I have two young autistic sons. We are “practicing” sleeping in hotels in town in order for them to get used to sleeping away in unfamiliar places. I chose this hotel based on the pictures online for their pool as I knew my kids would feel that their stay would be great based on their ability to swim.
Let’s just say I noticed details that most would probably think are insignificant but significant with a mom and two special needs kiddos.
From the start the hotel has a very home feel, greeted by an entrance with a fireplace and leather couch seating. The staff is friendly and efficient in timing of check in.
The luggage rack was available and was necessary in order to make one trip without leaving little kids alone to make another trip. Some racks are very cumbersome and hard to maneuver. There’s was appropriate size, had hooks above, and turned with ease. This was a dual job for me to get luggage inside but also provide a ride for the kids.
The room had great accommodations like a mini fridge keurig and microwave. It was also spacious. The bed was comfortable, and had plenty of pillows.
The pool was indoor but felt outdoor as it was in a glass enclosed building. The pool was a great temperature and I appreciated the aesthetics of the rock decor. The hot tub was roomy and safe with multiple areas to hold on to to prevent slipping. I will say that the brick surrounding of the immediate ajacemt pool are got slick when wet but the rest of the flooring surfaces were not. My kids loved the pool, we went both at night and in the morning of our one night stay. I also appreciated the bathrooms which were very close to the pool area.
Who doesn’t appreciate a warm cookie after swimming or in general? My kids and I sure did.
The vending machines offered microwave items to eat aside from the usual snacks and candy.
I had no problem with the bed and was not uncomfortable sleeping on the mattress.
Breakfast was fantastic. I loved the touch of a button pancake maker. I appreciated the options of items like soy milk for my kids who have dairy free diets. The staff was also willing to microwave something for me as I have one child who is very particular about how a food item is prepared and heated.
Ease of access to ice, vending, elevators and main lobby are quick no matter where you room.
I loved this hotel. My kids did great, no crying, and wanted to stay longer. It was a win win. I highly recommend...
Read moreNote the EXCELLENT rating I gave for overall experience. That really says it all. This is the kind of place that IHG and Holiday Inn can be proud of and what mostly sets it apart is the SUPERIOR STAFF.
I was greeted by a young woman with a hispanic last name (not sure if I should give it) She was INCREDIBLE! Smiling, friendly professional... everything that a front desk person should be. I cannot give her high enough praise. Besides the professional greeting, use of name and so on, she also presented me with a great basket of gifts as a Rewards Club member. It was far and away the finest greeting I have had at any IHG hotel.
Holiday Inns, when newly constructed, are well designed and made. They are clearly not a "luxury" hotel... but they are a very good hotel.. hence my "room and comfort" rating of good. This one is very well kept and appointed and a good representative of its type.
The breakfast at this Holiday Inn is above average for its type. Breakfasts at Holiday Inns and others in their class usually don't have real restaurants, so they tend to serve the same pre-made scrambled eggs, self-serve belgian waffles and so on. Despite the limitations of format, this one stood out by offering a few more choices, particularly in condiments... and in cleanliness. Special recognition should go to their staff members overseeing the breakfast. They kept everything well-stocked and did a fine job of cleaning up during the breakfast. Many hotels only do real cleaning after breakfast, so by the time breakfast is over, the floor has crumbs and the tables are a mess --- not here IT IS CLEAN all the time. Great job.
Special note has to be made of the pool. My daughter and I loved it. The waterfall feature really livens it up. Small decorating features like that make a huge difference... the pool is already a standout just by that small addition. You should do even more. Good job!
In conclusion, the superior staff at this hotel makes it a standout. The amenities at Holiday Inns and others in their class are fairly similar, the staff makes all...
Read moreJuly 7th, 2025 - I have stayed here at this hotel for a couple work hitches now and while the hotel is nice and modern and in a good location, and has decent breakfast for it's status and has a pool and hot tube and workout room and boardroom/conference room and a big truck parking lot nearby for oversize vehicles, and is located wholly within the City of Richland, close to WA HWY 240, and a circle k gas station nearby and close to Columbia center Blvd and the Kenn Costco [Richland costco scheduled to open in Aug. 2025]. During both of my stays now the housekeepers have taken what they assumed to be trash, [I kinda can't blame them really] when I later had plans for those items, for example, just within the last couple days, they took a grocery outlet plastic bag which one has to pay for, which contained cans/bottles which are worth 10 cents a piece in nearby Oregon. I was going to donate those to the Pendleton animal shelter, now those animals won't get the benefit of those redeemed cans/bottles. In addition, I lost out on a grocery outlet plastic bag that I was going to re-use. During my previous stay, in June 2025, I had a bunch of recyclables out on the counter, think cardboard, plastics, etc. I was going to recycle those myself, but the housekeeping took those and did whatever with them. I am hesitant to have them change my sheets while i am out during the day, cause i don't know what they're going to do or touch, with my things still in there. Overall, not that big of a deal, but still just mildly annoying/concerning. It really is not that big of a deal, just worth making a note. Other than that, it has been a positive experience at this hotel. Oh, one more thing, they built this hotel on a hill, so to be prepared to walk uphill and engage your parking brake in your vehicle if you park on an incline. We do get snow/ice and even black ice in Tri-Town during the winter months, which generally is mid-november to mid-march so do be aware of that if you are travelling here during the...
