager Sherry, NO CALL BACK. I filed a complaint on the BBBureau. Signet responded “There was nothing wrong with the ring before the stone fell out, so all we can do is replace the stone” I rejected their response, there was nothing wrong with the other FOUR rings either until the stones fell out and/or deteriorated!! History shows bad workmanship! Next - small claims....

I went into Jared’s with my fiancé for the sole purpose of getting his finger measured and maybe try on a few things just to get an idea of what we like for wedding bands. He didn’t love any and neither did I, but I explained that I wanted a plain band that was the same size and structure as the band on my custom engagement ring. They said there may be issues with the band fitting next to the ring based on my diamond setting, and talked me into a shadow band as if that was exactly what I wanted. I had no idea what a shadow band was, and assumed it was what I was looking for based on my explanation. I was told I would have to jump on it because a custom band takes a few weeks and our wedding is just around the corner. With custom bands they make a wax ring mock up for you to approve. When it came in, it gave me a bit of an understanding of what a shadow band truly was and I wasn’t sure if I loved it, but I was also thrown off by the fact that they got the dimensions completely wrong. They then tried to charge me $150 to correct the dimensions error on their end, plus I wasn’t able to accurately determine if I liked the band. After they corrected the wax I went back for final approval, at that point I was so deep into the process and trying to get on board with the shadow band that I approved it. When I got the final ring in I cried buckets. It was absolutely nothing like I had hoped and it cost me over $1k. And on top of that they needed my engagement ring off and on for almost 3 weeks throughout this process. When I got it back the final time it was all gouged and scratched. When I went back with a calm head to explain that I hated my ring, that I spent over $1k on, they apologized and told me there was nothing they could do because it was custom, but agreed to polish my engagement ring. I am now melting the custom band down and having it remade by another jeweler, exactly how I originally wanted. I feel like Jared’s never bothered to figure out what I actually wanted, and pushed the option that they thought would look good, which also just so happened to be terribly expensive. I will NEVER in my LIFE shop here again. Thank you for nothing but tears and...
Read morei stopped into the jareds jewelry store, late sunday afternoon, the 28th of july 2024. i had a very inexpensive watch that needed a battery replacement and i had spent the better part of two days trying to find someone that could/would do this for me. there were three employees there (2 women, one man) and i told them what i needed. one of the ladies looked at it and that they probably would have to send it out. i said that i was just visiting, and was flying out in just a few hours. it was then suggested that i try the zales store in the adjacent mall and i said (honestly) that they had referred me to them. well, the two ladies kinds sorted hemmed and hawed and the man said, let me take look. i handed it him and he said, i make no promises but lets see what i can do. he took off and i was standing there with the two ladies. one of the ladies noticed my wedding band (gold band with 5 natural gold nuggets attached) and asked if she could have a better look. i took it off and she asked if she could polish it up for me and i agreed. she also asked if my wife was in the car outside and if she had her band with her she would be happy to polish it as well. the man returned very shortly with the watch ticking away. the lady returned with the ring and i asked what i owed them and was given a number FAR less than i expected. my hats off to that particular store and the people working there that afternoon. thank you very much. i never expected such great service especially because i was not a customer and didn't purchase the watch from them. ...
