I’ve stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Richardson for over two weeks now and I have been more than impressed! It is clean and quiet and perfect for families or business travel. The hotel staff has gone above and beyond in many ways, from moving an extra lamp to my room, to helping fix my broken glasses, and by provide an unending supply of Keurig KCups for the in-room coffeemaker! The staff’s exceptionally friendly service, the clean comfortable rooms, and the many extra amenities make this hotel stand out and it deserves an even higher star rating!
Hotel staff: Can’t be beat! They have been supportive to me during a difficult time in more ways than anyone could expect. The sweet maid is always friendly and smiling and stops by every day even if I don’t need service. She brings extra coffee, makes sure my trash cans are emptied and that I have toiletries and plenty of towels. The manager and maintenance have provided anything extra I needed, including a toothbrush, toothpaste, and mouthwash, an extra lamp and ice bucket for my room, and of course plenty of coffee (did I mention the coffee?)! The front office staff are consistently friendly and smiling, and always greet me by name, no matter how busy the hotel is. Recently they had a cheerleader convention and baseball tournament in town, and they managed these large groups impressively! I didn’t hear a single complaint from any of the guests! 24-hour security is constantly present, and I felt very safe working at night, going for ice or to vending machines, and taking smoke breaks outside at all hours (even outside smoking area was designated and well-lit).
Rooms: Spacious, cozy, quiet, and very clean rooms, extremely comfortable beds, fast and consistent free wifi internet, large well-lit desk work area perfect for business travelers, large bathroom with toiletries and extras available, perfect temperature control, mini refrigerator, microwave, plenty of TV channels and free HBO, lots of storage space.
Many amenities: local shuttle, indoor pool, delicious food from affordable restaurant that serves hot breakfast (kids eat free), and room service is always hot too! Free laundry facilities 24/7, business center off lobby always available 24/7 with desktop and free printing, sundry gift shop in lobby, conference rooms, outdoor pool, 24-hour gym workout facilities. Local shuttle was extremely useful. Although the DART station is close it was much quicker and convenient to use the shuttle. They took me to a grocery store, a pharmacy, and to get a haircut, and back.
I highly recommend this hotel for both families and business travelers! Often discounted rates can be found, but even at full price this hotel is worth the...
Read moreI have stayed at plenty hotels and this is the far worst I have ever stayed. Everything started off bad from check in to check out. Check in is at 3:00 and we arrived at 4:30 and our rooms were still not ready I didn't complain at all, we had reserved 8 rooms and the last room was not ready till 5:30 and the another room still didn't have pillow cases. At the time of reservation I made sure our breakfast was included in every room. I called the Monday before and the Thursday before just to confirm everything was still good. I had asked for connected rooms and they confirmed with me that all breakfast was included and that we were getting the connected rooms requested. We did not get connected rooms and in the morning when part of our group was going to breakfast they were told they had to pay $11.99 each, I went down to talk with a manager and was there for about 30mins till she decided to give the breakfast cause someone in her staff had messed everything up, I made sure we were having breakfast the next morning and she said yes. That night when our group came back from the outing we had gone to from 9:30am - returned at 12:30am the key to one of the rooms had been deactivated, I was in the shower and my husband said they will not give the girls a new card till you down. I had to go down and the front desk person wanted me to write everyone's name that was staying in our group @ 1am. I had told her this should have been done at check-in not at 1 o'clock in the morning. The next morning we had another issue with breakfast and at check out. Since we were a church group we did not have to pay taxes and all the forms were given to them at time of check in when we get our receipt the morning we check out we were getting charged the taxes. I went to the receptionist to see why this was on our receipts after I had given them the forms her response was "Then why are they charging?" I then told I was not sure that is why I was asking her. When she looked in some binder they had none of our forms that I had given at check-in then that was a whole process again just to check out. It was the worst experience ever, I would not recommend this hotel to no one. They need to get it together. Every time I asked to speak with a manager I was told that they did not have one on site cause she had to go to a different location. Just like the other comments the rooms are not up to date don't let the...
Read moreFirst, Holiday Inn and HI Express are very different it seems. We have stayed at several Holiday In Express location and always had a great stay at a good price. At arrival there were people outside the hotel yelling and arguing, probably just a mad couple, but not a good first impression, we then noticed lobby smelled musty like an old mop. After a friendly check-in, we went to our room, but as soon as I opened the door, a strong wave of sweat and body odor came out of the room. We did not even enter the room. I was given a new room with no issues. The second room was not exactly fresh but at least not disgustingly smelly. Later, kids wanted to take a dip in the pool after a long day walking around Houston, but the pool was murky, had a visible film and had lots of dirt and a few bugs floating...we did not let the kids go in (still cringe thinking one of them almost jumped in). Back at our room, we opened the shades to take a look outside and found the windows covered in white gunk that looked like plaster. We immediately closed the blinds. At this point we were too tired to move to another room and decided to just go to sleep since we would be checking out early the next morning. At breakfast, we learned the hard way that Holiday Inn does not offer free breakfast and that this is only offered at their Express properties, however the breakfast was very good and the kitchen staff were excellent I brought all these problems to the manager and someone I think was the assistant. Although I understand they want to defend their hotel, telling a guest they should have read the site when asking about the breakfast and telling then saying "no holiday inns at all offer breakfast"--(found out about the Express different from an online forum.)
At the end I was not charged for breakfast because of the other problems, which was something, but definitely did not make up for the worst stay at a Holiday Inn, Express or any kind. Short version, smelly rooms, dirty windows, disgusting pool, additional fees for breakfast = bad experience and bad value on this stay. I may think twice even of our usual Holiday Inn...
