Unpleasant smell upon entering the hotel. The The Asian lady that checked us in was nice but I didn't get her name. I'm happy she was there to check us in right before she left at 3. The other guy Muhammad was horrible. A few hours after checking in I sent my son down to get a set of sheets. Muhammad was very rude. He called my room & said that I wasn't checked in, he couldn't find me , I needed to get to the front desk & bring him my ID. I explained to him that the other lady checked me in, took my ID & credit card. The room was also already paid for in advance. He shouldn't be working at the front desk. He gave my son one sheet that looked like it was stepped on & was so worn out you could clearly see through it. My son went back down to exchange it. He claimed that he only had one sheet left. It looked like the first sheet that was unacceptable. These sheets were not the same quality as the sheets on the bed. They looked like they were taken out of the garbage. They weren't even good enough for goodwill. This is not a nicer Holiday Inn. It needs a lot of updating to make it feel more modern. I haven't seen a chain on a hotel door in forever. The mattress felt like I was in quicksand. So uncomfortable. It got cold overnight & the heat smelled like urine & didn't properly warm up the room. The tub & sink kept backing up with water. The microwave plate has a broken plastic piece underneath it that makes it spin. The TV was too loud overnight but I couldn't turn it down. The lowest was at 15 & that wasn't low enough. In the morning the housekeepers stayed outside of my room door making noise. They were very loud & inconsiderate. Not thinking about the guests they could be disturbing.

My basic needs were met. Breakfast is overly expensive for fake food products. $14.95 for a $2 meal. However it was free and included with my room. However in poor fashion. My room has a musty mildew smell and my room is so humid that it’s palpable. It collects on my clothes and sheets. Room was overall clean upon checkin. My coffee maker stopped working. USB ports by the phone are broken and don’t work. Shower drain is clogged even after a maintenance guy came and attempted to PLUNGER it… I showed him the proper tool and he never came back. The sink counter is cracked in two places. TP dispenser in a bad location for a handicap room. NO HOLY BIBLE IN MY ROOM!? Disappointing… wardrobe partially blocks the A/C unit. Dim lighting. A/C is loud and always on because it needs to be on. Temp settings DO work. My sheets were damp/wet the entire stay… towel rack over the toilet is falling out of the wall and the light over the vanity is crooked…. Not impressed with this hotel at all. Service offered to change my room after I presented my concerns. I declined. I only had one more day to go. Total stay was 5 days.$75 a night. If all this was fixed I’d pay $135 a night no problem. Service here was excellent though. Minus the maintenance guy who was all smiles didn’t know what he was doing. Just needs a little more training with the right tools.

I checked into my on the 27th. The first room I entered, the refrigerator didn't work and the 2nd room I entered, had a malfunction with the blinds, once pulled up it wouldn't come down. I settled in room #3 My experience worsened on checkout. I was told that a $100 deposit would be taken during checkin and released 3-5 business days after. " Well after 1 week, I called in for an update only to be told that they didn't have any sign of my reservation, and there was nothing showing I stayed there at all, only an experied reservation, regardless of the fact that I had receipts, and a pending $100 charge... I had to drive back to location, in attempt to speak with one associate who couldn't fully assist me, although she gave the best effort. I had to wait for a shift change past 11pm to speak with a manager, only then to be told, I have to wait 30 days before I receive my deposit back.... do with this information what you will.

I’ve stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Richardson for over two weeks now and I have been more than impressed! It is clean and quiet and perfect for families or business travel. The hotel staff has gone above and beyond in many ways, from moving an extra lamp to my room, to helping fix my broken glasses, and by provide an unending supply of Keurig KCups for the in-room coffeemaker! The staff’s exceptionally friendly service, the clean comfortable rooms, and the many extra amenities make this hotel stand out and it deserves an even higher star rating!

Hotel staff: Can’t be beat! They have been supportive to me during a difficult time in more ways than anyone could expect. The sweet maid is always friendly and smiling and stops by every day even if I don’t need service. She brings extra coffee, makes sure my trash cans are emptied and that I have toiletries and plenty of towels. The manager and maintenance have provided anything extra I needed, including a toothbrush, toothpaste, and mouthwash, an extra lamp and ice bucket for my room, and of course plenty of coffee (did I mention the coffee?)! The front office staff are consistently friendly and smiling, and always greet me by name, no matter how busy the hotel is. Recently they had a cheerleader convention and baseball tournament in town, and they managed these large groups impressively! I didn’t hear a single complaint from any of the guests! 24-hour security is constantly present, and I felt very safe working at night, going for ice or to vending machines, and taking smoke breaks outside at all hours (even outside smoking area was designated and well-lit).

