The staff went out of their way to be certain that I was provided for in every possible way. The suites are very thoughtfully designed. I could think of nothing that anyone traveling for either business or pleasure might need that had not already been provided. One suggestion: a written explanation of how to get the DVD player to work would be very welcome. I felt that I had accomplished some major skills when I actually, accidentally got the DVD running. At 62, the skills needed to get electronic equipment working are best left to my 6 yr old grand daughter.
The staff remembered that I had stayed with them last month, and never did get my iPad to work on their wifi system, so they worked with me and finally set up a special access for me to use. That was so very much appreciated! I had much work to do on the Internet, and had not been able to use my iPad before. They were very kind and even eager to help. That is more than my local ISP does at home.
I had noticed that they have many returning soldiers, who they know by name, personal and professional needs, and handle the many and varied requirements asked of them with speed, efficiency, and yet with a warm touch. This is a very good staff.
I especially want to thank Nikki W. for all her help and assistance in making the two stays I have had in Radcliff, at the Candlewood Suites so pleasant, and for her special attention to my iPad wifi problems. She found the right person who was able to find a way to make my problems all go away, thus allowing me to get my work done, then relax and enjoy the many amenities at Candlewood.
Many thanks to the managers, staff, and a special thank you to Nikki and...
Read moreTreatment of guests and their customer service is unmatched! This is my third stay at this exact hotel and I lost count of how many Candlewoods I've stayed at over the years. I always choose them because of the care they provide for their guests. This go around, I had a room with a tiny hole in the screen that was allowing stink bugs to get inside the room. A bug or 2 I don't mind, but there turned out to be a lot. That said, William at the front desk was amazingly helpful! The hotel was booked for the night, but he made some changes and promised I'd have a new room the next day and that they'd move all my stuff for me in the morning. In the meantime, he was so great getting the hole sealed and removing every single bug he could find, plus covering the air conditioner with a sheet just in case they got in there, too. He even gave me lavender scented dryer sheets and hung them around the window because he looked up what scents the stink bugs don't like, which he absolutely didn't have to do. He must've come to the room 5-6 times, each time with another measure to keep the room bug-free for the night (which worked). The following day, I was indeed given another room, very clean and roommate-free! Candace, the manager, was also amazing as she helped me with my per diem government travel when no other place in the area would. She even recognized my name from speaking with me over the phone which just shows how much attention the staff pay to their guests. Things happen, that's life, and the way the whole situation was handled was nothing short of what great hotel service should be. Definitely will continue to be a...
Read moreWe had a confirmed reservation for "1 king bed 1 bedroom suite". Upon arrival, I was asked to sign check-in form; and noticed before signing that it was for a queen studio room which did not suit our family needs. The desk clerk advised that they didn't have any king suites available which was extremely difficult to understand, as we had a confirmed reservation. She explained that they only have four king suites. Frankly, I don't care if they have four or 4,000, I was interested in only the one for which I had a reservation. To worsen the matter, the desk clerk was on the phone and I overheard her state that another guest had been unhappy with his/her room, so they were moved to the king suite, disregarding our reservation. When I asked to speak with the hotel manager, I was told that she is not available after 5:00 PM or over weekends and we could contact her on Monday -- not much help for Friday through Sunday! ||What is the point of making a reservation, if the hotel personnel refuse to honor it?||We eventually secured a king studio suite at a nearby hotel. But, when I returned and requested that the desk clerk cancel the Candlewood reservation, I was told that was impossible, as she had already started the check-in process -- without my signature on the check-in form! This caused a "hold" on my AMEX account for four days for a non-purchase!||This situation ruined the beginning of our vacation/family time. This was our first experience with IHG Hotels; and, given this debacle, it will be a long, long time before we consider IHG...
