1 star specifically for the host and one of servers’ behavior/attitude.
The 5 stars only go to the small, wavy blonde hair server who took really good care of me after I got seated.
Food was great, fresh, tasty, high quality!Five star all the way for the food! Lots of wine options except no Moscato, little disappointed but that’s understandable I went with Vinnicombe Riesling German instead which was not a bad choice at all. Atmosphere/the view was amazing, ocean view dinner vibe. Where the 1 star came from you may asked. When I entered the restaurant, I told the host that I want to sit at the table outside and it’s just me, party of 1. The host, who is the first point of contact, the first impression of the 5 star restaurant completely failed. Not friendly, not smiling, not very welcoming. After I told her my request to sit outside, she told me to wait a moment then went to ask what looked like to be the manager. Let me explain little more, all outdoor seatings were set up neatly and 100% empty when I got there. I was thinking to myself while waiting to get seated or maybe those tables were all reserved and if it’s not available I’ll just leave because I really want to sit with the view as I am not from around here and it’s not like I can come back tomorrow to dine in again. Then the host finally came back after good 2-3 minutes and walked me to the outdoor seatings area. Out of maybe 15 empty tables, she decided to sit me at the table by the door where the door keeps on opening and closing. Then she said “just this table right here ok!” with an attitude. No sense of hospitality at all whatsoever. I was about to leave at that point but I really want to enjoy the twilight, food and dessert so I was like whatever, let’s just ignore. My server, I don’t remember her name, small with wavy blonde hair helped my dinner felt less awkward. She was attentive, smile a lot, and knowledgeable about the wine options. The food came out in timely manner and perfect timing between the appetizer and the entree. I asked for extra sauce for my calamari as the meal arrived and informed my server to keep the calamari on the table as I still want to finish up my calamari later. As I finished my salmon, sat back for couple minutes, a new server came and took my “not finished” calamari plate away without asking. Dear Dryft, I felt like your food and atmosphere is 5 stars all the way but your FOH team still needs improvement. It’s Tuesday evening, with party of 1, from the time I seated around 6:30 pm to almost 8 pm when I finished, outdoor seatings were 80% empty… Dryft closed at 10 pm, absolutely no need to rush to take the food away from the guest without asking. It’s not even that busy to cause to host to have an unwelcoming attitude. Party of 1, I paid over $100, wine, appetizer, meal, dessert. I think next time I will spend it elsewhere. I don’t mind the prices but what I do mind is if the overall quality of the restaurant match the price I paid. In this case, the food and atmosphere matched the price I paid but not...

This time around I had the swordfish steak and someone in our ground the brick chicken - both exceptional! We did feel a bit rushed - it was a Saturday night but still... If that's the only thing I can complain about it's a non factor.
Where to start... This was not a destination but rather my wife and I stumbled upon this serendipitous find while we were walking Revere beach; which has gone through a major transformation since our last visit almost 3 years ago.
The menu is inspired by classic dishes - "brick" chicken, swordfish steak, grilled salmon and even a hamburger - that are then transformed into new and exciting creations by combining these classics with flavors and textures that accent and compliment.
Of course, we sat at the bar, the bartenders were friendly if not too knowledgeable in how to present and serve wine (in fairness, I don't think they serve many bottles, probably more by the glass). We started off by sharing the potato gnocchi and wild mushroom plate that we split as an appetizer. The gnocchi where light and perfectly cooked while the white wine and wild mushroom sauce was perfectly seasoned; the dollop of ricotta served on top was a perfect add. I was going to try the octopus but $24 for an appetizer that My wife would not eat seemed a bit much - when we come back with my daughters we will definitely try it. My wife ordered the grilled salmon entree; it was served with their shrimp "fried rice", each was a meal in it self and the combination was perfect. I ordered the swardfish steak that came on a roasted head or romaine lettuce with seasonal baby vegetables and an herb aoli. The flavors exploded and again the combination was perfect. For desert we shared the bread pudding and like the meal itself, this was a classic that did not disappoint.
Their wine list is broad and ranges in price from affordable to not so much. The majority of the selections are Californian but they do offer some French in the form of a Chateauneuf du Pape and a Bordeaux for reds and a Sancere and Puille Fuise for whites and of course your prerequisite Malbec from Argentina. We chose the Puille at $64 a bottle with no surprises.
We will definitely be making more trips to this establishment in the near future.
**Our second visit and this place is still great! This time we shared the Shrimp Limoncello - delicious! I had the haddock with potato salad, spinach served with a spicy remoulade - YUMMO. My wife had the salmon again, still perfect. Next time it's the grilled octopus for me! Still an impressive wine list.
They are scheduled to open a second location in Wellesley - we...
Read moreOhhhhhhkayyyyyy!!!! Now my experience at this place was a disaster... First... I was vacationing near by with my family and were told this was a great place to go... WRONG!!!!... for starters prior to arraving to Dryft I had decided to call ahead to see if there was space for my party of 6... Now here's where things started to get"rocky" when I finally reached someone after calling 2 times before... I had asked if there would be room for my party as I stated earlier... They told me noo there isn't any room and they couldn't hold my reservation... Now I don't know why but it seemed off... I then got my mother to call and they told her a totally different thing saying there was now room ECT ECT.... Upon arrival we were greeted by around 5 people on the staff starring at our party like snakes about to pounce on it's prey. One of us went up to ask to be seated but because of the team of intimidating staff asked if there was a problem and why ALL 5 people were standing at the front of this restaurant scanning our party with judgemental eyes. We were told that they were trying to gage how big the group was...I'm pretty sure it doesn't take 5 people to sit us. That must have shaken them a little bit because the group dispersed a bit after that but there was still 3 ladies who asked how large our group was and if we had a reservation we said no. They communicated that they would need to check for seats although we had called before hand and stated we wouldn't need reservations AND that you could clearly see that there were available seats by looking through the windows. We agreed to wait for a seat. We were then told that we all had to sanitize our hands because it was protocol, which isn't an issue BUT then the next three parties to arrive and head into the restaurant were not asked to do the same. We continued to wait. It wasn't until the very nice manager, who we didn't know was the manager at the time, asked the ladies outside how big our party was and he went right inside to seat us no problem. If he hadn't have come out I'm sure we would've been waiting an eternity. The food was delicious and the service was great. When the manager approached us to see how our meal was, we expresses our concerns and he was attentive, receptive and seemed to be genuinely concerned that we felt so uncomfortable in his establishment, which we appreciated. He even went the extra mile and comped two desserts for us. That was even delicious and we almost ate everything until we found a huge hair in the tarimisu. It's crazy because before all of this we thought the food was pretty good... Unfortunately we will never be visiting this...
