This restaurant has opened 4months ago so they’re pretty new in the hotel business. The place is amazing, for a date or for a party with your friends. However, let me breakdown the total experience.
Ambience: The restaurant looks amazing. The setup of tables, the service, the overall looks and the fact being very close to the nearest freeway exit, all in together is amazing. Perfect place for a date or a party with friends as they have enough space available.
Food: We were 3 so we ordered considerably around 5 dishes and 3 drinks. Starting with the appetizers, the shrimp tandoori was really good in taste and quantity. The Butter Chicken Bao was average because it’s not at all spicy so they can improve there, however, it’s pretty heavy per piece as the sauce/gravy is mouth-full so a good dish to order. For the main dish, we have the mutton kheema pao which I definitely recommend(please order spicy). The quantity is good, comes with 2 pao’s so may wanna order more. No complaints on this one. The server mentioned that the Burrata Chicken was their trending dish so we ordered it. It was not what I expected. Not spicy at all, however, too many things to improve in this one. The gravy is so thick that you won’t be able to take more than 4-5 bites(depending on how much you eat). It’s a super heavy dish. The quantity is good, but overall, I would not recommend this one.
Drinks: Guava mocktail was really good. I personally ordered the Kokam mocktail which was the best(a true Mumbaikar opinion), so definitely order this one. The last one was the pina colada which was not good at all. Reason being there was no coconut essence in it. Definitely a no go.
Overall review: I would rate this place 3/5. They have created dishes for the American pallet but the name is Bombay Republic. For the restaurant, I would say please make authentic Bombay dishes even if you have all dishes named from Bombay but taste is not close at all. However, I can vouch that you guys will definitely improve which I can say by the quality of the dishes made by a really good chef. For the people going there, if you’re American, you can go for the mild or medium spicy levels, but Indians, please order spicy! I tried mild and medium, not authentic for us at all. Again, I would recommend do visit this place for a date or a party, as their service and ambiance are amazing, just for the food, it depends on what you order.
One last point(sorry for such a long review), this place is costly when it comes to a newly opened restaurant which is in their experimental stages. Most of the dishes are from $16-20 and my overall bill for 4 dishes and 3 drinks was around $110. If they go lower on the prices, it would seriously attract a lot of customers and let them enjoy a bit more. Please do visit this place it’s good and in time and experience they will become...
Read moreI have eaten here a dozen times. It was my favorite Indian buffet in DFW when it first opened. I remember chatting with the very first manager (female with very short hair) about how to improve the buffet. I told her the layout was too cramped and they needed smaller plates (so people wouldn't over-fill their plate). Food was absolutely amazing!
The service has never been great during lunch though. I've had a different server every single time I've gone. The majority of them have never waited tables in their lifetime. Only one guy was good... and he dressed professionally. I've been "forgotten" several times... no naan brought out... no ice brought out when requested... basic server mistake issues. HOWEVER, the food has always been amazing to very good.
Over time, food quality began to decline. Today was possibly my last visit. Everything was either cold... old... or really bad. I hate to use the word disgusting, but it really was. I couldn't even finish my meal because I started feeling queasy. So I paid the bill and left. Sure enough, I barely made my 30min drive home before experiencing stomach issues. So sad. They have an interesting menu compared to other Indian restaurants, but today... absolutely terrible.
The corn/cauliflower appetizer was gross. It used to be good! The Chili Chicken was even worse... that tasted like a Lean Cuisine frozen sweet and sour chicken dinner. Did the chef or recipe change? The Tandoori Chicken looked like it was a couple days old. All the vegetarian options were below room temp. I doubt any of the staff today have food safety certification.
Im pretty sure ownership has changed. Its just not the same. The sanitation issues is enough to worry me. Food at incorrect temps... serveware covered in old food at room temp... and don't get me started on the tap water served in a communal bottle where hands have been all over the cork. I know the waitstaff is not clearing/washing/sanitizing after each use. I watched them!
I am now fighting stomach issues. Sad way to feel after spending $26 for what I thought would be a good meal. $22 plus tip. Not worth it.
One star for sure... but extra star for all the earlier enjoyable meals. I hope the current owner takes this feedback seriously. This restaurant USED...
Read moreVegetarian entrees were not good, baby corn all stuck and chewy. Aloo tikki had no taste or flavor. Main course was decent although the servers were asking if I wanted the breads even as I walked in, surprising coz I had not even started with the soup. Appetizers weren't ready and the owner kept pushing us to eat what's ready and laid out, felt hurried. Overall, food was ok but service is terrible. Pav bhaji was served with only bhaji and no pav. When asked, was told they don't have pav included. Wasn't sure what I would eat the bhaji with. The owner offered to give us the pav 'on the house' but I wasn't interested in any special treatment. Not good value for pure vegetarians. 10% service charge added to the bill
Edit 1/25. Attaching the CC charge. 2 pax veg buffet, charged $47.xx
The feedback is from a paying customer, when we spoke you said i'm making assumptions. It's what I experienced and not assumed. Anyways, not interested in arguing here.
Edit 26/1: Ofcourse you will close the issue without clarification. What is the breakup for the $47.6 charged? Is the buffet price $15.99 plus taxes or way higher as what has been charged. Coz., unless it is $22/head, it will not amount to this amount incl taxes for 2 people. We ordered no extras and sent back the Pav you so generously offered.
All negative feedback is incorrect, way to go. BTW, there are other customer reviews calling out lack of transparency on billing. I'm not the first. It's obvious, hospitality industry is not for everyone. I've wasted enough time on this, won't be...
