This hotel has a great location literally right next door to the blue line T (Wonderland) stop and has great views of the ocean, however that is the only thing that I loved about this hotel.
When I got out of my vehicle I walked inside from the portico only to be confused because it wasn’t the lobby. I saw a room with elevators, doors and a round sofa. No big signs saying anything about the hotel or lobby. I went back outside and climbed the big flight of steps to find the hotel lobby. I later found a tiny sign after stating the hotel lobby floor number. I would suggest a much larger sign as some people might not be able to climb that flight of stairs. It was just the most confusing entrance I have ever experienced. I could only imagine how an older person would try to navigate this as well.
The girl checking me in was nice and pleasant, but the other workers I encountered seemed annoyed and acted like they would rather not be working.
My hotel room looked nice at first glance but after settling in we had multiple issues. I had to call down to the front desk because we didn’t have any towels (only a hand towel). It took 30-40 minutes to bring them to our room. Sadly, I hadn’t noticed that we needed a bedding set for the pull out sofa bed. I had to call down again. This time it took them a solid 40 minutes to bring them to us and I had to call and remind them after 30 minutes of waiting! After they delivered it we then realized that the sofa bed was broken! The metal was bent and the bed was leaning in towards the back part of the couch where you would put your head. I called down and the girl seemed like I was interrupting her evening. She said the maintenance guy would get there when he could. At this point we had already waited over an hour for towels and bedding and we wanted to get to bed. It was already after 10:15 pm! He ended up getting there in about 5 minutes but proceeded to tell my husband that it wasn’t broken although he did admit that the metal was bent. He said that all his sofa beds were like this and nothing could be done. He mentioned changing rooms but we didn’t want to do that at 10:30 at night with kids, and he wasn’t even sure if there was one available. So we just put the sofa back together. One child slept on the couch and the other on the floor…so much for paying for something you can’t use! I didn’t want my kids to pinch or even lose a finger on the broken metal!
Other issues with our room include: the usb port broken on the nightstand, the reading light above the bed was also not working, the curtains either had blood or food on them. Issues in the bathroom: the lock would not turn so you couldn’t lock it, the sink faucet wiggled and was very loose, absolutely NO conditioner in the shower. These are regular bottles attached to the wall so someone has not checked them in a very long time, plus they only left us 1 hand towel!
Breakfast was not bad if you could get food! This is a larger hotel and they should have a bigger breakfast area for food (seating was okay). It was the same size as you would find at a smaller hotel. So this meant that they ran out of food pretty much as soon as it was brought out. I watched them take over 15 minutes to replace muffins and they never replaced granola bars on another day while I was watching. It almost seemed like things were brought out paced on time and not based on need. There was pretty much a constant line of people trying to get food. The button on the toaster was broken so you would have to push down on the metal which gets very hot. I mean if they can’t replace a broken household style toaster that should tell you how much they care about their hotel.
It’s really too bad that they don’t take better care or have higher quality items because it would be an excellent hotel. I would not recommend it based on...
Read moreUnfortunately, multiple aspects of our stay fell far short of expectations. We would not stay at this hotel again, nor recommend it to anyone. Below are the issues we had during our stay.
When we arrived and walked to the front desk to check in, a manager was working and talking on a cell phone. He let out a heavy, exaggerated sigh and told the person on the phone he'd have to call them back. He was very rude and short with us. There were three of us staying, and all of us were standing there. He only gave us two key cards. I asked for a third so each person could have one, and he got an attitude about it. I can't believe anyone in the hospitality industry would act this was, especially a manager.
The room was clean, but we had a few issues during our stay. The AC didn't work, so it was very warm in the room, especially overnight. Despite booking a two queen room with a sofa bed, it only had two queen beds. It wasn't a big deal for us to share a bed, but it wasn't what we booked and could be an issue for other groups. I don't know what was above our room, but two of the four nights, we could hear what sounded like chairs being drug across the floor at 4:30 am. This lasted for about 30 minutes both times.
