I am a member and flew in from Kansas City with my friend for my son's wedding he had arranged to have in Tacoma. He lives in Vancouver, Washington. I told my friend I would get the hotel since it was close by and we were going to go to Mt. Rainier on Monday morning. Told her they were suppose to have a great breakfast which they showed on their site and one of the main breakfast items were the biscuits and gravy. When we arrived you could tell it was a little run down compared to the other hotels we had seen. I checked in I asked about the breakfast and what they had which sounded okay but she didn't mention the biscuits and gravy so I asked. She said no they hadn't had them for a while. So that was the first issue but since I had prepaid I just moved on. We went to go to the room and at the side door where you go in to go to your room there were people outside the side door smoking a lot the whole 2 days we were there. You would think they would at least not be by the door so close. The elevator was very creaky but it made it to our floor. We noticed that the floor under the carpet was lumpy and my friend mentioned it and I was already feeling bad but it was too late to try to find another hotel so onward we went to the room. The room at first didn't look too bad It was a very small bathroom until she went to close the curtain and said, " Oh my god these are filthy" and I tried to play it down and told her not to worry about it we were only going to be there a couple of days and wouldn't be in the room that much. So we settled down for the night and went to turn the TV on and it wouldn't come on. I thought oh no what's next. Called down to the desk and the nice young lady came up and had to turn it on from the buttons on the side of the TV and set it all up. She told us what to do and we were doing fine until we try to turn it down and the volume wouldn't work. I by then was going to scream but still held my cool and I got up and had to adjust it from the side of the TV instead of the remote. Next morning we get up and go to breakfast which was okay but nothing we could do since we were basically stuck there. We both don't eat cold breakfast. Left and headed to Mt. Rainier and was gone until around 6pm. We then looked for a place to go eat dinner and came back to rest and enjoy watching some TV. You aren't going to believe it. The TV would not work again. I literally wanted to cry but the worse was yet to come. Try to call down to the desk several times and no answer rang and rang. So in my pj's I walked down there and there he sat in a chair in the corner and I just wanted to scream. I told him I had been trying to call for a few mins and nobody answered the phone. I had only wished that young lady would of been there because she was the best thing about that hotel. Anyway I told him I was very upset that nobody answered the phone and had to walk down there and he knew I was and said follow me. We went up to the room and he had to also mess with the side of the TV but got it going. Finally we go to sleep and get up to go to the bathroom and no power. nothing like trying to go to the bathroom in that small bathroom in the dark. She was still asleep and I was hoping it would come on before she found out but no such luck. She said laughing did they pay their light bill because most hotels have a generator if something like that happens. Since the phone wouldn't work I headed to the front desk and that idiot (sorry) was again sitting on his chair in the corner and I asked what was going on and he said it was just the hotel because you could see the lights across the street on and since he didn't speak that good of English it was hard to understand what he was saying. I asked if he called somebody and then thank God again that young lady walked in since it was time for her shift and she was shocked also that there was no power. She got on the phone and talked to them and they told her it was only 3-4 building and that they thought it was going to be back on by 5:30am but it wasn't. It had been off for several hours. They were working on it. We needed to take a shower before heading back to the Seatac airport for our flight home and to return the rental car. We had to be at the airport by 8:00am so no shower, no breakfast and not even being able to put some makeup on. Opening the curtain didn't do crap. So we packed and as we were about to leave the lights came on and we ran for the breakfast room and grabbed a bite and out the door. We were late at the airport and had to rush to get to our flight. I have to say I have stayed in so many hotels over the years and never had so MANY things happen at one hotel. In fact as we were in the elevator coming down another lady came in and it was right after the power came on and she said to us "what a dump".I was so embarrass since I selected this hotel mainly for the buffet style breakfast and so many things went wrong. From the pictures the hotel didn't look bad in fact I cancelled another one I had at Larkspur up the street to get this one....
Read moreTraveling with a crew of guys for work and decided to stay at this location. This place isn't the worst when it comes to the rooms, but could definitely use some updating throughout. We stayed in king rooms for a night, then upgraded to king suites with kitchenettes, and i booked those for a week. I paid for all 5 rooms for a week. I later looked at my bank acct and it was almost double the charges. This was my first encounter with the manager. In speaking he explained that the charges were pre authorizations, and that they would come off, I understand this part, because I travel ALOT. This is still very frustrating though, because it generally ties that money up for 3-5 business days. So my original cost for the week was suppose to be 3500, I was charged an extra 3200 in preauthorizations, that puts me at almost 7k, for a 3500 charge! I was told by manager that this would not happen again, and that I wouldn't get anymore preauthorizations on my acct. This was on Thursday. Today I wake up and there is another 450 charge on my acct. I go down to front desk and ask what is going on. While down talking another 115 was tied up. I NEVER authorized any charges this day, i hadnt even been to the front desk for 2 days. So now with taxes I have near 8k tied up, and I'm very unpleased, and ask to speak with manager. He was not onsite, but was called and started to look into it. He returned with an answer that I didn't understand, and didn't feel satisfied with the " sorry " I got. The manager was very clear when he told me that " it wouldn't happen again ", the first time it happened, now I'm hearing sorry it wont happen again. I told mgmt that I was not happy with that, and to put himself in my shoes, I was asked, what would you like me to do? There is nothing else I can do for you. These are TERRIBLE responses in my opinion. Do something! I shouldn't have to try to come up with ways to make it right, it's not my job. Im a customer that feels robbed. I would definitely steer clear of this place. I would hope that this manager gets the training he needs to be able to make better decisions, and learn how to treat customers properly. Stay at your own risk. It wouldn't be right if I didn't update, that property manager made updates to acct, and put credits toward my extension of rooms. I happy with end...
Read moreI cannot praise this hotel enough for its exceptional management and staff. Vikram, the hotel manager, is one of the kindest people you could ever meet. He goes above and beyond to ensure that every guest has an incredible stay. His team works tirelessly around the clock to meet every need, and their dedication shines through in every interaction.
Despite what some negative reviews might suggest, this hotel is a gem. Those reviews often come from people who are habitual complainers, not from those who truly appreciate the value and effort provided here. I understand this firsthand, having experienced homelessness while chasing my dreams. A friend recommended this place, and it turned out to be the perfect stopgap while waiting to move into my condo in Bellevue.
The Clarion may not be a five-star hotel, but it offers all the amenities needed for a comfortable and restful stay. I've stayed at top hotels across the United States, and while many hotel managers tend to be indifferent, Vikram's genuine kindness stands out. His unparalleled hospitality creates a welcoming atmosphere that high-end hotels often lack.
The staff at this hotel are remarkable. They will do everything in their power to make sure you have what you need at all times. Although the hotel could use some upgrades, the current condition is more than acceptable, especially considering the improvements planned for the near future. A one- or two-night stay doesn't do justice to the experience this hotel provides. I've been here for over 45 days and can confidently say it is the best location for the price.
The convenience of having a full kitchen and microwave, proximity to the airport, Amtrak station, and the Tukwila Shopping Mall, along with easy access to top attractions like the Fortune Casinos, make this place ideal. For those struggling financially, this hotel offers a fresh start and treats everyone with equal respect. Families with children receive special attention during breakfast, ensuring their needs are met.
Even with financial stability and a successful career, I found this hotel to be a great value compared to pricier alternatives. My stay here has been nothing short of wonderful, and I am grateful for the opportunity to experience such exceptional hospitality. I would choose to stay here again...
