First off, there are lots of other Indian and Pakistani restaurants in the Dallas, Carrolton, and Plano area to chose from - this one ain't it. So many people saying how they liked the flavor and taste of the food. Did we seriously eat the same thing? I really don't think you guys know how some of these dishes are supposed to taste. Vegetarian samosas were way oversalted. Chicken tikka masala is SO sweet, like SO sweet. Chicken tikka masala is not supposed to be that way, yet so many Indian restaurants make it incredibly sweet. Way too much heavy cream. They mind as well have just dumped a cup of sugar in there too while they made it. Malai kofta was okay - nothing special. Again, It was also sweet with medium spice. Garlic naan had more carrot on it than garlic. On TOP of that, I ordered within 30 minutes of the restaurant opening up in the evening, and I waited over 1 hour and 30 minutes for my order. I went through 3 uber drivers until the last one stuck around and waited about 30 minutes for it, since it was so delayed. I have leftovers and honestly don't even want it. The dishes need work. Also have been coughing ever since eating the food, probably from the oversalted and oversweet dishes.

Good experience for the two distinctive customer segments (whose gastronomic interests are seldom congruent) this place purports to serve. Balanced menu with fresh preparations which cover the key bases of North Indian cuisine. The lunch buffet stand was always kept loaded (and clean) with attentive supervision. Empty plates at the table are whisked away without request leaving one to enjoy one's food without casting a glance at how many plates have used thus far. The buffet items are mostly standard fare with a nominal twist or two. Well planned "workflow" for the limited space of the buffet queue. Of course only regular diners (not yours truly) can comment on the changes between succeeding days. Not the least bit surprised that there was no seafood being offered because even though fish is cheaper than chicken or mutton (May 2022) these days, the thought to serve a "Pescadores" Item does not enter the minds of management. Although conversations float around the bi-level dining area, the place could not be called noisy. One can dine peacefully if necessary. Seating options based on the size of the group are readily made available.

I’ve only tried the chicken tikka masala , the naan and the goat biryani, so those are only what I can rate. The chicken tikka masala is so similar to butter chicken and I love it here! I’d go here or to indopak specifically for a buttery savory dish like butter chicken or tikka masala thus far. Their biryani is a little too flavorful in the sense that all their rice is coated with a flavoring and they put egg and onions (which is fine, I prefer my biryani without eggs) and give you lime (seems to be a common occurrence, which I like) I’m not saying it’s bad tasting it’s above average. I still prefer wild mirchi Indian grills biryani bec it’s not as saturated as theirs and it has more variety of flavor as far as spices go and that’s one thing that I feel really makes it special is the herbs. They give a white liquid sauce/dip, Idk the name and I never really use but it doesn’t taste bad. If you have any suggestions for very flavorful and spice filled Indian dishes email me Jessicarespinoza@ymail. Yes, it’s that serious, Indian food is a one of my favorite foods!

Fantastic Experience at Mumtaz Indian Restaurant - A Hidden Gem

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

After a long and tiring day of walking in Dallas, I stumbled upon Mumtaz Indian Restaurant, and it turned out to be an amazing find. Here's why I had such a fantastic experience:

When I entered the restaurant, exhausted from my day of solving residency problems near UTD, I was greeted with warm hospitality. The staff at Mumtaz Indian Restaurant were incredibly welcoming and made me feel right at home. Their kindness was much needed after a day of walking 10 miles.

As I settled in, the lady at the restaurant recommended their buffet for the day. I was intrigued and decided to try it. One thing that immediately stood out was their unique payment system. Instead of asking for payment upfront, they encouraged me to eat first and pay later. This level of trust and genuine care for their customers amazed me.

The buffet at Mumtaz Indian Restaurant was a delightful culinary experience. They offered a wide variety of Bangladeshi food, ranging from flavorful chicken and goat curries to delectable vegetables and daal. The highlight for me was the Gulab Jamun dessert, which was absolutely heavenly. Every dish was prepared with utmost care and authenticity.

During my meal, I couldn't help but approach the lady who had recommended the buffet. I expressed my appreciation and told her that I would remember this meal. She graciously thanked me and took the time to inquire about me. To my surprise, I learned that Mumtaz Indian Restaurant is actually a Bangladeshi owned establishment. This explained why I found their food to be incredibly delicious. As a fan of Bangladeshi cuisine, I was delighted to experience the authentic flavors I adore.

The ambience of Mumtaz Indian Restaurant was great, and the cleanliness of the establishment was commendable. The professionalism of the owners and staff exceeded my expectations, creating a memorable dining experience.

Mumtaz Indian Restaurant is a hidden gem in Dallas. The hospitable staff, delicious Bangladeshi cuisine, and overall dining experience were exceptional. I am already looking forward to my next visit to Dallas so that I can enjoy another remarkable meal at Mumtaz Indian Restaurant.

  • I was so tired and exhausted that I forgot to take any pictures of the place. Plus, I did not have much juice left...

Mumtaz is hands down one of my favorite spots when I'm craving Indian food. It has become my go-to place whenever I want to indulge in some delicious flavors. What makes Mumtaz unique is their buffet option, which may not have an overwhelming selection, but they keep things interesting by rotating the items they offer.

The first thing you'll notice about Mumtaz is its cozy, 'hole-in-the-wall' ambiance, which I absolutely adore. It's not a fancy or extravagant place, but it has its own charm that adds to the overall experience. The staff, on the other hand, seems to change frequently, which can be a bit confusing. However, despite the revolving faces, they've always been friendly and accommodating.

One of the main reasons I keep going back to Mumtaz is the affordability. The prices are reasonable, and you can enjoy a satisfying meal without breaking the bank. However, I did notice that they recently increased the buffet prices, and I must admit I was a bit disappointed. In my opinion, $15 is pushing it a bit, especially when you factor in the additional cost of drinks.

That being said, the food at Mumtaz never disappoints. Each dish bursts with authentic flavors and is prepared with care. From the aromatic curries to the perfectly cooked biryanis, everything is simply delicious. Whether you're a fan of mild or spicy, vegetarian, or non-vegetarian options, they have something for everyone.

Overall, if you're looking for a low-key, no-frills Indian restaurant with mouthwatering food, Mumtaz is definitely worth a visit. Just keep in mind the recent price increase and be prepared to shell out a little more for the buffet. But trust me, the flavors and the experience make...

I recently dined at Mumtaz Indian Restaurant, and I must say, my experience was far from satisfactory. The overall quality of the food was mediocre at best. Notably, the papad was extremely oily, and the pakoda, which seemed to have been prepared well in advance, were served cold. The paneer makhani lacked flavor, with the paneer itself being surprisingly tough, a stark contrast to the tender, melt-in-your-mouth consistency one would expect. The garlic naan was another disappointment; it was hard, chewy, and the garlic flavor was almost non-existent, tasting as though it had been hastily reheated in a microwave.

Service-wise, the situation didn't improve. The staff appeared to be untrained and lacked professionalism. They weren't cordial, often seemed confused when asked for anything, and struggled to understand basic requests. This contributed to a rather uncomfortable dining atmosphere.

Furthermore, despite requesting our dishes to be medium spicy, they arrived tasting bland and unseasoned, lacking the rich flavors and aromas characteristic of authentic Indian cuisine. It was as if the kitchen had forgotten the spices altogether, leaving much to be desired in every dish we ordered.

In summary, my visit to Mumtaz Indian Restaurant was disappointing. The food quality, service, and overall dining experience fell short of expectations, making it unlikely that I will return or recommend this establishment to others. There's a significant room for improvement in both culinary execution and customer service if they aim to truly honor the rich culinary...