Rooms: Spacious, cozy, quiet, and very clean rooms, extremely comfortable beds, fast and consistent free wifi internet, large well-lit desk work area perfect for business travelers, large bathroom with toiletries and extras available, perfect temperature control, mini refrigerator, microwave, plenty of TV channels and free HBO, lots of storage space.

Many amenities: local shuttle, indoor pool, delicious food from affordable restaurant that serves hot breakfast (kids eat free), and room service is always hot too! Free laundry facilities 24/7, business center off lobby always available 24/7 with desktop and free printing, sundry gift shop in lobby, conference rooms, outdoor pool, 24-hour gym workout facilities. Local shuttle was extremely useful. Although the DART station is close it was much quicker and convenient to use the shuttle. They took me to a grocery store, a pharmacy, and to get a haircut, and back.

I highly recommend this hotel for both families and business travelers! Often discounted rates can be found, but even at full price this hotel is worth the...

I have stayed at plenty hotels and this is the far worst I have ever stayed. Everything started off bad from check in to check out. Check in is at 3:00 and we arrived at 4:30 and our rooms were still not ready I didn't complain at all, we had reserved 8 rooms and the last room was not ready till 5:30 and the another room still didn't have pillow cases. At the time of reservation I made sure our breakfast was included in every room. I called the Monday before and the Thursday before just to confirm everything was still good. I had asked for connected rooms and they confirmed with me that all breakfast was included and that we were getting the connected rooms requested. We did not get connected rooms and in the morning when part of our group was going to breakfast they were told they had to pay $11.99 each, I went down to talk with a manager and was there for about 30mins till she decided to give the breakfast cause someone in her staff had messed everything up, I made sure we were having breakfast the next morning and she said yes. That night when our group came back from the outing we had gone to from 9:30am - returned at 12:30am the key to one of the rooms had been deactivated, I was in the shower and my husband said they will not give the girls a new card till you down. I had to go down and the front desk person wanted me to write everyone's name that was staying in our group @ 1am. I had told her this should have been done at check-in not at 1 o'clock in the morning. The next morning we had another issue with breakfast and at check out. Since we were a church group we did not have to pay taxes and all the forms were given to them at time of check in when we get our receipt the morning we check out we were getting charged the taxes. I went to the receptionist to see why this was on our receipts after I had given them the forms her response was "Then why are they charging?" I then told I was not sure that is why I was asking her. When she looked in some binder they had none of our forms that I had given at check-in then that was a whole process again just to check out. It was the worst experience ever, I would not recommend this hotel to no one. They need to get it together. Every time I asked to speak with a manager I was told that they did not have one on site cause she had to go to a different location. Just like the other comments the rooms are not up to date don't let the...

First, Holiday Inn and HI Express are very different it seems. We have stayed at several Holiday In Express location and always had a great stay at a good price. At arrival there were people outside the hotel yelling and arguing, probably just a mad couple, but not a good first impression, we then noticed lobby smelled musty like an old mop. After a friendly check-in, we went to our room, but as soon as I opened the door, a strong wave of sweat and body odor came out of the room. We did not even enter the room. I was given a new room with no issues. The second room was not exactly fresh but at least not disgustingly smelly. Later, kids wanted to take a dip in the pool after a long day walking around Houston, but the pool was murky, had a visible film and had lots of dirt and a few bugs floating...we did not let the kids go in (still cringe thinking one of them almost jumped in). Back at our room, we opened the shades to take a look outside and found the windows covered in white gunk that looked like plaster. We immediately closed the blinds. At this point we were too tired to move to another room and decided to just go to sleep since we would be checking out early the next morning. At breakfast, we learned the hard way that Holiday Inn does not offer free breakfast and that this is only offered at their Express properties, however the breakfast was very good and the kitchen staff were excellent I brought all these problems to the manager and someone I think was the assistant. Although I understand they want to defend their hotel, telling a guest they should have read the site when asking about the breakfast and telling then saying "no holiday inns at all offer breakfast"--(found out about the Express different from an online forum.)

At the end I was not charged for breakfast because of the other problems, which was something, but definitely did not make up for the worst stay at a Holiday Inn, Express or any kind. Short version, smelly rooms, dirty windows, disgusting pool, additional fees for breakfast = bad experience and bad value on this stay. I may think twice even of our usual Holiday Inn...
