On 9/21/2019 I went to Value City Furniture to purchase a new bedroom set for an apartment I was set to move into on October 1st. Sold the "Toronto " 6 piece bedroom set color pecan. explained it was in stock and would be available for delivery the soonest, and delivery date was set up for Friday October 4th, 2019. Thursday October 3rd, 2019 the day before my scheduled delivery date, and after we'd moved into the apartment. Value city furniture called to say they'd no longer be delivering the furniture the next day, and it would not be available for another month possibly 2. I went into the store and was told there was nothing they could do. They then told me I could pick out another set and they could deliver that if it was in stock and within the price point. There was only one set in stock, an inferior set that I didn't really like, yet for some reason they said they couldn't deliver until the following Wednesday, even though my delivery wasn't scheduled until the next day. The manager then "discovered" that there was a returned Toronto set on the warehouse floor in the back, unassembled. He said he could discount the set because it was a return, and discount the sale because of the hassle I'd been dealing with. He then goes on to say he could not deliver until the following Wednesday even though it was still the day before my scheduled delivery date. I explained to him that I had already been sleeping on the floor on a mattress with my disabled tube fed son since moving in to my new address, and questioned why he couldn't put the set on the truck already scheduled for delivery the next day. He said there was nothing he could do. He said he could give me a metal frame to put my mattress and boxsping on until delivery. I got home and told my father in law what happened (my son's father is deceased). He was upset . He went and rented a Uhaul and went and picked up the set. When he got it back to my place, it was not a full bedroom set , it was a bunch of random bed set parts without proper assembly hardware. My Fil called the manager and told him, and after a lengthy convo mark told him he would ordered another set and have it sent out, but it would not arrive until November. They refused to come get their un useable parts and suggested we rent another Uhaul if we wanted it out of our garage to bring it back to them. I called the Value city furniture corporate office in Ohio and explained what had transpired, that my son and I were still sleeping on a Mattress on a metal frame, and that now Mark had charged our credit card for TWO bedroom sets, Two delivery fees, never credited us the discounts he had promised and further inconvenienced us, plus cost us additional monies for a Uhaul, and suggested we do him yet another favor by bringing his parts back to his store. The corporate associate promised me she would have a supervisor call me back immediately. A week went by before a supervisor called. They called my home line. I called them today 10/18/19 to ask why I'd not been contacted on the line I provided. My cell. She had no notes as to what had transpired with my order. Their furniture parts have been sitting in my garage for 3 weeks. They have refused to come get them because it is inconvenient for them. I can not park my vehicle in my garage. I've called their delivery coordinator at the Amherst store with no return call. I had the corporate supervisor tell me she set up pickup for the metal bedframe and parts for October 23rd, but she did not consult with anyone at my home, and there is nobody home on that day, and she said I can just reschedule then it's my problem. She then suggested I go rent a uhaul and bring their merchandise back to them. I can not buy another bedroom set until my funds are released on my credit card. They will not release or return my funds until their heap of garbage is removed from what has become their free storage unit a.k.a. my garage. So I am to lose more money for a company who obviously enjoys taking advantage of their customers and selling boxes of used parts in lieu...
Read moreWe had just a terrible experience today. We bought 7000.00 worth of furniture. After excitedly waiting for 3 weeks today was the day of delivery. The delivery people showed up with terrible attitudes. They were very reckless with our leather furniture. Dropping it on the ground outside of our house. The attitudes were completely careless. After a 17,000.00 remodel and our protection of that the carelessness of the delivery men was astonishing. Worse than that when we asked them to be careful the attitude was so poor that we were taken back by surprise. Finally we had them leave and take the furniture. Some of the major events were a delivery driver throwing his phone across our house and say "You don't mean anything to us!" They also took the large dresser and let it slide down our stairs without any effort to stop it from damaging our property. We are in shock and almost feel as though the police should have been called and a report filed. They left our bedroom torn apart as you can see in the attached picture. Immediately after the delivery men left we went to the store to seek some resolution. We would have settled for different personnel to deliver later that day. In no way were we seeking any discounts. We recieved no customer service nor apology. Not to mention we took days off of work and rearranged our schedules for delivery. Upon leaving the store my wife was so disappointed she was in tears. We headed to American Freight. We spent half as much for better furniture and it was delivered by the end of the day. The delivery drivers for American Freight were courteous, professional, and a pleasure to have in our home.We are left scratching our heads on this one. My guess is there will be a hollow response by some bot by Value City. Consumer's do have a voice. I recommend...
Read moreI understand that based on the overall score VCF has, that this review may be an anomaly, but I can't give any type of decent review because I cannot even begin to describe the unprofessional hell that this ridiculous company has made us endure. We bought a sectional sofa in June of 2022. By September, we had to have a technician come out and repair some frame damage to one arm and the ottoman from light use. All was still good, as they did repair it. By May 2023, we reported even more frame damage and submitted a claim. I was told the entire couch would be replaced and that I needed to bring the broken couch to the fulfillment center. Bought a Uhaul and loaded it up on my designated date. When I got there, they said they were just replacing the Chaise. I was upset, but was told they'd look into and get a technician to repair the other issues I had. I never heard back about anything. By the end of 2023, I had open claims for every part of my couch (the new Chaise broke in an almost identical place). End of January 2024, a technician comes to my house to evaluate the couch. He tells me "the ottoman and chaise edge aren't made to be sat on." What?! Then I get the results today that every claim is denied because it's "an accumulation of damage." Yeah? Well maybe these piece of junk couches you sell for thousands of dollars shouldn't be able to accumulate so much damage from just being sat on over the course of a year and a half! And I would be able to cope with that if the ADDITIONALLY PRICED warranty would do ANYTHING about it. In my experience, just steer clear of this company. Once they get your money, you are stuck with what you got and you will get some truly bad...
