It is decent for what it is. If you're not familiar with Columbus, it's about 13 miles from downtown. About a 15-20 minute ride on rideshare.
It's located in a blue collar area. You could classify it as low income to middle class. Hard to gauge since I'm not from Ohio. I saw what could have been some low income housing nearby behind the waffle house.
I ate at that waffle house, the folks there had a range of looks from modern rapper, small family to farm-raised war vet grandpa to mechanics. They were all fine, nothing alarming from any contingent.
Back to the hotel:
Folks are the front desk are helpful, cordial. This despite putting out what appeared to be small fires via complaints or adjustments from guests.
To be fair, the guests seemed like they would be problematic anywhere. But I didn't pay close attention.
The location appears to be convenient for ride share. I had Uber eats delivered as well without issue.
The room itself had decent space for the price. Aside from a previous guests soup and soda in the fridge, the place was clean.
I choose a non-smoking area but the scent of marijuana was strong in an adjacent room--so strong that I thought my room may have had that smell in the sheets.
On closer inspection, my sheets and pillows were fine but there was a cigarette burn on the comforter.
It wasn't as quiet as I'd like but for a 2 star hotel, I didnt have high expectations. I needed it to be clean, I needed ride-sharing to be simple. It met that standard.
Had to turn up the TV to drown out some hallway chatter at times but not for the entire stay or evening.
I saw an indoor pool, it is very small but by comparison the Marriott downtown is nearly 4 times the price and theirs is smaller.
I can't be sure of the hygiene for the pool. It didn't look to be as clean as it could be but I didnt give it close examination. At 25 degrees last night they may not anticipate swimming agendas.
They serve a continental breakfast. But that's a generous title. There was a waffle maker, a fridge with yogurt and milk for the single serve cereal on offer, some apples, slices of bread that appeared to be out of a bargain brand bag and some mini donuts.
Again, for this price, this is fine. But be sure to calibrate your expectations...
Read moreThis is a very unsafe hotel. It has people living in it full time with loud children. They cook horrible smelling food in the rooms that travels to your room. There is obviously drug use, drug dealers and hookers. The hotel in and out smells like marijuana. It is unclean. The room had stuff on the walls and the floors looked as if they were not cleaned in a long time. Mold in the bath and shower area. People coming and going with different partners or men! The breakfast was horrific. The elevator was not working. The noise from the freeway and road outside was enough to keep you up the entire night. People blowing their horn and or loud mufflers. You could here every conversation in the adjoining rooms, both above, below and next store. It is NOISY and horrible if you want to sleep! The area is very depressed and unsafe. Sheriffs in the grocery store nearby. Signs everywhere that they are not responsible for theft. We did not get any rest and left as early as we could. We pushed furniture to block the doors that is how unsafe we felt. We had checked in from a trip to the local casino and driving to another hotel was not an option. We were forced to stay and it was beyond unsafe and unclean! Horrible experience. This was our first Red Roof Inn stay and our LAST! This location is not on the casino recommendation list and for good reason! DO NOT STAY at this location, if you have cash on you from gambling, you indeed will feel unsafe. Drug use, dealers and hookers evident! RUN!! and DO NOT STAY HERE!! unless of course you are looking for that...
Read moreMy recent stay at the Red Roof Inn was, regrettably, a series of disappointments that fell significantly short of the comfort and hospitality I had anticipated. Upon entering my room, I was immediately confronted by an overpowering scent of incense, a futile attempt to mask a residual odor of marijuana. This was not only unpleasant but also raised concerns about the room's cleanliness, despite the bed, sheets, and pillows being notably clean.
The inn's location on a main street, a popular spot for local drag racing, was a significant source of disturbance. The incessant noise made it challenging to enjoy a peaceful night's sleep or a quiet moment during the day. This situation was further exacerbated by the presence of intoxicated individuals in the parking area, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere and raising safety concerns. Adding to the discomfort was an air conditioning unit in my room that was non-functional, making the stay particularly uncomfortable given the summer heat.
The staff's discourteous attitude did little to alleviate these issues, adding to the overall dissatisfaction. The breakfast layout was a letdown, lacking in both variety and quality. Furthermore, the absence of coffee cups, a basic amenity one would expect in any accommodation, was a glaring oversight. In conclusion, my stay at the Red Roof Inn was far from satisfactory, with several areas needing immediate attention and...