One major issue we had was with housekeeping. One morning we went to the front desk and asked for towels. When we returned that night, there were no towels. I submitted a request via the Marriott app hoping I'd have better luck receiving towels that way. Since it was late, I thought they'd bring the towels the next day. It was after 10:00 pm, and we were all in bed. I was the only one awake, the others were sleeping, but the TV was on. I heard a knock and got up to answer. Before I even got to the door, a housekeeper opened the door and came in with towels. I couldn't believe a housekeeper would let herself in after 10:00 pm. She also didn't announce that she was housekeeping. I wonder what her plan was to do with the towels had I not been standing there. What if someone in our group was naked or having sex. The next morning we went to the front desk and asked to speak to a manager. The front desk woman was polite and called for the housekeeping supervisor and told us it would be 5 minutes. After waiting for 15 minutes, we told her we needed to get going, but we didn't want anyone else entering our room during our stay. On the last day, we needed more towels and toilet paper, so I requested them via the app in the morning. We were there for a couple hours before taking off, and no one from housekeeping came in that time frame. When we returned that evening, there were sheets placed in the room, but not towels or toilet paper. So not only did someone enter after we made it very clear we didn't want anyone else in there due to the huge violation of privacy, but they didn't even bring what we requested.
The room isn't designed well for a group. The bathroom is directly across from both beds and has a frosted glass door. So you can somewhat see through it. Not only is it a lack of privacy for whoever is in the bathroom, but if you need to use the bestroom while others are sleeping, you have to go in the dark or turn the light on and wake others up. The TV was also placed in a weird spot. It was far from the beds, across from the desk. So you couldn't see it well from the beds, but there wasn't a space to sit and watch the TV where it was actually placed.
This was one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. I would never recommend anyone stay here, nor would I...
Read moreThe beach view is absolutely beautiful and it is conveniently located next to a T stop. Those are the only positives I have about this hotel. The service was HORRIBLE! I called at 1pm asking if we arrived in an hour would we be able to check in because we had to return our rental car. I was told yes, it wouldn’t be a problem. We showed up 1hour 15 minutes later and I was rudely told the room wasn’t ready. I explained I had called and we needed to return the rental car and asked them to hold our luggage. She said she’d put it all on a cart and store it for us. When we returned one of the two elevators was broken. Since we had just been there my cousin told the women at the front desk that it appeared to be broken. Her response, “it’s broken and there is nothing we can do about it.” I checked right after a woman with a bus group. When I told the be woman at the front desk that she had our belongings she told me she doesn’t have our stuff. she said we don’t handle luggage unless you’re with a bus group. I tried to explain and she rudely interrupted me and told me again they didn’t have our stuff. I had to sternly explain what had happened and that the previous employee put our stuff on a cart. Her response well we needed the cart but we have your stuff. I checked in and wasn’t provided with any information other than my room number. Later that evening we asked where the stairs were located because there was only one elevator for the entire hotel and restaurant. The same woman who checked us in said she didn’t know???? We had to search the hotel for the laundry because there was no information in the room, on the TV or provided to us. When we called to book the airport shuttle we were literally told, “ called back tomorrow so we don’t lose the paperwork. Unbelievable! We had booked a two queen with a roll out couch room because it was three adults traveling. There was a housekeeper in the room next to ours and I asked nicely when she had a chance could she bring us stuff for couch.. the woman rolled her eyes at me! She came a few minutes later with a top and bottom sheet, and the cover for a duvet. When we rolled out the couch there was a sock folded into the bed. The shower leaked! The next morning I attempted to reserve the shuttle again. When I asked for it at 4:30 I was told we only do it on the hour. However, that is not written anywhere… website says 24/7 and outside the hours of 6am to xxx you need to make a reservation. This information would been helpful to know before that morning. Later that morning I found a paper at the front desk with hotel information. This was never given to us and it was not on the counter when I checked in. When reading it later it stated we needed to give 24 hour notice for housekeeping services. We stayed two nights so we would never be able to provide 24 hours notice of needing service. We called the front desk on Sunday evening asking for new towels and a blanket, since we had to use multiple towels for the shower leak and froze the night before with only a sheet for the rollout couch. It took over two hours for the towels and blanket to show up. When we went to take the shuttle early Monday morning they had messed up the number of guests in our party. Thank goodness we were the only ones taking the shuttle that early. The shuttle driver was amazing! At $400 per night and part of Marriott I expected so much more. We had stayed on three other hotels that same trip and had excellent service. To say we were disappointed is an...
