I’ve stayed at this hotel on two different occasions, years apart. I didn’t experience any of the things noted in the negative reviews. My most recent stay was April, 2025. We had a wonderful time staying in Raleigh and I love the location of this hotel. We literally parked our car Friday and it didn’t move until Sunday. We stayed on the side where you can see the train and we must be great sleepers because we didn’t hear a thing! Nobody was ‘partying’ in the rooms around us the weekend we were there (and that didn’t happen when I stayed years ago). We didn’t hear the night club or people in the streets. I can’t remember the room number, but if I think it was the rooms to the left when looking at the map to choose rooms. In the lobby we walked to the right to get to it. We loved the Sales Manager who was working the front desk. Her name is Lilly Spence (Hey Lilly, it’s Megan&Megan!)! She went above and beyond for us and made our stay great! She is a ‘people person’ and this hotel is lucky to have her on staff. Tips for your stay: We started the weekend going to the Mexican restaurant called La Santa. We hopped around at some awesome bars (Botanical Garden Lounge & Rooftop and Killjoy). Then walked across the street and spent the entire evening at the piano bar, PLUS. We had fun because we interacted with the piano players and those around us. The best part…LITERALLY STEPS back to the hotel. The next day we got breakfast at the hotel, which was actually really good! Then we got scooters near the hotel and scootered all over the place! We ate lunch at Beasleys (highly recommend). Also stopped at Sir Walter’s Cafe (great stop), and somehow found ourselves on N. Person Street. Great area! We stopped by Person Street Pharmacy and they had a line out their door for their deli! We can imagine the sandwiches were good! We weren’t ready to eat, but we wished we were. This area, I believe, is historic Oakwood. We scootered to a few more bars near Glenwood, played pool at a dive bar and loved it! Raleigh Beer Garden has mini golf and a great outdoor space. We ended the night at Tin Roof because we love live music. Had a great night! Walking back to the hotel was interesting as this street is packed with people out for the nightlife! Have an open mind when walking back! Nobody bothered us! Again, we got a good nights sleep at the hotel with no problems. Ended the trip with the scooters riding back to Beasleys and Sir Walter’s. We stopped at the front desk to make sure we could get out of the parking deck and the person (Lilly’s mom!) working gave us a new key that activated the gate at the parking deck. Overall great trip for us that ended at The Hurricanes game! Again, we had 0 issues at the hotel and the proximity to everything was...
Read moreMy main problem is with the PARKING FEE. I booked through Expedia. I did not notice any parking fee and there are reviews that state there is free parking. I did later find on the site that it says self parking for $8 per night. When I arrived for check in my friend & I tried to enter the parking deck that says Hampton Inn on the side & has a ticket machine, but there is a sign that says to check in to the hotel first. So we had to pull off to the side while I ran in to check in. I was given two parking passes to enter the parking deck. So we parked without incident. Then on Sunday when we were trying to leave the parking deck to explore the city the machine said RFID not recognized and would not let us leave. I had to back up and park to go in to figure out the issue while my friend sat out in the car in 90 degree weather. The woman at the front desk was confused by the issue. She stated that she doesn't work often. She pulled out some printed instructions on the issue and phoned a friend on video call to show them the screen of the tablet to help her. It took her about 45 minutes to get the issue resolved while my friend waited for me. Finally we were able to leave. We had two cars so of course when it came time to leave I had to go through the same thing over again but at least that time the employee was quicker to figure out that the numbers on the pass had not been entered in correctly upon check in and that was why it didn't work. Not sure why neither pass worked but the previous employee said someone else had the same issue.
I took all of that in stride and was very calm and understanding. The problem arose after I left and got hit with the unexpected $120 charge on my credit card that I only gave for "incidentals". I almost fainted. I tried calling the front desk & was told that the parking was city parking and not owned by the hotel and was $20 per day. I asked should I not have been warned upon check in and was told that yes, I should have. I was warned about the noise so that did not come as a surprise. As you can see from all of the other reviews the noise is insane. That I was ok with because I expected it after seeing the open air night club next door. But the insane parking fees when I thought it was provided free by the hotel was not. I was not helped by Hampton Inn nor Expedia even though they misrepresent how much parking is. I am working on connecting with management about the issue and will not stop until I am given some form of solution for this issue. Maybe if I hadn't even had a huge issue with the parking pass I would accept it but the fact that I was charged and my time wasted all on the parking I cannot...
Read moreThis is one of the worst hotel stays I have ever experienced. We originally called to see if we could check in a few hours early, and the front desk employee did not even check to see if anything was available, she just said no despite being of status with Hilton. We stopped by the hotel not too much later since we were in the area, and suddenly a room was available for us. After spending many hours outside in the 90+ degree heat for Raleigh Pride, we returned to the hotel to find that the running water was not working throughout the building. We were unable to use the shower, sink, or toilet. The front desk said that there was a water leak in the hotel and it should be back on at 7:15 pm. The water was still not working at that time. The water was ultimately off for hours, and we were not able to do anything until it came back on, and then we still had to wait for it to run clear and for the hot water heater to kick in. For our inconvenience, the hotel only offered a $5 gift card to a boba tea store across the street. This was laughable because our inconvenience far surpassed that. There was no manager onsite to speak with about this issue on a Saturday evening, and we were informed she would not return until Monday. Contacting Hilton corporate also got nowhere, as they would try to contact the hotel and either get placed on hold for a long time or they were hung up on. They did not have the ability to move us to a different Hilton property in the area. Any action that could be taken was solely up to the general manager, who was unreachable until after our stay was over. Our plans were ruined because we could not shower after a long day of being outside or use the restroom that we were paying for. Additionally, the noise level in this hotel is ridiculous. Being unable to sleep, use the restroom, or shower defeats the three main purposes of staying in a hotel. Immediately upon entering, there is a sign highlighting the entertainment district in which the hotel is located, but it also calls to attention the noise - the hotel offers earplugs and sound machines to try and combat it, but they still can’t drown it all out. Absolutely do not stay here if you’re looking for a peaceful night’s sleep. The rooms were dusty and it was very strange how the coffee maker was located in the bathroom. This hotel is extremely poorly run and Hilton should be ashamed to have this property represent them. We were ultimately issued a refund for the problems we experienced, but it was a huge hassle to reach that point. As a 24-hour business, there should be a manager available on the weekends who has the ability to...
